    I think it would love it if Airfix would release a 1/72 scale Tamar class lifeboat or even a SLEP Severn to go with the Severn and Shannon lifeboats that are already released.

      @@ModellingWeekly Exactly, with the RNLI aiming for a 3 class ALB fleet, the Tamar is the missing boat! It would also be good if Airfix could offer additional decals for the Severn lifeboats so the modellers could make their favourite versions of them.

    I bought this kit directly from Airfix on Thursday. Just cannot wait (not) to see such deformed cabin, especially it is from fresh mould.

    • @ModellingWeekly
      @ModellingWeekly  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah, it's definitely a shame to see these kinds of deformations straight from the get go. If you're unlucky and do get a deformed part, I can only recommend to contact Airfix customers support and they'll send a new one for free - best of luck mate

      @ModellingWeekly I will try hot water first. It this is thermoplastic material without shape memory, it might be possible to 'persuade' it to stay in the new shape..

      @@ModellingWeekly I received model today. Cabin is not deformed, look like they fixed problem with moudling process. But there is another issue which I don't like. Sprues are made without external frames and someone decided to put delicate parts on the outer rim of sprues, which of course caused damage of some of them. I think Airfix need to really press on quality of engineering. Parts look a little heave as well, but I will see how assembly process would go.

    • @ModellingWeekly
      @ModellingWeekly  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@lukasz_p_ glad to hear the cabin arrived in good shape. Yeah this is a common thing with the new Airfix starter sets, I have no idea why they do this. It's pretty annoying, as those delicate parts are really at risk of breaking as you say. I might bring this up with the airfix team next time I'm in contact 👍

      @@ModellingWeekly looks like Airfix made a 'clever' step to generate extra 10£ income. It is shame that only one marking option is provided in the kit.

    • @ModellingWeekly
      @ModellingWeekly  16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@lukasz_p_ One would indeed think that, but the price of a decal sheet from cartograf is not cheap - decals often make up the majority of the costs of a model kit for the manufacturer. Airfix reported that they're making a tiny margin on these decals, and more than anything they're selling them purely to give modellers more options. Sure, they could have included nameplates and numbers for a few more lifeboats in the starter set, but you'd then only be pleasing a handful more people than you were before. They could have added the entire extra sheet as part of the kit, but that would have raised the kit price to outside of what is considered the "starter set" price range
      Tl;dr - I know exactly what you mean and I totally get it, but just explaining what Airfix's stance on it is 👍

    Cool video! But the kit is again kinda disapointing. Airfix showed us with some of their new kits what they are capable of and yet we get a half baked kit aimed for new builders and nobody elese. Dont get me wrong it looks very good especialy with the one piece cabin, but the lack of detail inside the cabin and overall is disapointing. I was thinking about getting this kit since i dont build ships and this is a simle small boat in big scale but it being a starter set and probably overpriced where I live its a pass. Same with their F-35. Loved the stand but thats about it. Italeri did a better job far before them.

    • @ModellingWeekly
      @ModellingWeekly  16 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Totally get what you mean, the detail in some aspects of the kit is heavily limited by the fact it's a starter kit which is pretty frustrating. Its fantastic that they are doing it as a starter set to bring new people into the hobby, but at the same time it is a bit annoying for more experienced modellers! Hopefully they bring out a high - detail version of the kit at some point in the future

      @@ModellingWeekly There wont be any more detailed version. Only hope is for some aftermarket stuff but I doubt it.

    • @ModellingWeekly
      @ModellingWeekly  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@hopik5122 I agree it's unlikely but it can't be entirely ruled out, Airfix have in the past released standard and starter set variants of the same kit (Spitfire Mk.Vc) at the same time.
      But yeah, it's very unlikely, so hopefully some aftermarket stuff becomes available.
