They also force you to reload which makes no sense. We should be able to shoot the bow, switch weapons, and then reload after switching back to bow. If we can't block with the bow, then they should probably tweak that.
That’s what I’ve been running. Fire ant armor/shield + rusty spear + javelineer mutation. The debuffs you’re able to hand out to enemies is outstanding for survivability and killing capabilities.
its unfortunate that out of all the armour in the game, I still use lady bug armour with compliance badge and a lvl 9 mighty broodmother club... theres nothing I cant kill and survive with ease. I think some of the DOT effects on other armour needs a buff to make them more attractive.
i think black ox armor is actually pretty solid. it's designed to be used with charge attacks, but those take a long time to wind-up, leaving you very vulnerable to damage (unless you plan to cancel your attacks over-and-over again until you get a perfect window). some enemies will cancel your charge-up with their attacks, but it seems like the vast majority of them won't. increasing the stun further alleviates potential sources of damage, giving you even more leeway to focus on dealing damage. it's not the craziest or most skill-intensive set but i'd say it's a perfectly good option. combining it with the prod smacker is a really good cheese strat, allowing you to practically stunlock certain enemies like the infected wolf spider and the broodmother. i feel like this will be addressed in the future, but i think it's worth giving a shot before then.
i never realized what the charging means? is it when you hold att button for longer time? whats the benefit of doing so? only good on the third att of combo?
@@sebastianscherer6897 i think its the same amount of damage as the third attack of a combo? im not totally sure if there's any real benefit to it without this set
widow chest and legs with mask of the mother demon is insane. Bleed from assassin mutation, poison from the dagger plus widow armor, Extra poison from poison nova. This combo carried me through the endgame melting all enemies and bosses.
1 other thing that applies bleed is the assassin mutation - Daggers apply bleed. There for you could test by applying bleed with feather arrows and then slashing with a bone knife and see if the bleed tick increases
Theres a secret thing about the fire ant armor i havnt seen anyone use the acid it can shoot out counts as an unarmed attack for some reason so that means it can trigger truffle tussle
It should also be mentioned that with poison builds all poison effects are unique so you can stack 5-6 different poisons on an enemy if you are carrying all 3 poison daggers, both poison arrow types, and the broodmother mask. The DPS is actually crazy when you add all of them together makes it dumb easy to solo beefy enemies.
Each individual poison source does more damage, so poison with motmd with widow dagger adds poison coating, nova, and widow dagger poison, each one of those count as individual poison
Personally I've been using a mix. Broodmother mask with fire and chest and moth legs along with fire ant shield. Mostly use bow but have the shield for use with the rust spear. The damage over time effects in the game don't seem that great alone but I feel like mixing them and adding in things like corrosion really does seem to add up
On the fire ant armour if u use it it's best to have Javelineer mutation at level 3 with the rusty spear because javelineer mutation increases the chance to lower defense of enemies and the rusty spear has infection which with every hit it lowers defense and makes them slower
Infection slows attack speed and lower attack damage. It makes very fast attack bugs slower and slow bugs really slow while making attacks not that powerful.
I've been using the fire ant armour. It's a great all rounder armour think. And so happy about the durability being Double I was going though a set of armour daily so I think that was much needed. Also I use the mint staff lvl 9 and the wizard hat to kill ladybirds, it kills them pretty quick. It's not the quickest but it's a fun fight.
I was able to fully stunlock the director by using full sleek mantis with the weapon. I ran apex, buff lungs, cardio fan, coup, and assassin (I know the bleed doesn't work). And with it I was able to crit enough to stun him before he could summon any mobs or turn on any lasers.
Yeah even though the prod smacker got nerfed (there is a glitch to get it but they should have just patched that instead of nerf) if you're playing on mild or medium it does a really good amount of damage when spamming charged attacks
Currently running an early-mid game poison build. Running fully upgraded rot spear and brood helm. Using the rotten berry charm. Gives double proc of poison, plus red ant shield. Using spider armor, since I have yet to kill a Widow.
I've been using black ant with the broodmother mask. Stack a lot of crit and damages. I'll swap out the mask for wizard hat if I'm going to use the staff a lot but I still usually just stick to the brood mask.
So what I'm getting from the difference between bleed and poison is that: poison can do more damage but it doesn't affect everything, while bleed doesn't do that much damage but affects everything (maybe excluding black widow)
I actually love the roly poly armor as a solo player. If only for the massive amount of defense it provides. Also i really wish this game had an option to show hitsplats. I'd love to be able to see a number amount when I hit things.
