Same. I would love to play these older formats, but they're definitely waaaay too expensive.

Really? I’ve built retro decks from base- fossil, rocket-on, base neo etc and everything I bought was 100-200 $
Not bad considering most new decks for standard, are the same or more now.

The rulings back in the day were crazy. I’m excited to see how the current format will be viewed in the future.

I'll have to find this old deck build I had because it would piss people off so much. The whole deck was based around running down your opponent's deck. I remember my main card was Dark Tyranitar, and that the deck was full of defensive cards and Metal Energies lol. I miss playing this game so much!

these ruling go back further than the end of the WotC era, it’s because they made ruling with knowledge of MTG and those game mechanics. The reason Howl worked is because of how effects on “the stack” work.

    • @oodalumps
      @oodalumps 3 ปีที่แล้ว

That's only a misconception spread by Jason Klaczynski. The issue stems from the phrase "when you play". From the perspective of MTG rules, that would mean the Pokepower goes into effect before the Entei even enters the battlefield (MTG effect "Cascade" is an example of this). The idea is that Muk should stop Pokepowers of cards in play, but not Pokepowers of cards BEING played. Still an incorrect ruling, but "the stack" isn't to blame.

Its funny that the muk entai original ruling technically was right funnily enough the ruling comes from magic enter would be considered an etb ability as it activate when it hits the board however the muk only gets to stop it if its ability is an ability you activate once its on board.

    • @Aaron0000014
      @Aaron0000014 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

It says ignore all pokemon powers besides toxic gas, if howl triggers on etb than it wouldn't work since it is on the field before ability triggers. The ruling basically was that it triggers before entering when you go to play it from your hand which is confusing and wrong.

Wait! Flip coin to get two energy into the deck??
We've had Energy Retrieval since Base Set! Why would you use a card where it wasn't guaranteed!? Guess Energy Retrieval came back after this card caused too much frustration lmao! x)

I've made a lot of this comments recently. This is the last expanded deck I've created open to suggestions. It's a pikarom deck for expanded post-rotation. What do you think?
    Pokemon:
    2 pikachu&zekrom gx
    2 boltund V
    1 tapu koko V
    1 raichu&alolan raichu gx
    1 zeraora gx
    2 dedene gx
    1 eldegoss V
    4 jirachi
    tapu koko (*)
    Trainers:
    Thunder mountain (*)
    4 electropower
    4 quick ball
    3 tag call
    2 great catcher
    2 switch
    2 volkner
    2 guzma&hala
    2 escape board
    2 electrocharger
    2 mallow&lana
    2 big charm
    2 professors research
    3 boss's orders
    Energy:
    4 speed energy
    8 electric

Dunno if he has discord but if he does you'd have more luck there. But for your deck, Vs seekers are better to get back supporters than eldegoss. Shaymin ex and scoop up net draw engine is best. You'd probably want computer search as your ace spec. Max elixir is also best for energy accel. I think Andrew has a video on expanded pikarom that goes more in depth.
