The one side relies heavily on feelings, the other side relies on the Word of God. It is so important to study the scriptures.

Dear Dr. Brown & Dr. White,
Can you help me with this?
The Scripture gives no indication that Naomi was anything but a normal, healthy (mentally & emotionally stable) First Covenant Jewish woman with no reason to suppose any sexual or sinful perversion like female homosexuality. And likewise, Ruth, though a Mo-aw-bee' gentile... there is NO reason to imply female homosexuality ! THIS RATIONALE IS ABSURD !
      (FORGET IT !)
And the men who were the townsmen and elders were all godly, honorable men under the First Covenant !
Where, in the name of the Lord, did this mere notion come in, that Boaz & Ruth were in sex sin?
Verse 3:11 states clearly, that EVERYONE in the situation (and in the town KNEW) that Ruth was a woman of excellence, of noble character, of worth... A VIRTUOUS WOMAN ! ! ! This ofcourse, means NOT a harlot, NOT an adulteress, NOT a female homosexual !
And the absurd statement that Boaz and Ruth were not properly married ? ? ?
(IS THIS A PERSON DESPERATELY GRABBING AT STRAWS FOR EXCUSES FOR THEIR OWN LIFE ?)
Ruth, Chapter 4, Verse 13 b, CLEARLY states...
      13 So Boaz took Ruth,
      and she BECAME HIS WIFE,
and he went in to her. (....)
HOW WERE THESE TWO NOT PROPERLY JOINED IN A GODLY MARRIAGE.
They certainly were not in sex sin.

@zempath oh, the bible says Hebrews 12:2 KJV
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
The bible did not say looking unto another man and not even the pharisees nor the pastors but Jesus as our example and LORD and SAVIOUR. No one will stand for another on the day of judgement. Pharisees self, won't stand for their children. Let everyone hold his/her head.

Dr. Brown and Dr. White did an excellent job of explaining their theological arguments simply for their audience to understand, while using just the right amount of technical vocabulary to demonstrate their expertise. They were not talking over the heads of their audience in an attempt to laud their learnedness over the audience. An excellent example of good teaching.

It is possible for a gay person to change, it's not easy, but what in life is really. Hi, I don't know if you still feel the same way you did when you posted. But, I am wondering if you have ever seen Netflix's "Pray Away"? Same-sex-attracted Christians came to realize that gay conversion was harmful. Although one can change their behaviors, they can't change their feelings. Mankind hates, not God. 1946 saw "homosexuality" inserted into the Bible. It was mistranslated. There's a trailer on TH-cam about it. Also, in 1973, homosexuality was de-classsified as a mental disorder. Humanity and human sexuality deserves the truth and love.

Listening to this again, Ruth said “Young people today don’t need rules” don’t need rules!? Young people today more than ever need rules, God gave us rules and laws to live by and she’s says “they don’t need rules they need love” if you love your kids you will give them rules, guidelines and boundaries to live by and they thrive, you just have to see kids and young people who don’t have rules to know Young People Need Rules! If you love your kids you will discipline them just as God disciplines us and you know how and why to apply discipline because of rules and guidelines.

Just stumbled on this debate. I was gay and hated christians. I had a friend invite me to church and I went and I was super offended. I continued going though because something was drawing me back. Eventually, I was filled with the Holy Spirit and as soon as I surrendered my life (including my sexuality) to God, He delivered me!! All same sex desires were removed and I was given new life. All of the scriptures I once hated made so much sense now and everything came together. You have to be willing to surrender everything to your very core to allow God to transform you. Base your walk with Christ on His word, not your experience and feelings.

I have to say this is one of the best debates I've ever watched. Yes, one side goes with feelings and experiences and the other side uses scripture and that was very obvious. However,
with the way the world is today with all the hatred and the division in America this debate, is textbook on how it's supposed to be done. The church that put this on should be commended as well it was totally professional and as a Christian it made me proud. Both sides treated their opponent, with great respect and dignity. I never heard one derogatory or mean spirited word from either side! I watched and listened to every minute. The discourse in our country right now is in the gutter and these four people made me proud, this how it is supposed to be, we may disagree but we don't demean each other and make fools of ourselves. It just shows you can stand for your convictions and faith without going in the gutter, calling names and making yourself look crazy. Well done to all four participants. Great job to Dr. Brown and Dr. White as well as Ruth and Duane though I disagreed with the affirmative side, they were absolutely respectful, courteous and professional and I commend them. God bless.