I feel like testing the armors only bases on raw damage output defeats the point. Most of the bonuses actually are useful either in groups or while getting attacked can actually get you hurt
this is just speculation, but I feel the black ox armor is more for a slow heavy hitting weapon like the clubs and maces. the play style would be more of a hit and run kind of tactic where you charge up your attack and hit once and run away or block an attack. though it doesnt really make it more useful though since you want to do a 3 hit combo most of the time and I dont think there is an enemy that only has small opening where you can only attack once. maybe against flying enemies? not sure.
While it's definitely not what I think they should prioritize, I would love more "full coverage" variants of them. Right now, it's hard to achieve an aesthetic when it only covers like 10% of the teen. I'd love to really embrace the inner insect, and cover all the default 90s outfit with the armor.
I started using the poison build I have black widow feet, chest, and then I have the brood mother mask paired with the black widow dagger all maxed except the dagger and I’m one tier away and it absolutely melts and even when you’re not hitting an enemy it still slowly takes their health down
A good combo (ONLY IF UR PLAYING SOLO) for anything thats not a spider is sleek upgraded termite, mask of the mother demon, and, and any good shinguards because poison nova and dust cloud can help for a solid bar of damage depending on the insect (poison coating is whats broken but poisen nova works perfectly fine i saw a video of someone using it during the newest update and it was working)
fire ant armor sleek with the spear feels REALLY good For the poison build, try out mom genes and the brood mother trinket, its feels pretty good :) (with the same armor and weapon you had on)
Coup de grass tier 2 plus trapper peeper on top of what ever smoothies you have… using a weapon like the a sword or dagger with a crit/shield build is definitely viable
I pair the black ox armor with the two handed robot arm thingy cuz it does a Shockwave with crazy aoe stun plus the stun bonus and charge bonus it's great for the Tully raid thing
I've been using mask of the mother demon with fire ant chest and legs and it's been doing really well. The damage from the mask and debuff from the fire ant armor as well as using fire ant shield.
Use all the poison weapons (spider fang, widow dagger, lavra sword, rotten lavra sword, and the club of the mother demon with apex predator) with the armor all stacks up and melts bugs. That might be a big but that is how I saw it done. If it is intensional that makes poison good
Been using sleek Spider armor with the Broodmother mask and the widow Dagger (I'll replace the spider armor with the widow armor when I can) and I can hit most bugs with 3 or 4 hits and my Poison will kill them after. I love the build.
Are there any new traps ? My brother and I are playing on woah difficulty and we're trying to make a lethal food trap for farming aphids and weevils. Sure the non lethal trap works but it's not as efficient for mass farming.
After some testing, the best all-around set I've found is the Broodmother Mask (sleek) and the Mantis chest and legs (sleek as well), with the Club of the Mother Demon as your default weapon (mine is mighty level 7 or something, but upgrade as you see fit). Apex Predator, Coup De Grass 2, and Mom Genes mutation. I can take down a Black Ox Beetle in 1 or 2 combos... sometimes not even that much if you get a lucky proc and get all 3 status effects on a mob. Something satisfying about swinging a few times and then backing off and watching the enemy melt from Bleed/Poison/Venom stacks. The poison cloud procs are nice aoe effects, the club can hit multiple bugs at once, and even the ladybirds (tier 2 black ladybug things) die in a single combo. One of those "best defense is a good offense" things lol
Sleek Ladybug armor is the GOAT IMHO. Pair it with the heal on parry badge and a good shield and a fast weapon like the toenail Scimitar you become unconquerable!
If I remember correctly, Black Ant Armor used to be heavy armor and have increased stun for the piece bonus. Roly Poly Armor attracts enemies, so I used to swap between the Black Ant Armor and the Roly Poly Armor. Now, it doesn't seem as good as it used to. They should definitely change the Black Ant Armor back to heavy armor because right now it feels like the Ladybug Armor is better.
They buffed Clover gear, it now reduces damage from "Tier 1 creatures" by 5% per piece, making Mites, Soldier Ants, Larvae, and other creatures basically harmless to you. Inversely, I think Grub Armor now provides a 5% damage boost per piece to those creatures. I play permadeath, and the Clover Gear helps me survive on Whoa until I get to Ladybug Armor around day 4.
