14:10 uhh... DoS and DDoS do not involve hacking into the server at all - they may have landed a virus/trojan on a vast number of unsuspecting peoples computers to create a botnet to perform the DDoS, but you don't need to hack or gain access to the target at all, you just need a lot of controlled hosts to send requests to the server, even completely normal legit requests, faster than the server can handle that much traffic. It's the exact same thing as when a website goes down because too many people visit it at the same time, just instead those people are bots.
Please be careful when defining terms like this - saying that DDoS requires hacking the target first is completely wrong and inaccurate.
And I'm not even being pedantic about hacking which is actually defined as just computer programming without any security context at all, originally what people think hacking is was defined as cracking - as anyone breaching computer security is generally also a programmer, they're also hackers. Media and pop culture latched on and redefined hacking as what cracking originally referred to with cracking being slightly redefined to relate to bypassing copy protection on software rather than the original definition of cracking security barriers.
As much as I dislike it due to the history and entomology, language is defined by redefinition thus while the argument about the term hacking was valid 25 years ago when I first saw it argued, by now it's admittedly pedantic.
But saying DDoS requires hacking into the target is like saying I have to break into your email account to be able to send you tons of spam from tons of addresses.

Even trying to explain to employees these days what a VPN really is and why their corporate VPN is the real type of VPN and what gets spammed on TH-cam is actually more a rebranded proxy server. If someone no longer is of any danger of committing a crime, keeping them locked in jail is a bad thing to do. There are people who can't be rehabilitated, but there are also people who can be, and Mustafa (if what he's doing is already considered wrong, which... hacking into the CIA for the lulz is probably wrong) is someone who can be rehabilitated, as is shown. Let him live his life and provide good to the world as opposed to locking him up in prison when he's no longer a threat.

In the US, the misdeeds of minors (< 18 years) are sealed and not to be divulged, ever. Those under 18 can't be tried as an adult, with rare exceptions (e.g. hatchet murder.) IDK the UK law. How does it work there?

Pretty similar, you have juvenile court and young offenders instututes for people under 18, cant comment much more as Ive never had much trouble when I was young. Theres also community service, curfews and other punishments that dont involve going to a young offenders instutute.

Embarrassing misunderstanding of the subject matter shown here. A DDoS is not hacking in any way, shape or form.
A web server can only handle so many requests for pages or data at a time. If a site is able to handle, for example, 10,000 active requests at a single point in time, and 10,001 people attempt to access the site at the exact same moment, the very last person will see the site is unreachable. No hack has taken place, and the site is very much available for the first 10,000 users.
A DDoS attack simply takes advantage of these limitations in bandwidth by hitting a server with as many nonsense requests as possible so that the page appears to be down for any legitimate traffic. In our earlier example of 10,000, if DDoS software is used to flood the server with 10,000 (or more) requests, the site will appear to be down for anyone else who attempts to view it. Again, no hacking whatsoever has taken place. The site is still there, and has not been infiltrated at all.
This was not the only aspect of the video that was inaccurate or portrayed incorrectly. For dramatic flair or because of a lack of knowledge on what’s being discussed? I’d say the latter, but potentially both.

Also, you'd have to remember that botnets weren't that big back then. You'd have to spend quite a lot of time finding out the best spots to hit.
