    Excellent, this is really helpful. I’ve also been struggling with the reversal, but there’s some great advice here. Thanks!

      Thank you for weighing in Reflected! I'd like to be proficient enough to make it a practical maneuver in the F-4 playbook. Practice. And hopefully somebody out there with a better technique! 🤔

    Hi Kojak, at speeds of 350 KCAS for initial rudder input, the rudder limiter will prevent full use of the rudder. Reversals should be undertaken below 220 KCAS when the rudder limiter has cut out according to the F-4 USN Tactics manual (NAVAIR01-245FDB-1T Page 1-28).

      Nice! Thank you for the info Titus, I'll give it a try. Was debating if I wanted to try to get my hands on F-4 NATOPS at some point. I found an 1972 E dash 1 online a couple of years ago, and spent the next coupe of days going cover to cover!

    Hey, using the 'vertical' ! The F-4s' strength.
    Watched A LOT of other vids where the F-4 is screaming around in horizontal turning fights in full AB (look at that fuel total drop to 'zero' ) and LOL !

    Thanks for the video Kojak and I think a lot of people have been struggling with this, I had been but had accepted my average attempt until i saw your video and though I'd take your learnings and work on it some more.
    What I have found that works (and I am in no way suggesting that this is the "right way" - switch off yaw stabilization, once I pull up and get to around 300 IAS, I throttle back, full rudder, and wait till about 200 IAS before full opposite aileron. This def induces the need to ease off on the back pressure and I find myself really working the pitch to get it to move around the vertical axis

      Excellent MGA! I'll give it a go; how often have you departed controlled flight with this technique? Just wondering what kind of a ride to expect!

      @@kojakgaming3519 was thinking this morning how I didn’t comment on that (and turning off yaw stab is probably something that is going to put you into that condition) - but the answer is I’ve yet to depart. I’d like to say that I’ve been smooth on the controls but I haven’t been so maybe just luck on my part or maybe I’m not pushing it hard enough (but looking at my tac view track, and I used the highway out of INS as a good visual reference point its a fairly nice reversal - but hardly a a 4/5th gen pivot)

    AIM-9s accelerate off the rail, so the inverted Fox-2 shouldn't be a problem even on older AIM-9s, specially with some positive G on the aircraft. This is my guess...

    Thanks for the insight, I remembered that the technique was described in the briefing but moving forward with the exercises I totally forgot to take some time to try it, honestly I'm not sure if I even really understood what pratically should look like..the aircraft should rotate about its vertical axis, pivoting sideways from a nose-high to a nose-low attitude?

    • @kojakgaming3519
      @kojakgaming3519  21 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Correct - rotation about the vertical axis (yaw) is the primary aim. You'll also see rotation about the lateral axis (pitch), but proportionally less. The higher the AOA, the more pronounced the adverse yaw from aileron input.

    Not mission appropriate, but I’ve actually had quite a bit of success with a Fox-1 solution coming over the top with a prolonged vertical to build separation. The E-2’s don’t really have the legs for BVR, but they’re pretty great for a high/front aspect shot during a fight if you have a little distance to play with.

    Does this work well outside of the campaign as well? As I understand it the campaign pins the slats in the F-4E to make it feel more like a B/N

      @kojakgaming3519  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @thesimnet, I haven't tried yet - but I CAN tell you I want to see what your F-4 simpit looks like when you put it together! And yes, @ReflectedSimulations scripted the slats "welded" down.
      Thank you for checking out the channel!
      And like you, the F-4 is my favorite jet of all time.

    So at least from my understanding, launching a Sidewinder B inverted is possible, as long as the combined forces still don’t exceed that magic 2G number

    Hi, Kojak, what was your speed at the pull and reversal?

    • @kojakgaming3519
      @kojakgaming3519  21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi! I was at 411 KCAS at the pull up, 350 KCAS for the initial rudder input, and 232 KCAS with my max aileron input (I did not fully deflect the ailerons). Lowest speed with aileron deflection after coming over the top was 186 KCAS and 284 KCAS at the bottom. First seeker tone was 300 KCAS, second seeker tone was 320 KCAS. Third seeker tone was at 420 KCAS and the shot was at 446 KCAS.
      During the climb and reversal, I didn't crosscheck my airspeed indicator, just relied on the AOA audible cues for a best guess at how much I was pushing toward a stall.