Rolly polly armor is just a tank build it doesnt have any defects other than being heaving armor, consuming more stamina. And the sleek version makes it even better with stronger blocking strength and with the ladybird shield you dont take damage from bugs except for bosses. Best combo is definitely assassin chest plate with rolly poly leggings and the mask of the motherdemon with apex predator makes the scythe super crazy
It's worth mentioning, mask of the mother demon, and termite armor are medium and light armors with the resistance of heavy and medium armor, so you use less stamina for more resistance.
Debuffs displaying on the enemy health bar would be helpful in knowing these items are functioning properly instead of just guessing off health drain that we think its applied. but thats asking a lot of developers today i guess
I love the role poly armour in single player because just tier 5 or 6 helped me beat the mant first try and when I needed too it helped me kill black ox beetles
After fully maxing the roly poly armor I take nearly no damage. Even on my solo build i use stronger melee weapons, plus with Sara’s charm and being able to master my perfect blocking and using coup de grass I never have to repair the weapon or sheild
I use one piece black ant with two piece Koi. All leveled sleek, for increased block window and hyperstamina after block(crit). This with blademaster and mighty tick sword is very good everywhere (if you're perfect blocking)
1 thing i never tried yet . Is a perfect block build with the mutation that release lightning. + spear for lower resist . and watch if you can kill tier 3 stuff by only blocking hahaha
Just so you know , you can't test any status damage effect ON hit in creative mod since it does t proc. Tried poison build , wasnt working in creative but when in a normal game, they work greats. fire ant armor + any fast weapon to procs status / widow dagguer + full spider set means you can kill any bugs in 3 sec . Black ant + coup de grace + javelineer + bee spear . perfect block into mass crit. all of those doesnt work in creative from what i know :)
I like using the black ox armor with the prod smacker since the prod does the electric attack every charged attack. It's not that good I just mainly use it for fun
Apex predator with the club of the mother demon, mask, and widow chest and legs does a really good poison build become apex predator usually is applying poison and white poison stacks can kill an ox beetle from 25%
Haha 😂 I just realized what problem you were having for the moth armour. In some cases the crossbow isn't seen as a bow. The set said bleed procs for staves and bows, so it was never proc-ing (excuse my typing of proc, I don't remember how it's written) the bleed with the crossbow, but as we saw, the moment you switched to staves it procced the bleed.
The devs deciding to make every tier of armor have the same amount of defense is so stupid. It really feels like you’re not progressing them as much, you just get one set of armor and you’re good on defense.
When you use the mask of the brood mother or anything else that has +poison, does it work on any weapon or only weapons that had poison on it to begin with like the club of the mother demon?
I can easily kill the praying mantis so every time I start a new world the first thing I do the absolute first thing I do is instantly jump from no armor to either ladybug armor, or will be poly armor

Well, no, there are two handed weapons you can't use a shield w so why would you get to use a shield w a bow!? I've never seen or heard of using a shield w a bow...
@@corneliusagrippa4613 you can block with a two handed weapon. I'm not saying we should be able to hold a shield. Just be able to block just like with any other weapon, or be able to switch weapons before the crossbow reloads.
@@thisismelsemail1217 Blocking with the bow/crossbow would be so OP IMO, but you shoul be able to swap the crossbow without reloading, mosquitos are annoyng AF mate.
They also force you to reload which makes no sense. We should be able to shoot the bow, switch weapons, and then reload after switching back to bow. If we can't block with the bow, then they should probably tweak that.
If you use the rusty spear you could use javlineer, which also reduces defense with a chance per hit
@@3kto thanks for reply =)
widow chest and legs with mask of the mother demon is insane. Bleed from assassin mutation, poison from the dagger plus widow armor, Extra poison from poison nova. This combo carried me through the endgame melting all enemies and bosses.
Using Mask of the Mother Demon "sleek" with Widow armour works well with widow dagger due to the mask's poison nova effect!
