    Correction- The bows are Hardboard, not MDF. I stated it incorrectly in the video.

    Nice job, and thanks for the correction on the MDF, which I don't think would hold up very well. Also, I lvie in a very high wind area, and I don't see those bows lasting long. I also appreciated you primed AND painted the wood. It will hold up much better that way.

For example, I am considering making these boxes for the parade with a rolling bases so they can be pulled by lawn mowers. Your creativity is needed in this category. Thanks

    Technically if displaying offset you can leave the back open, thus saving on plywood. So for a box you could only do two sides and the top. 😜 unless you live in a corner lot or really open space. Then it gets expensive. 😂

    Storage for these oversized displays has to be insane. Something I have noticed on quite a few different sites is that none of them address the issue of making these display items easily disassembled down for storage and then easily reassembled the next year. I like the suggestion someone else made for wheels. That would make moving them easier.

    • @HolidayLights-DIYTipsandTricks

      It all unbolts, so should be easy to store. You'll have the lid and four flat walls. One assumes if you're doing this level of decoration, you have somewhere to put it!

    Great informative video! I wonder if 1/4" plywood would be thick enough? 1/2" just sems too thick and would cause those dang boxes to be SUPER heavy when all built. I think it should just be heavy enough NOT to blow away in a winter storm, otherwise the extra weight is unnecessary and the extra cost with today's wood prices!

    • @holidaylightingcreations
      @holidaylightingcreations  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, you should be able to use 1/4”. It would just change the dimensions slightly on the sides. The 2x2 frame should hold it up just fine.

    Did u use MDF for the outside of the round one? And did u build it in 4 quarters as well and let the ribbon hid the seam? Surely it's not one or two sections only... But the sections are triangular in shape, correct?
    Good job btw! Very precise!

    • @holidaylightingcreations
      @holidaylightingcreations  ปีที่แล้ว

      The ribbons are made from hardboard not MDF. I said that incorrectly in the video. You can use hardboard to to make the round gift, but I used poplar sanded plywood because it was flexible. (Bend it slow so it doesn’t break in half) The round one I made it in two halves but you could do 4. I cut a plywood half circle for the top and bottom and attached 2x2’s around the edges then screwed the side on. Yes the ribbon hides the seams. It’s attached to one side and slides in the other side.

    • @theBradleyjourney
      @theBradleyjourney ปีที่แล้ว

      @@holidaylightingcreations could I also use 5mm under layment for the outside?

    • @holidaylightingcreations
      @holidaylightingcreations  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes just make sure you seal it well with paint. If you use it for the round one make sure you can bend it. If you use it for the square gift boxes it will change the dimension’s because it’s not 1/2”.
