Lara was facing hard times , both on the personal (health, love betrayal and breakup) and professional (her progress blocked in the US by her own record company) sides. Her fanbase knew most of it and wanted to show support and they used this song, one of her biggest hits in France, replacing the title” Je t’aime / I love you” by “On t’aime / We love you”. I love how Lara, after the initial surprise, establishes a beautiful dialog with the crowd, giving them room to sing with her. It shows how benevolent and humble she is. Her fan club was in the audience with lyric sheets to do this for her. Her accompanist set it up as a devotion to Lara who was having a rough patch at the time. I think she was tipped off that something was afoot but even then it took her by surprise when it happened.

Very nice reaction to this performance from Lara. Even if Lara on stage is magnificent because that is where we feel all the emotional charge of her interpretations, we should not neglect her official video clips, which are often very beautiful.
Did you notice the audience changed a word in the chorus? Lara sang "Je t'aime" (which means I love you), but the audience sang "On t'aime" and that means WE love you. I think Lara herself didn't notice it at first, but when she did, you can see that moment in the video. This was the first video I ever watched from her (the original video) back in 2003, I think. Never thought about it till about 10 years ago and looked it up again. And then the whole world seems to have noticed her. 😃

Please take some recommendations from Lara-fans, as the ones you have picked do not really represent a very solid introduction to her amazing talents. Her concert "From Lara with Love" is considered a gold standard performance among the master vocalists out there, and Dimash himself grew up with that as his inspiration. Please check out the live version of "Adagio" from that concert, and you will see why we will always recommend the live versions. Other standouts from that concert are: "Jes suis malade", "Caruso", "La Perdere L'amore", "Broken Vow".
