Dear all!! - if you're looking for a good computer to run Inventor, you may then be interested to know that I have now developed and released the worlds most comprehensive FREE benchmarking test for Autodesk Inventor with a global online leaderboard. See the announcement video here th-cam.com/video/Xck3lvuMRjM/w-d-xo.html and check out the leaderboard here invmark.cadac.com/#/ - all designed by me, Neil Cross TFI. IMPORTANT!!! This video is still being heavily promoted by TH-cam so you will see this before the newer version. But I have recently rerecorded this video for the new version of Inventor, that video is here th-cam.com/video/5PWqsRynm5I/w-d-xo.html I strongly advise watching the new version instead of this one.
@@MS-ld3jn Same. I actually knew how to make easy parts like the one he did pretty fast but it was still good to know the layout of a new software. I like Inventor because it is kinda like Solidworks.
I so love your tutorials! I love how you explain WHY such-and-such is being done rather than just "Do-step-A-then-do-step-B" and without all the overly-technical terms like in the Autodesk "tutorials" (which are complete poo, by the way). Coming from an art guy's perspective, your teaching makes a near-impossible program possible. I only cried a little. Good job, man and thank you!
I enjoy your commentary and I enjoy your videos. As a senior citizen going to the local community college and taking a course in Autodesk inventor you have helped me immensely. Keep it up because you are truly doing a service. Thanks for what you do
I just downloaded inventor. This was the first tutorial I saw,(in the middle of watching now). And man, I've got to say. Thank you! Awesome job! I'm so new to this, you make it able for me to understand.
+Richard Castaneda Thanks man, you're welcome! I dunno what I'm more happy about, helping you out or being that high up in the TH-cam search results haha ;-) Good luck
I absolutely love your tutorials. You make them fun. Thanks for taking the time. It also VERY refreshing to find someone else that is passionate about modeling certain ways to build intelligence into your models.
It is the first time I see your videos you are very amazing with your tutorials or teaching it really opens one's mind, your sense of humour touched me deeply in my heart and just imagining how great a kind of a teacher inside the classroom you could be.....I wish I know you personally by being part of your classes physically. I even lough big time when listening to you I love it man.
Colleague, time is not the measure! You are absolutely the best at explaining, why...? You have that sense of simplicity, professionalism, and fun with you is always guaranteed! Pozdrav from Croatia! :))
You got this! When you're on your own, the proper way isn't important, as long as what you're modelling is to the right size it doesn't really matter if the modelling wasn't perfect!
Outstanding video!!! - I learnt more from this and your other videos than the TAFE course. Excellent progression and explanation, I was riveted for 3 full length viewings [ of the 40 + mins :- ) ] Is there any chance you could make a video on structural steel assemblies end plates, joints etc.?
Neil you can easily see just how popular there videos are by the numbers of views. I've had to watch several Bentley MicroStation and AECOsim videos where even with a good presentation they are only hitting the low hundreds of views on what is claimed to be the worlds most popular building design software. Your presentation style is a breathe of fresh air. Autodesk must be very grateful to you for making these videos as you explain a relatively complicated program in simple easy to follow steps. Cheers.
I was hyped up when i saw tips that i just know after almost 4 years of inventor, i was like "daaaaaaaang!". I probably should dig more and watch your every videos so i won't miss none. Very informative and educative. Imma smash that thumbs up button
Just attempting to transfer from 2d cad to inventor, I have struggled understanding the concepts in the past, however your video has started to unlock the mysteries of inventor. This is my first watch of one of your videos, I will certainly be looking at some more. Keep up the good work.
You must be Autodesk Inventor doctor, I think you know this program better then those guys who made it. I just start learning this from some Punjabi guy haha, but this is far superior, keep going
this is without a doubt the best CAD training video, and I've learnt 3 CAD programs that I use professionally, so I have done quite a few. This video was a very refreshing way to be introduced and start training on Inventor. Thank you for your effort and patience to produce this work. Very much appreciated Mike
I stumbled on this video today, I have been using Inventor for years and didn't know some of these shortcuts. Thanks for what you do. I will be looking at all of your videos in depth. Cheers
Thanks Neal, I've been wandering around in the Inventor cornfield for sometime now and haven't really found anything more than a really clumsy ways of doing things. I think things are changing now thanks to your expert help. You are a superb teacher. Thanks over and over again
I've never used inventor before. I had a little struggle with the initial drawning of the spokes (before extruding them). You start with showing the result and take lots of time explaining details. It took me a few hours to get it right but what a super great tutorial! Thanks for taking the time to make this.
Holy crap... I wish I would have watched this video before attempting to draw anything. This would have totally changed how I drew the project I am working on and cleared up all of my head aches. Thank you for making this video.
I watched this video when I first got Inventor LT installed and I knew nothing about it, my previous cad experience was a cad cam built in geometry ribbon and i was lost with Inventor for about a day, it took me about a week to start getting Inventor to do what I intended for it to and now that I have re-watched this I'm glad I did, it explains a lot with a little. Thank you for your tutorials, I'll be watching more of them!
Thanks man, I'll probably be remastering this one and doing it again as it's coming up to 3 years old, the software moves on and changes subtly in places so these old videos need re-doing now and again!
TFI when I saw how you were listing all of your parameters it's made me realize that I could have a master drawing for several similar parts to import into cam and have a nearly instant program. That will take a few attempts to get right lol, i look forward to what you have to say about 2018!
your sense of humour makes it much more interesting. I am a certified Solidworks professional, and just wanted to know how different inventor is, and ended up watching the whole video. the part where you select a certain sketch tool with holding the right mouse button, hilarious haha
