I've restored all 4 games of the 1970 Week 9 Howard Cosell halftime highlights segment, shown during the ABC Monday Night Football broadcast, Cardinals at Cowboys, on November 16, 1970.
The halftime highlight segments were always notorious for using awful-quality clips (way too bright, blown out, not crisp, etc). I found high-quality clips of the same shots/plays from the 1970 Week 9 'This Week in Pro Football' show and other films and replaced the original clips with these.
I have re-created the original ABC on-screen graphics.
In some cases the original clips were a bit longer than the replacement shots, or I didn't have footage at all for certain plays, and so I truncated parts of the narration or even omitted a play to make things fit.
I worked on the original audio a bit, applying hiss and noise reduction.
For comparison's sake, you can see the original quality segment here and be blown away by the upgrade --- th-cam.com/video/I2hCBRvI748/w-d-xo.html

I would like to offer a retroactive correction, 52 years after the fact, for Howard Cosell. Number 21 on the Vikings was JIM Lindsey, not Dale Lindsey.

Dale Lindsey was a linebacker for the Browns

Yes, from Arkansas. Terrific all around player.

The Cowboys also got their asses kick by the Vikings in 70.

It was Dallas not the Vikings that won the NFC that year though so. 🖕

I remember this Cardinals/Cowboys game. The Cardinals went on to win 38-0 and the Cowboys' former QB Don Meredith (who was working with ABC as an announcer with Mr.Cosell) said he was absolutely "ashamed" at how bad the Cowboys played. However, the Cowboys would go on to win the NFC Championship that year but lose in SB V to Baltimore.

This night the Cowboys on their first appearance on Monday Night Football were slaughtered by the Cardinals 38-0

Dallas lost two games to the Cards in 1970 scoring 7 allowing 58. Yet Dallas won the division 10-4 and lost the Super Bowl (they should have won) while the Cards who started 7-2 would finish 8-5-1. In the end, the same old Cards watched the playoffs on TV.

I wonder how many game balls were provided in 1970...notice how the official always tried to grab the ball immediately after the touchdown for the PAT attempt. It seems like they change balls every other play these days.

Giants would lose that Monday night game in Philly-their last loss until the final week when the Rams KOed the G-Men's playoff hopes with a 31-3 win.

Watching the highlights were Minnesota beat Detroit Detroit then had a one loss record of five wins and four losses but after that game they rambled off five straight wins to make the playoffs

Despite having no Namath, the Jets were deep with talent at the pass catching positions having the same trio who won III two years before and adding Richard Caster and Eddie Bell

So nice to hear “The Redskins,” the real football team, not the politically correct shite name they have now.
