Great Video. The details of the clips is super helpful! Many you tubers just skip over the details like this, but the clips can be a problem to get out if you don't know what to press or not press. This helped me keep from breaking the clips. Thanks for the video.
Hi Paul thanks for this very helpful video. My car was in at V.W. for a new loom and has had a rattle from the top trim since I got it back. VW have told me that you don't remove the top trim which is obviously not true, so no doubt they have broken something! Thank again from the U.K.
Thanks for the info. I plan on getting a 2017 Passat and one of the first things I plan on doing is installing 4 speakers that are more efficent than than the crappy stock units.
Very helpful, thanks for posting this. If you work on a Tiguan please post that as well, I have a 2018 Passat and my wife just got the 2018 Tiguan..both are getting speaker upgrades so it would be nice to see what I'm working against. Thanks again!
fairly new cars to be replacing speakers?? you have to be careful , because some cars have factory amplifiers, and will not match up with aftermarket speaker upgrades. also most vw's vehicles rivet there speakers in place, and are alittle bit of a pain to remove.
I've been installing stereos in my cars for 20 years, it's about upgrading the sound. I finished the stereo upgrade on my Passat the first week I owned it, it's stealth and sounds amazing. Yes the door speakers are riveted in, you have a couple extra steps with these cars but it's not a big deal and worth the effort. This is my beater commuter car as I wanted something comfortable and good on gas, quiet cabin and capable factory radio.
Great video for taking it apart! What about putting it back together? Haha I got my car back from the dealer and there is a gap between the panel and metal door. Do I just hit it in place or do I need to remove the door and reseat it?
Raul Romo oh I see what you mean. I looked at the 2016 Passat video and you showed that issue there. Thanks for your advice and for making these videos!
Hi. I am trying to stall a ligth for door . I judt want to know witch cables are for door sensor ? So i need to know the sensor to the light off when i close the door . Please let me know . My CAR IS VW ATLAS 2018 .
keystr0ke i am sure most can figure out the size. I do these videos as i am working on them for customers, so I don’t always have time to always give sizes. But most European vehicles use T-30 or T-25 most of the time.
@@raiderman28 B7 on the video is made up to 2015. From 2014 VW started with brand new platform B8 which is already MBQ new generation. It seems that this is US version, than maybe this is ok, but is not B8. US goes last with new models. My apologies, this indeed can be b7 model year 2017
This is NOT a 2017 Passat. It is a Passat B7. A Passat from 2017 is a Passat B8 (mine is from 2017). You even have a second video where you say 2012-2016 Passat.
marcel151 i have 2 different videos, different cars. I work on alot of passats. If i say this is a 2017 passat its a 2017 passat. We are in the states. Some European models might be alittle different. But this is definitely a 2017 passat buddy!!! I dont know what B7 and B 8. We dont label our vehicles that way Just like the BMW’s some car them other models that we dont use out here, only in germany
The US does not have the b8 model yet. That is Europe only. A US b7 passat ranges from 2012-2020. Europe is ahead with one model. I have a b7 passat that is a 2017 R-Line.
romikcz1 yes it is. We are in the United States. Thats what they are called here!! We don’t call them B8. Thats a European thing. Just like the BMW’s and Mercedes, in Europe they call them by numbers... which gets very confusing for us. I tint windows for a living, and i have to write down the year make and model of each vehicle, i am 100% sure its a 2017 passat. I do these all day long. But thanks for the :-)

Thanks. Replacing front speakers this weekend. Would not have been able to do it without this video. Nice camera work and good commentary
Thank you

You are correct !!!
Thanks for this video! Just helped my wife and I change out our passenger side mirror!
Great video. Great to see someone work on a passat. Not many videos of them out there. Great work boss. Very detailed. 👍🏻

Great video! Best out there! Clear and concise instructions that were more than helpful. Appreciate it!
Thanks for this video and the perks associated with panel removal. Definitely made it easy.
Most informative video yet
Awesome video, thanks! This will come in handy this weekend with my Passat.
Great instructions, help me replace my passenger mirror
Mark Tillman glad it helped 👍

CaptainBackFat usually if you replace the speakers you will lose about half your bass.
@@raiderman28 Really? Even if I move to a super efficient 6.5" and lay down some Dynamat to seal up the door cavities?
worked for me. getting back on was a PITA as always. took off in about 5 min, replacing took about 20.
.
if you don't remove the door rubber channel piece from the door, then you will struggle to get it back on. Thats the key !!!!
Absolutely brilliant mate, thank you
Thank you !!!
Thank you for making this video! Very great quality! Good work
Great Video! Any idea what screw or how I could get the mirror off for this same model?

Thank you, great video.I think I can do this now without breaking anything.
You can do it, just work slowly
Thanks for the excellent video.

SnowBob302 maybe one of the clips came off the panel. You will have to remove it completely to see. Thats what i would do

Do i need to go through that whole process to replace my speakers.
Gordon Young yes
Does this 2017 Passat have a factory alarm ??
If it has a LED light on the drivers door, then it has a factory alarm or keyless system in it
Awesome!!! Thanks
I'm just curious if you'd know the part number for those bolts in the lower panel
Sorry i do not

yanny's Martinez sorry I Don’t know. You need to use a test light to check it and find your power source
Does this count for the RLine trim too?
If it looks similar than yes.
Hi, could you show how to remove the door panel of a 2018 Tiguan? This is great info, BTW!
Israel Peralta have not worked on one of those vehicles
i worked on a Tiguan awhile back, but didnt have to remove the panels. (had enough room to tint them)
What size torx is needed? (edit: It was a T30)

Good deal!
2017 passat front right door is fit to 2016 passat
both door are same
2017? This is B7 so max 2015! In the year 2017 thre were only B8 but that's not this case
It said 2017 on the vin# tag.
I don’t know what to tell you.
