Great content Matti, a man can get thrive on just a few stones once he gets the basics down. To me 3. 5, 10 is perfect.

The hardest to find out for a beginner is when you are ready to take the step to the next stone. Normally if you got between 1000 and 6000 grit stones you will do quite alot of strokes on the razor.
But when you come up to 8000 and up you normally just need around 10-15 strokes to remove the previous scratches.
When you jump up to your finishing stone you might just need 5 strokes if you have made the perfect progression up to that stone.
And a note for the jnat, all of the natural stones you will have a grit that is degrading so it starts out a little rough and the more you sharpen the small the grit will get.

As always wise words from our honemaister.
There is a lot to learn when it comes to razor sharpening. Which stones and how you use them. How you grind, what technique you use, where you need to grind/hone, etc
Have a awesome day and take care.
      You rock bro.

A great talk on stones and good advice! The one thing I would add to on the progression stones/ manmade, is buy them from the same manufacturer. Just like with sandpaper there isn't an industry standard for specific grit sizes, so a 5000 from one company is different a 5000 from another. With a couple of stones it's probably not a problem, but if you have a larger progression it could make for more work progressing to the next stone. Stones are a rabbit hole for sure and just like collecting razors, it's easy to get caught up in. Have a great one Matti!

Very nice talk on stones Matti 👏 but its a endless subject 😅. sad, so many safety razor people dont take the plunge into straight razors ...it can appear confusing, when really its relatively simple 🤔.
Thank heavens for our utube channels 🙌 🙏.
