Willie, I've been watching your videos for 6 months. Just learned about LibreNMS yesterday, and of course you have a video. Great overview, and downloading now. hahaha
Personally use PRTG. It's free up to a point then you pay for number of nodes. I just pass the cost on to the customer. I will be sure to check this out and see how it compares.
I have had a LibreNMS box running for about a year now, but this inspired me to finish setting it up. I have a couple dozen Cisco 2960x48p POE switches, my Freenas storage, some Linux servers, two ubiquiti Nanobeab 5AC-19 radios, and a few other things. I have not added any of my vmware hosts or windows servers yet though. So far it is pretty good for free I have to say. One thing I wish I could see on the switches was the POE status on ports does not seem to be there.
ummm whatever was on the downloaded VMDK I guess. I found the line to add to config.php to add poe polling, I will see if they start filling in or not.
Hello, I just installed Librenms on Ubuntu 16.04 and nagios plugins too. I was looking foward to monitor windows dhcp service and sql servers 2014 express (check if sql service is up/down) and its databases. I'm concerned that Windows Sql servers dont support snmp anymore. I saw on the net that there are plenty of extra nagios plugins that are capable of monitoring these. My question is, can I add these plugins and if yes, how ? Can you please give instructions ? I really appreciate your help. Thanks
I had trouble with the OVA being set to a locale of GB. Had a hard time changing all of the repositories and key mapping. I do like the project though. I need to dig in deeper.
Good Day Willie, Can this tools be used to backup cisco configurations? and also create a repository where no old backup are not overwritten but added as new each time?
Great Video, I setup LibreNMS after seen this and I would like to setup an alert or notification when a firewall cpu hits 80%. Is this something I can do in LibreNMS?
Interesting, as Libre is a fork of an old version of Observium, menu structure is very similar, if not the same. Alerting implementation is done better in Observium imho
Hi Willie, I have watch most of your videos, big fan, I am trying to install LibreNMS as a VM in UnRaid and I can't get it working, I have tried everything I can think of, can you make a video about installing LibreNMS from scratch? Thanks
Was this just supposed to be a preview of LibreNMS? Just wanted to know if you have any learning tutorials such as usage and configuration of LibreNMS. Showing how to use it in a real world type situation? Not installation I already know how to do that. Thanks.....
Willie Howe I have Cacti in my company, please give an example how LibreNMS is better monitoring than Cacti. I ever have used LibreNMS, but it looks better than cacti, the other feature important from LibreNMS I saw is Discovery
Yeah I abandoned cacti for nagios years ago, then I found librenms the other month. Which I find weird cos it's the best and does nothing for ppl to find it easily.
Hello, is it possible to scan Windows hosts like Windows 7 or Windows Server 2012 with LibreNMS ? Please give me an answer as soon as possible ! I really need to know ! Thank you
Sure there is a lot of over lapping, they kinda are the same product. Spiceworks also does inventory and many other features BUT there community spams the heck out o u :)
Great overview, It's been awhile since you posted this so I'm hoping you can help me with a couple of questions. I have two bare-metal servers. Both are running SolusVM. One is master (OpenVZ) the other is slave (KVM) and I'm also running and looking at Webmin/Cloudmin/Virtualmin that are running on both the primary IP's and within some of my containers. Do you know if this would interfere with this setup? Also, Do you install this on one server and then link it to your other servers and VPS containers or do you need to install this in every instance you want to monitor? At this point I'm using all of this for hands-on learning and troubleshooting in preparation for commercial purposes. Your help would be seriously appreciated! Thanks!! -- Keepin it fresh
Some deep dives on this would be awesome.

Can you create a video on how to setup from VM?

I have this along with Observium. Both are great projects to use.

Seems like there is a lot of functional overlap with spiceworks. Anyone know how they compare?