1 other thing that applies bleed is the assassin mutation - Daggers apply bleed. There for you could test by applying bleed with feather arrows and then slashing with a bone knife and see if the bleed tick increases
you should do testing with another player so you can see the exact damage and durations of the effects
He has no friends though lmao
Theres a secret thing about the fire ant armor i havnt seen anyone use the acid it can shoot out counts as an unarmed attack for some reason so that means it can trigger truffle tussle
It should also be mentioned that with poison builds all poison effects are unique so you can stack 5-6 different poisons on an enemy if you are carrying all 3 poison daggers, both poison arrow types, and the broodmother mask. The DPS is actually crazy when you add all of them together makes it dumb easy to solo beefy enemies.
only for really skilled people, who can afford switching between all those weapons while fighting tough enemies,... so nothing for a casual player imo
Is upping their tier increase the damage too from poison which they inflict?
a thing i would like to see is a little debuff icon one the bugs health when you apply bleed/poisen or other forms for debuff's
The black ox armour could be useful with prod smacker cause u have to charge it up to the electrical attack
Yeah even though the prod smacker got nerfed (there is a glitch to get it but they should have just patched that instead of nerf) if you're playing on mild or medium it does a really good amount of damage when spamming charged attacks
@@steelslide9601 I didn't see the nerf in the patch notes. They just fixed the glitch to get it, right?
@@jdsfinest3954 they changed the weapon type from sword to club
@@steelslide9601 they did both changed the weapon type and patched where you can cheese it through the wall
From my experience the Gas/Super Gas arrows seem to be crowd control or for lucky shots
Currently running an early-mid game poison build. Running fully upgraded rot spear and brood helm. Using the rotten berry charm. Gives double proc of poison, plus red ant shield. Using spider armor, since I have yet to kill a Widow.
Lady bug armor is definitely my new favorite with the life steel tick sword and parry healing 💯
Immortal build. Especially if you are tanking for multiplayer.
I'd love to be able to see a number amount when I hit things.
can you give some advice to manage to prevent to much damage from ladybird larvas and fireants
@@icemancer2915 practice parrying on weaker versions. If the ladybird larvas burn is getting you just wear antlion armor.
@@justinmacdonald2102 I can perfect parry block them but the times they do hit they take like 30 percent of my health with the roly poly armor on
I feel like testing the armors only bases on raw damage output defeats the point. Most of the bonuses actually are useful either in groups or while getting attacked can actually get you hurt
I’m a huge advocate of the rolly polly armor, maxed out bulk build, I can take a lot of hits solo. 1v1 manager assistant, orc boss, etc all easy
The assassin mutation with widow or moth armor with a spider fang or widow dagger make you cause a lot of bleed or poison
The Ranged Cut on the Moth Armor just means that it adds a chance to bleed targets it has nothing to do with already having bleed on your weapon
this is just speculation, but I feel the black ox armor is more for a slow heavy hitting weapon like the clubs and maces. the play style would be more of a hit and run kind of tactic where you charge up your attack and hit once and run away or block an attack.
though it doesnt really make it more useful though since you want to do a 3 hit combo most of the time and I dont think there is an enemy that only has small opening where you can only attack once. maybe against flying enemies? not sure.
They need to make alternate looks for all armor pieces.
While it's definitely not what I think they should prioritize, I would love more "full coverage" variants of them. Right now, it's hard to achieve an aesthetic when it only covers like 10% of the teen. I'd love to really embrace the inner insect, and cover all the default 90s outfit with the armor.
Man, it's easy. Fire Ant Armor for roaming in the yard. Sleek Lady Bug for bosses with a life steal weapon. It's that simple.
I started using the poison build I have black widow feet, chest, and then I have the brood mother mask paired with the black widow dagger all maxed except the dagger and I’m one tier away and it absolutely melts and even when you’re not hitting an enemy it still slowly takes their health down
A good combo (ONLY IF UR PLAYING SOLO) for anything thats not a spider is sleek upgraded termite, mask of the mother demon, and, and any good shinguards because poison nova and dust cloud can help for a solid bar of damage depending on the insect (poison coating is whats broken but poisen nova works perfectly fine i saw a video of someone using it during the newest update and it was working)
fire ant armor sleek with the spear feels REALLY good
For the poison build, try out mom genes and the brood mother trinket, its feels pretty good :) (with the same armor and weapon you had on)
Coup de grass tier 2 plus trapper peeper on top of what ever smoothies you have… using a weapon like the a sword or dagger with a crit/shield build is definitely viable
If it is intensional that makes poison good
That is too many items to be holding to make something good. I would rather used something less and still get the job done.
Been using sleek Spider armor with the Broodmother mask and the widow Dagger (I'll replace the spider armor with the widow armor when I can) and I can hit most bugs with 3 or 4 hits and my Poison will kill them after. I love the build.
@11:30 I think those ants were also attacking the ox beetle so hard to tell what the bleed damage was.
