    So cool I’ve got a large group of free swimmers now! They’re amazing parents it’s to cute watching them pick up and spit out any fry that wonders off😂 it stresses me out when they had their first batch but they ate them😂 they’re on the second mega batch now. Put some jars in the aquarium and they love moving baby’s in and out of it. I had them move the baby’s to the jar then back to the hide for a couple days. Now jewel(the female) is watching over at least 100 baby’s. Thankfully I have fish stores interested locally so they’ll pay their way for all the good food they’re getting 😂🎉

    • @abesingh20
      @abesingh20  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Although blood parrots have been known to mate and even lay eggs, generally they are infertile. There have been sporadic cases of successful spawnings, generally when females have been crossed with a non-hybrid fish. If the eggs hatched , let the fries be in the tank with parents . Cichlid are good parents

    • @abesingh20
      @abesingh20  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      just take care of the water chemistry , don't let it fluctuate much .
      If you have a old tank , that would mean your tank is well cycled . So do only , 10 % water change weekly
      dont use sump filters , or hanging filters they make suck the fry in .
      use bubble filters they will be best for your frys safety
      you can start feeding them a day after ther start moving around . finely grind the fish food and add little food because extra food may be left uneaten by the fry and will settle down creating harmful ammonia . feed only as much as they can finish in 5 mins , twice a day

    Would you let the fry mature and mate? Is that dangerous?

    • @abesingh20
      @abesingh20  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      after reaching maturity , they would pair up and breed . SO it is important to separate them as ,while breeding they become very aggressive and may attack other jewel pair in the same tank . or get a very big tank and lots of hiding places , but keeping one pair in a tank is recommended.

      @@sandeepj3716 Fish age doesn't matter . The fry from same parent's , you will find out , will grow at different speed depending upon their genes and how much food they get .
      From a single pair , in a single breeding time , hundreds of fry will come out . Some will be more dominant and aggressive by nature and will have higher immunity . Some will be timid , lower immunity .
      Fish's fry also have birth defect .
      So when is the time to separate ?
      -> you will find out some of them will become comparitively much bigger . separate them , because they might kill or stress out the smaller one's . There is no fix age or size , you just have to understand nature and learn to live and act acoordingly :D.

    • @abesingh20

      Relax! None of those things matter. If you are looking up to them to be a breeding pair , you just have to get a male-female pair and take care of them . When time comes they will breed depending upon how comfortable they are in the fish tank. :D

      @abesingh20  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The reason behind the disappearence of the eggs could be :-
      1.) for new parents, or chichlid who have never bred before , the eggs may remain unfertilized and can no longer hatch. In that case they can eat the unfertillized eggs.
      2.)after hatching ,jewel cichlid put the fry in their mouth and move them to a safe location for protection ,because for few days after hatching ,the fry can't move.

      Breeding of the Blood Parrot Cichlid. Although blood parrots have been known to mate and even lay eggs, generally they are infertile. There have been rare cases of successful spawnings, generally when females have been crossed with a non-hybrid fish

      There could be multiple reasons for that : -

Please take care of it , by taking taking care of the process of water change and adding anti chlorine etc . You can research on the internet to know more about it .
      2.)They are new parents , so because they don't have any experience it may happen . Just give sometime . Everything will be alright .
      3.)Fully fertilized and healthy eggs have a semi-transparent , dull white kind of colour . Eggs which are not fertilized due to inexperience of parents or because of reproduction defect in your fish (specially male jewel) , will have a pale white colour ( like a pearl ) .
