I'm glad I stumbled onto them. Thank you. Unfortunately in class we only touched on the basics. Quite a joke with the amount of capabilities this program has.
Is this the best way to start a car surface design in Inventor? What I’m trying to ask is does one need to sketch the 2D views of the car and then transform into 3D like you did? Is it easier that way? If this is not the best way to start a car surface design, what method would you suggest one starts with in Inventor?
From what I've seen, the 2D drawings are very important. Car companies pay the artist to make 2D photoshop images of what they want to design first. It is those images that are then placed at the background like this guy has done, and the 3D software designer then models out the car surfaces.
i am drawing another car model but my sketchs not onto 2d example photos. may websites sample photos had cheated ratios for anti thiefting sample drawings? Or my samples have like a %.3 error mistake tolerance it must effect too much wrong sketches?
hi wolfgang thaks for your tutorial, but I have a question I am using autodesk inventor, when I do the 3d sketch using spline, there is a XYZ Arrow box that limit me to trace the image (not like yours), it can only do 90degree angle line, so I have to make a straight line with points first, then I have to drag the point into the image curve line,it is so repetitive ,could you give me a clue? thank you
that's most beautiful solution I ever seen
Really? Thanks :)
Thanks for making these videos. I have learned so much from them - especially the 3D sketching and surfacing techniques.
You´re welcome :)

Brilliant Wolfgang !
Thanks!

Doesn´t matter which software you use. You have to start somehow. You can model it without 2d drawings. It is your free choice.

You are Wonderfull !
Thanks 🙂
Pls show zebra to check the smoothness of the surface.
You could do this yourself, couldn´t you?
What's the best for modeling cars
Inventor
Fusion 360
Solidworks.
????
I would suggest siemens nx and catia.
Why?
@@wolfgang.walden.cad.training both it's looks like complicated???
Maybe, but you can do things which the other programs can´t do at all.
Also u can use alias

I don´t think so, but those photos are not shot/meant for this kind of use. Therefore you would need scans not photos.
Hi. Is it better to sketch first in autocad and create a surface in inventor?
Simply put - NO!
Is it possible to 3d print an STL file with a part like this? I want to recreate an ATV but no perfect drawn schematic type photos of it exist
Should be possible, just try it 😉
So basically you can do whole car with this technique?
Yes, you could do a whole car as well.
@@wolfgang.walden.cad.training Can you do all parts of car with inventor? Chassis, engine, everything? Is Inventor ok to do this?
@@JohnFekoloid creating objects with surfaces good for artistic and estetic things.
For Create Engine gearbox etc you must use solid extrude.

In the bottom toolbar, there is an "ortho snap mode" - you have to deactivate it.
@@wolfgang.walden.cad.training wow thank you so much, you really made my day
you´re welcome
I want to know, how can i make the surfaces have tickness?
You should be able to check my videos regarding this topic "solid from face" i.e. th-cam.com/video/qbSJms6eeNw/w-d-xo.html