The ox armor works ok with Staffs as you would not have a set bonus you would use the wizard hat combined all with the mutation
If you use a full black ant set it gives you thorns or bugs take damage from damaging you
Are there any new traps ?
My brother and I are playing on woah difficulty and we're trying to make a lethal food trap for farming aphids and weevils.
Sure the non lethal trap works but it's not as efficient for mass farming.
Nope. Spike is only trap. And it is worthless.
@@DarthPoyner I know i wish they hadn't removed the tripwire trap
Ong bro I love ladybug armor so much
Black ox armor with the prod smacker that does electricity shock with every charged attack would also work well.
Bleed damage typically only affects a target when it moves/attacks. The Black ox you fought seemed to only be losing extra health when moving 🤷🏻♂️
aren't the ants and ladybird attacking it too?
My favorite set is moth armor. I guess they made it better since this vid but I proc with the black ox bow every other shot
Bee spear with the shelf with coup de grass gives pretty good crits
Rolly polly armor is just a tank build it doesnt have any defects other than being heaving armor, consuming more stamina. And the sleek version makes it even better with stronger blocking strength and with the ladybird shield you dont take damage from bugs except for bosses. Best combo is definitely assassin chest plate with rolly poly leggings and the mask of the motherdemon with apex predator makes the scythe super crazy
I think soloing a Mix.R can be difficult if you don't attract enemies' attention. Roly Poly armor could be good for that
It's worth mentioning, mask of the mother demon, and termite armor are medium and light armors with the resistance of heavy and medium armor, so you use less stamina for more resistance.
yeah resistance is high but the damage reduction is far less then any heavy armor. The game differetiates between resistance and damage reduction.
@@sebastianscherer6897 how is the mask of the mother demon reducing less damage then the roly poly helm?
Debuffs displaying on the enemy health bar would be helpful in knowing these items are functioning properly instead of just guessing off health drain that we think its applied. but thats asking a lot of developers today i guess
I love the role poly armour in single player because just tier 5 or 6 helped me beat the mant first try and when I needed too it helped me kill black ox beetles
I tank with Roly-poly armor my friends almost never take a ht and i allows me to perfect block and stun the hell out of everything including bosses.
After fully maxing the roly poly armor I take nearly no damage. Even on my solo build i use stronger melee weapons, plus with Sara’s charm and being able to master my perfect blocking and using coup de grass I never have to repair the weapon or sheild
The Black Ox armor with Prod Smacker sounds like a good idea right?
I use one piece black ant with two piece Koi. All leveled sleek, for increased block window and hyperstamina after block(crit). This with blademaster and mighty tick sword is very good everywhere (if you're perfect blocking)
1 thing i never tried yet . Is a perfect block build with the mutation that release lightning. + spear for lower resist . and watch if you can kill tier 3 stuff by only blocking hahaha
Thanks for the video! Really informative, I'm going to use this as a reference point for creating my own build :D
I usally do fire ant leggions, termite armor and brood mother helm. Higher tier ones with corrosion, dust and poison nova
Widow Dagger plus assassin mutation plus widow armor. Poison and Bleed combined. Thats what I run and it Slaps all insects except Spiders... naturally
I’m personally really good at parrying so I’m gonna run the mantis armor sleek and tick sword, it’ll be fun
Additional could mean it does bleed in addition to the other damage types.
Roly poly armour at level 9 has got me through pretty much the whole game. I only swap to antlion if I need to go to sandbox
Playing with my friends, I'm lovin the Roly Poly armour for the tank buffs!
I like using the black ox armor with the prod smacker since the prod does the electric attack every charged attack. It's not that good I just mainly use it for fun
Apex predator with the club of the mother demon, mask, and widow chest and legs does a really good poison build become apex predator usually is applying poison and white poison stacks can kill an ox beetle from 25%
Red Ant Armor Set Bonus is that you can go into Ant Hills without conflict.
Black ox beetle set with a fire ant club and the barbarian mutation is hilarious amounts of unga bunga fun
I think a good cold buom would be a spilt cooler next to the table or something 🤔
I can easily kill the praying mantis so every time I start a new world the first thing I do the absolute first thing I do is instantly jump from no armor to either ladybug armor, or will be poly armor
roly poly armor is very useful in endgame especially for bosses easily top 2 gear in game
In this game shredding enemies is far more sought after then tanking them
