Music video by Johnny Cash performing Out Among The Stars (Lyric Video). (C) 2014 Columbia Records, a division of Sony Music Entertainment
"And his father cries, we'll never live this down" I always felt those lyrics. This album is great. Then again, Cash doesn't have a bad song.
Sad truth of todays desperate times. No one tells it better then Johnny. Great song
*than
Both Waylon’s and Haggard’s versions tell it better than Johnny did.
@@RobduhRob Agreed. This version is a little too bouncy given the seriousness of the subject matter; Waylon's more ponderous take captures the melancholy perfectly. The words just feel like they have more weight to them.
This is one of my favorite albums of his. Such a shame it was never released in his lifetime. Some of these are classics.
To sort out some confusion. This is a tribute to the thugs and criminals in the world who have run out of options and fell into a life of crime. just listen to the lyrics
"Oh, how many travelers get weary bearing both their burdens and their scars?
Don't you think they'd love to start all over and fly like eagles out among the stars?"
they didn't want to be criminals, they needed help.
what about this part :he can't find a job but lord he's found a gun..I think he's being a little ironic with all this cops and criminals thing
Johnny was dedicated to not only telling stories from the viewpoint of the downtrodden, the forgotten, the "sinners", but also dedicated to the idea that even sinners could be redeemed. I don't think by doing that, he was advocating violence, or encouraging it, but simply telling the story of how it occurs and (usually) also tells the ramifications caused by such violence.
Tamerlane thank you for understanding
maybe the law has gone too far. jail time for victimless crimes. a government too corrupt, pushing a man too far. are you awake to our current society, our police state intent on robbing away our liberties?
Emperor Penguin i always understood this song as this kid wasn’t a criminal he was just fed up with life and wanted a glorified suicide
So much truth in these lyrics. I love them.
Is that you, John Wayne ? Is this me ?
+Rick Slattery ahahahaha great move man :D
Rest in peace nathan trew...he died by police shooting...he was 17 so was i. Im 27 now n think of him all the time with this song
Ole Johnny is "Flying like Eagles among the Stars" ! Great tune !
in my opinion, the best kind of songs are the ones that have the best lyrics. not just lyrics that have good rhymes or just go along well to the music itself. it’s the lyrics that have meaning, the ones that tell a story, the ones that grab your heart and grab your attention. in my opinion, it’s not just about the beat, or the guitar strings or the way it’s all arranged. it’s about the captivating, story telling lyrics that leave an impact on you. Johnny knew this better than almost anyone else, i don’t think i’ve ever listened to a single Johnny Cash song that hasn’t had lyrics that grabbed my attention more than the guitar playing. and in my opinion this is the greatest example, and this song has aged extremely well with what’s going on nowadays. the world doesn’t care to look into the eyes of these “killers” or “psychopaths” they just write them off as crazed killers or monsters. when in reality they’re just hurt, broken, they’ve got nowhere else to go, they’ve got nothing. we need to be there for people, we need to help them and realize that these people are human and in many ways we are the reasons that they end up this way. this song really expresses that perfectly, good on you Johnny. Johnny Cash really is someone we need in in the year 2021. Rest in peace
I can't agree any more with everything you just said. ❤️
This is a great song. The production quality is pristine too.
Hi im from future
i love this song!, this is the kind of music my children are gonna listen to. not this new age crap! legends never die!!!
Legends never die but we must save room for new legends
This Is My favourite Johnny cash's Song, Is funny how i miss a singer that is death in the same year when i was born😭, regards from🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
Anche io 2003 e adoro Johnny, siamo pochi ma buoni ahah
@@Djejad ah mensavo di essere l'unico ahah
@@lorenzodiserafino5408 ahahaha
It’s all about rehabilitation, not retribution. Ole Johnny even knew that
He was one of the few who fought for that in since the 60's but no one listend... But its never to late.
There will never be another Man in Black.
I'm Soo very glad that I discovered ol jhonny cash when I was younger I love just sitting here by my self and have his songs playing it has helped me with Soo much through my life rip jhonny and June!
I'm 22. This type of music has undoubtedly faded from my generation, but I love all of Johnny Cash's works from the old to the most recent. This is personally one of my favorite songs of all time. It was recorded in the early 80s (not released until 2014), but it's every bit as relevant then as it is now. The lines "they'll be aiming at the demons in their lives" and "he dies in every living room in town" are some of the best lyrics I've ever heard, bolstered by impeccable production.
There is The Gospel in his songs.
My top song of May by far:) this man and his music has really made me who and what I am now
Old Johnny,great sound
It’s that kind of song that help us see crime in a different angle. In their eyes they saw a looser, but in reality a desperate man crying for help. Although, each story is different. Thanks Johnny Cash for speaking to our hearts if only we are willing to listen.
While I can see the message of police brutality and inevitably of crime, this song has always been about the world making your soul tired and the burdens of today to me. My personal favorite song, this song has always helped me when I feel overwhelmed or depressed. I don't know how or why this song speaks to me, but life seems manageable after I hear this.
The song is NOT about police brutality. Listen to it again maybe
@@123xyan it definitely is though, "he sees that old familiar anger in their eyes". "he knows that when their shootin' at this loser, they'll be aiming at the demons in their lives"
This song is sympathetic to the people on the fringes who turn to a life of crime, and basically says that the cops aren't much better, and still act out of anger, due to their own problems and shortcomings.
Johnny was always a friend to the down and outs, not a friend to the system that beats them down.
Maybe *you* should give it another listen. And do some research on Johnny and what he was really about.
even though this was released after his death, it's still a number one in my book
He is a great story teller.
Johnny Cash has 'Spiritual Understanding', sorry I never 'Heard' him till after he died. I 'Listen' today!
If you like J.C. try Roy Orbison.
I will give Roy Orbison a listen. This weekend, I'm wore the hell out, 15 straight days and another to go. Doing good to reply, Unlike the liberals, I work for a living.
I hear that.Only another week til the gument chek gitz hear.
Doesn't matter when you come to Johnny Cash's music, it only matters that you came, and stayed. Besides, the Man in Black can't really die. He just keeps on.
@@d.j.oswalt396 you do know that Johnny Cash was a liberal. Maybe not in name, but I'm actions. Jackass.
Johnny Cash always sung songs that were about true life and a lot of times when I was down and out and thought I was done for it I would listen to his music and make me realize that there’s always an answer to turn around and do good
This was the last album I shared with my father before his passing...
11 years since he died