thank you so much sir am watching you all the way from KENYA i have been using AUTOCAD for 3d modeling but today you have shown me how fun and cool inventor really is thank you so much big thumbs up.
BRILLIANT VIDEO, I'm currently trying to learn Autodesk Inventor as part of my motorsport engineering degree, and this has really helped me. Thank you. You've got a new subscriber!
I just found your channel a couple days ago and I have been watching every video you got. Really appreciate videos like this one here where you use all your methods to model a part and constraint it in an assembly. I like tips and tricks but seeing them all in use to produce a part is excellent! By far the best youtube channel for Inventor. Your videos are better quality than the videos straight from AutoDesk. Thanks for all the great videos!
+Chuck Wilson Hey thanks man, that means a lot! You can probably see how they get better over time, I cringe when I watch my early ones as I'm almost robotic sounding and using a shocking headset mic, thankfully though most if not all of them are still relevant up to this day!
about 5 years ago a good friend started learning me to use inventor, but I ended up using autocad more, mainly just 2d dxf drawings for the plasma table. it didnt take long for my simple brain to forget even the basics of inventor.every time I fired up inventor to start the program I was trying to use it like autocad. with in minutes I was holding the power button down on the laptop thinking f**k that over complicated sh*te. :o your tutorial videos are fantastic.i cant thank you enough regards jfl
Awe, what a wonderful tutorial. Although the dialog looks different for holes in 2020 now. Just wanted to add this in case any other noob was wondering, too. The positioning in 2020 works like that: just click the lines/edges/arc you want the hole to be aligned to and you're done. Pretty intuitive -.-
You should redo this video for 2018 a new file and a bit deeper. I LOVE this video and recommend it to a lot of people, I believe this needs a refresh though, similar with an updated model and for Inventor 2018. I do still believe this is by far the best beginner tutorial for Inventor, hands down. And this was 2015....and it is still the best. Your videos are fantastic!
The plate you attached the piece to that you made is the "Chain Drive Plate". The chain that makes the cart move, like a bicycle chain. This work is quite interesting, and advanced in many ways to allow things to be "Commanded Into Place".
I loved this video. I have only used Inventor from time to time, but I am going to apply the techniques I learned today in all of my new models. Thanks, Neil for a great video!
TNice tutorials is by far, the best tutorial I have found so far. I feel like I’ll be spending a lot of ti on your channel! Thanks man! Keep up the good
I am an avid Pro E user and am looking at Inventor as our company is possibly shifting, this was very very informative. Love that adaptable option ! I just subscribed. Thanks for sharing
You are the best dude! I wonder why does Autodesk does not make such great tutorials. Making a 1000 human-years program and not making 1 human-hour tutorial looks pretty stupid for me.
Thanks, excellent job I am sharing this video with a friend that I am introducing to Inventor, you touched on things that will probably scare him but when he comes out from under the table I will explain it to him. lol again I thank you for your interesting video
Holy shit. Congrats man. This is the first hour long video I've watched straight through to a channel I wasn't subscribed to already. Trust me, thats a big deal! I normally fast forward for videos that are 10 minutes long! AND I rarely subscribe based off ONE video! That said, I've used AutoCAD since 2004 (I have 2018 now) and always wanted to get into Inventor but it always seemed so daunting. Now I might have a go at it... after watching a few more videos anyway haha I have Inventor Pro 2018 so might as well give 'er a shot...
Very nice tutorial Neil and the time really went fast. Don't feel bad if the video seems long as I enjoy your videos where you show more content. Keep up the good work!
This os the first video I have seen on Inventor. Your fun approach Is refreshing and helps hold my attention. Thanks for taking the time to make these vids... from Oklahoma USA
your tutorial was awesome and I made the part. I'm a total beginner, and it was funny and informative. One thing I would suggest would be some parts you move super fast. like you will click on things while saying what you are clicking on and as I look down not sure where exactly to click since I'm new, I miss the next move, then I have to rewind about 3-5 times because the things I miss get compounded on the next thing. So maybe just a tiny pause in between telling what command to use or where to click would go a long way. Oh yeah one more thing. This one would probably only help people in North America lol, but if you wouldn't mind adding inches when you give out the measurements would be amazing too. I know a lot of times I also had to rewind and pause to do conversions of everything, and then got the degree portion wrong because I converted it, and couldn't figure out the problem as to why mine looked vastly different from yours for a while. It ended up making the video even longer for me as all the extra rewinds and pauses added extra time. Other than that it was a great tutorial and great video for a new person. I really liked how you told us why you do it a certain way and didn't just tell us to do it like with the creating plane portions.
I would do a little different 1. Sketch Inner Dia., OD Dia. with key and arm with a hole. 2. Extrude the Inner and outer dia. 3. Share the sketch 4. extrude the arm with a hole. 5. fillet the arm 6. Circular pattern step. 4 & 5 7. chamfer done. very nice video man.
Wow! About Inventor I'm a beginner and I come from other softwares that thinks completely differently. For this reason, although I don't know the language well, I tell you that you are damn good at explaining! Thanks a lot! (Google translate ... support) :-D
Thank you, this was very useful, as that I'm just a student and wanting all the info I can get. The different planes and how you can work on them was the problem I was having, until I watched this. I'm glad I subscribed.
Great video, just stating to take over the reins in my company & already learned so many things from this first video I’ve watched. Now time to binge 😊
Unbelivably understandable explanation. Thank You very much ! I had no time to learn tons of tutorials. I'll do that later (promise). For my current task, your tutorial is more then enough.
Very Very helpful, i just got inventor, its my first dive into any kind of program like this, I watched you step by step and it was so helpful i can now do the hub in about 10min on my own, the only problem im having is I cant find the same Key-way drop-down you have, im using 2018. any suggestions, Thank you so much for putting these out there.( and very amusing also !)