It was clearer than clear that you were simply taking HIS statement to its logical conclusion and he tried to flip it on you saying "so YOU'RE saying incest is moral?"
"Jesus didn't say incest was bad but Paul did."
"But Paul said homosexuality was bad."
    "Well, Paul was imperfect."
"So...why don't you apply that logic to incest then?"

The 15 minute rebuttal has no substance to scriptural references. This comes from not studying the word to understand what they are reading. Second, love is a very big word. I ask how many of those in this homosexual life style have been wounded? And so does love becomes something that they look for and/or never fulfilled? As for being able to procreate, then why did God tell Noah to take the animals two by two and the words repeats that they were male and female, male and female...in Genesis 7 the words “male and female” reads throughout this chapter....

I did very much enjoyed watching Dr Brown and Dr White make their arguments. They were exceptional. The affirming side had very little to say biblically. Their full argument and theology is “love”, “love God and love people.” One apologist says that God is love but progressives believe love is God which is not the same. • @LindaIBrown

You cannot separate the Old Testament from the New Testament. The two books are entwined. You have to know what you are reading and studying to understand where the Old Testament is referenced at in the New Testament. To foreshadow means to reference to something. It’s clear that many people do not read and study the Bible enough to understand the fullness of the word of God. I haven’t always understood the Bible but my relationship with God and seeking Him has opened my eyes to the deeper illumination of His word...
Again for Ruth, it’s not about the sex so you said, I have to ask anyone in this lifestyle - have you fully forgiven yourself of all your pass wounds? Love, looking for love in all the wrong places. Those in this lifestyle have not fully embraced the agape love Jesus Christ, for if you did, the Holy Spirit would convict you and you’d turn from your sin, whatever your sin would be.

    • @LindaIBrown
      @LindaIBrown 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Esko Elmwood Then you didn’t read the Bible with clear understanding to understand slavery or homosexual activities. I am not homophobic. I love all people and hate to see anyone fall prey to the devil’s plans. Once again, those in this lifestyle have fortified their legacies and erased who they are when they die. They leave nothing when they die. When they die so does their dreams and aspirations. They can’t produce seed (children, mankind) to replenish the earth. This was God’s commandment given to his creation of male and female. Then he sealed the deal in union as in marriage when he male cleaved to the woman and left mother and father (parents) to be as one. Pray and ask God to reveal His truth. He will unwrap His word for your understanding and lead you to those who can help you understand completely the word. Find a good Holy Ghost filled person who can teach you truth. @@LindaIBrown If you are not a supporter of slavery then you do not agree with the words written in the bible. so why cherry pick what you want to believe or not believe from book like that? There are dozens of verses speaking about how to treat slaves, and when you should beat them, how to go about selling your daughters into slavery. The book is disgusting by today's standards. If taken in the context of the times then yes it is absolutely normal, but we don't live in times of illiteracy. Finally to read passages like those found in Timothy and come away with anything other than a direct reference to how the bible supports an institution that has been amended in the constitution as a crime against humanity, you are lying to yourself.
What people do in the privacy of their own homes is none of your business. What creator god that is capable of making the universe would give a crap about how people have sex. The would is full of much bigger issues that have put humanity in imminent danger, such as human trafficking, or natural disasters.

Esko Elmwood you are misinformed and there’s no cherry picking about how God feels about homosexuality or any other sexual sin which changes the order of His human creation. My suggestion, that you truly seek God on ALL His word and not pick and chose what is comfort for your flesh. Pray first before you read the Bible, and find you a good place to truly learn, research and study the word of God. You are misinformed. The subject is homosexuality according to God’s word. Be careful what you focus on that divides you. God bless and I pray you find peace and truth in God.