one of the best songs by johnny cash 100%
Absolute Brilliance! From The Legend Mr Johnny Cash. God Bless and your Good Lady.
,just passin' through 💘
Oh, what a lovely prayer to pray a second chance to be won, that we could all be cleansed in the mourning sun, till our memories anew filled to brim the joys and sorrow of other days and under other stars, but alas we are as we are and given what we are given till our day has passed and a new book is written, when moments prides and passions pass, to be free, gentle as the winds that forever swept in freedoms, and all creation looked their unbounded treasures.
In my opinion, one of the more underrated songs from him
Amazing. I love Mr Johnny Cash
This is fabulous.
Great Johnny Cash! Super song
Thinking of everyone that’s in such bitter pain of a better life that they can’t seem to grasp, hell that was me. But here’s to the wind being being at your backside one day, that life will one day as rare as it can be change it course and see you as the “ eagle among the stars”. A prayer for all of the lost souls, the buried, the too gone from the light of day.
Amen is in your heart God loves all my his spirit of Jesus ❤❤❤
One of the best "lesser known" songs.
There so much truth in this song.
After something that just happened with my dad this week, I immediately thought of this song... this song has never been more relevant to my life. Only the roles are swapped in my case. Life can be shitty that way.
@@stangetty8166 Yeah, absolutely. Dealing with it a day at a time.
I've listened to Waylon's original version, Merle's cover and Johnny Cash's posthumous release. I firmly believe Ole Possum and Merle are the two greatest Country artusts, ever... BUT Johnny Cash owns this one.
I'm so tired. I'm 23 and my bf just left. The world has been turned upside down and theres so sense of normality. I can't hold down a job, I never finished college. I'm so tired of hurting and I just want it to go away. Thank fuck for Johnny Cash
hang in there man, you’re not alone. i know i may come off as some random comment that doesn’t care. but i and many others have felt your pain, and people will be there for you when you need it. stay strong, you got this.
Incredible.
To me, the take-home sentiment is to soar every day, in any which way, let your passion be what sets you free. Good thing there's a Martin in this room, & already in tune!
So in other words, you completely missed the point of this song.
It’s a great interpretation of the song .👍
And literally this is what “ god “ wants . It’s not stupid . Sometimes though we just become afraid and so the universe will try to save us anyhow 👍
This is great music I'm glad you make music your awesome
Grande johnnycash
This is such a great song. The entire album with this song is awesome. I guarantee that there would have been at least 2 or 3 number ones for Johnny had these songs been released before his death.
And Columbia would not have dropped him.
CashPresley32 The biggest and dumbest mistake they ever made.
bigoldinosaur I agree.
Wow! Jhonny Cash I couldn't reliable enough to your voiced and the meanings!🥰🥰😍🤩🤩😘
Magnifique merci 💖 à s en péter les oreilles

Love me some Johnny Cash! :)
Fantastic
Sad truth of todays desperate times. No one tells it better then Johnny.
Oh, God I'm so weary. Ever think what you could do if you do it over again? It might be a fools dream, but Lord we all have our short comings, what's a couple moments to indulge in them rather then all the shitstorm that is reality?
I love this song

Best song of 2014 and my favorite song by him

awesome ! ♥
Although I couldn’t get the full meaning of story but it’s a nice song.
I have heard several artists do this song. This is a very good version, but the best recording for me is by Waylon Jennings
❤
that boy is me
Which version of this song do you like best: Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, or Johnny Cash?
Mine is Merle Haggard's, and I like Waylon Jennings' the least.
Johnny Cash

Hello
Don't you think they'd (Jimmy, Chuck, Kim, Mike, Walter) to start all over?
Is it just me or does the start sound like The Coward of The County?
Who still here 😔