+Tom Burns Thanks man that's really awesome to hear :-)
You're welcome.
After screaming in frustration to so many overly-technical tutorials, your tutorials are awesome to hear.
Thanks again!

Your videos are amazing. Today is my first day messing with Inventor, and I'm actually building things already. Hopefully the proper way.
You got this! When you're on your own, the proper way isn't important, as long as what you're modelling is to the right size it doesn't really matter if the modelling wasn't perfect!

Literally am going from using Ableton to soft and tNice tutorials helped trendously as a beginner. Thank you so so much for tNice tutorials!!

you're a great teacher, love the simplicity, with details! subbed!
Ey man, love your videos! Especially your funny way of teaching. It's like I'm laughing and learning stuff at the same time. Keep up the good work!
your tutorial was awesome and I made the part. I really liked how you told us why you do it a certain way and didn't just tell us to do it like with the creating plane portions.
Excellent video. Clearly explained all the basics to get started on soft soft. Thanks
Absolutely love this. Only 1 confusion i had was when u referred to mm as a mil.
In my exp a mil is a thou of an inch. But that's no biggie
TNice tutorials is exactly what I needed to understand the UI. Great tutorial!
It was so hard not to leave a like. Absolutely helpful and lovely tutorial. Long but didn't really mind because your energy is just amazing.

1. Sketch Inner Dia., OD Dia. with key and arm with a hole.
2. Extrude the Inner and outer dia.
3. Share the sketch
4. extrude the arm with a hole.
5. fillet the arm
6. Circular pattern step. 4 & 5
7. chamfer done.
very nice video man.