The LGBTQ debaters call Jesus their Lord and Savior, but to call Him Lord is to truly submit to His Authority.
Jesus has not only been with the Father since eternity past but is also equal to and has always been in perfect agreement and unity with the Father. Thus, since the Father has spoken against homosexuality as an act of sin, and since the prophets and Apostles are God's messengers who are not bringing their own word but the Word of God through His direct voice and through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, operating in Godly Authority, being Commissioned by Jesus Christ, then Jesus has spoken very plainly on this when this is read and understood in its full and proper context.
For Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, you first have to repent and put your trust in Him, following and obeying Him. If there is not full submission to His perfect Way, living a life of daily repentance and warring against your flesh, then there is no Messianic Lordship. That doesn't mean you'll be sinless, but it does mean you'll fight against it and not swim in sin, though you may fall in a proverbial puddle at times as you struggle in the Spirit to overcome the things your flesh wars for.
If Jesus is not your Lord then He's not your Savior either. You can't defiantly choose to do whatever you want, regardless of God's instruction, command and demand, and yet count yourself amongst God's Number, nor would you want to, if you are truly in Him. His desires will become your desires; the closer you get to the LORD, and the more beautiful He becomes to you, the less you'll want to do that which is displeasing to Him. The glory of the LORD will steadily become more glorious than your most tempting of temptations to the point that they are less and less tempting because you have something much better in Christ and because it pleases you to please Him.
Christ is also the originator of the OT...not just the NT. In fact, Jesus said that all of Scripture points to Him, and the death and resurrection of Christ is the story of the entire OT, displayed through so many types and shadows, it's deafening. This is willful rejection of the Word of God and actually fulfills the prophecies of Romans 1 and Jeremiah 17:9. Feelings can be misleading, deceitful and wrong. What matters is what's TRUE. JESUS is The Truth, and He speaks loudly throughout all of Scripture. Please don't ignore His voice. Hear Him and obey...even when it hurts. Judgement hurts much worse.

At the 155 mark.. That's what I've been saying all along, Ruth! It is The Holy Spirit of God that will convict you (not condemn) of living a life that is contrary to how you were designed. We can receive Jesus while practicing homosexuality but we will not practice homosexuality for very long once we have been born again because The Holy Spirit WILL (not if) begin a work in us that leads us away from homosexuality. Our very own bodies testify against us when we act contrary to their design and the Holy Spirit absolutely causes us to eventually be convicted for homosexuality on a spiritual level. That is two witnesses, Ruth, and therefore it is established. That's why when you tried to pin down dr. Brown with your "the Holy Spirit told me".. "you cant tell me God didn't tell me this", Doctor Brown very gracefully and gently let you expose yourself as not having the Holy Spirit of God within you. How did he do that? By merely stating that the Holy Spirit does not contradict the truth of scripture. It is love to speak the truth in a loving kind way and that's exactly what dr. Brown did for you. Love does not mean to allow. Love requires a scalpel not a machete. Dr. Brown and dr. White, you both did a tremendous job. I am going to eventually talk about this debate. May you live a long life.

God's gospel brought those who a believe by His amazing grace. We are forgiven our wrong doing. We as Christians still struggle but we get up and repent. Our job is not to judge but show the kindness of God which leads to repentance.

Very gracious debate, but you can see that the inconsistencies by the affirming side have to rely on their feelings or manipulation of the Word to justify what’s clearly identified as sin, they’re not carful with the Word. It’s what all sinners do to justify living in their sins.
Salvation and hence grace was freely given through justice against sin not in spite of it, it was given at a very high price.

I find it strange that they know nothing about the theology of things, they go only by feels. They can't argue the Bible at all, but they want to argue something they've only studied by ignoring everything that doesn't work for their argument. The scariest part for me of the two people on the right is that the scripture says "Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we will incur a stricter judgment" James 3:1. These folks are the blind leading the blind and keeping them blind. The lady even alluded to the universalist idea that any religion is a way to God. These guys simply are way out of their depth. Not because they aren't debaters, but because they don't really know the Word. He can memorize all He wants, but clearly he is following the gospel of feelings not Christ.

So even despite his words being Holy Spirit inspired, they were also technically Jesus's words, except for the 2 or 3 times Paul said he speaks of himself, not a command of the Lord.

Great debate. Only one side of the debate really sought to present the actual teaching of the Bible. The other side had to stretttttch and twiiist things in order to avoid what the Bible says about homosexuality. The idea that the book of Ruth is an explicit endorsement of lesbianism is frankly absurd. It is someone’s desperate attempt to find something and, when it isn’t there, simply declaring that it is. And the assertion that we must only use lexicons that are a hundred years old (as if we haven’t learned anything about Koine Greek in the last century) is also a terrible position to take.
It comes down to this: The Bible condemns homosexuality over and over and it never once endorses it. Not one time.
Having said all that, I genuinely appreciated the politeness of both sides.
