Harbor freight usually has a set of plastic pry tools you can purchase. if you don't want to buy them, just put black tape on you thin screwdriver to use as a pry tool
@@paxman76100 Good. I think after 25 years of car stereo hobby, industrial work, and me installing a Rockford RFD1 DSP I just don't have the ear to tune it all myself. The install technique is solid with decent speakers and amp. I just cannot get the audio tuned to the wife's liking. I think we're going to unload this car for the wife to get another Rover so I'm not going to pay a shop to tune it. The panel removal and install went well. I did recently score a free Oscilloscope so my next build will have each component checked for clipping on the scope to determine the limits to ensure i have clean signal from head unit through to the amp.

This will be a bit difficult. You will have to remove the front seats through the opposite door that does open to have room to remove the door panel. If its a rear door, you might get away with just removing the lower part of the seat. Once you do that, try to remove the door panel. If you can manage to remove the door panel, then you can look to see what the issue is. Could be a broken clip that opens the door and the rod has come off. But not till you get all that out, can you see what the issue is. I have done this before, and let me tell you .. its no fun. Sometimes the door panel will get damaged, because usually the door has to be opened in order to properly remove it. Good luck

I believe it does need speaker adapters Go to www.metraonline.com Type in your information and look to see if it shows that it needs speaker adapters for your model.

Great video! Do you by chance have any advice on how to take off the plastic covers that are on the b pillar outside the door? My covers are all cracked and damaged fr the sun and I want to take them off to be able to wrap them but I'm not sure how to get them off. Do I have to take off the entire door panel or will just taking off the window seals be enough? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Thanks for making the job easy. Need to switch some pins on the passenger side, speakers on that side are all wired out of phase. Not too big a job, getting the door off is half the work.
Wreckster if they are out if phase, then go online and find out the color codes and find the wires before they go into the door and cut and flip them, instead of removing all that
That was the first plan, I was going to flip them at the amp connector. That connector is wired so tight it really is easier just to pop the doors off.
Just a note re door panel/card clips if you do break/damage them (hopefully not all six!) - I broke one on my 2009 Passat CC! The clips are part number VW-6Q0868243 - readily available from your VW dealer for a dollar or two each, or online. I also unfortunately broke one of the plastic clip mounts - repaired it perfectly with JB Weld Plastic two-part epoxy!!! Also, get yourself the three HD black plastic VW door trim removal wedges (mine arrived too late!) - they are great, and meant for the job: "Door Trim Car Trim Wedge Panel Clip Tools For VW Equiv T10383 T10383/1 T10383/2". Remove the door panel from the bottom up. I had to take the door panel/card off and then the assembly carrier behind that off to access the inside of the door to replace the electromechanical lock. I installed a new electromechanical lock (replaced part 26A-5N2 837 016A with part 26A-5N2 837 016C, the part was gradually modified from A --> C, still fits perfectly though).
Any suggestions on how to get my window to go up and down on the rear right door? I hear the motor working but the glass stays put, I feel like the glass might be off the rail or something on my 15 Passat Wolfsburg but i'm not too sure. Any suggestions or videos on how to realign the glass and put it back on the rails?
Ganesh Sankar i dont work on glass but i do know how they work. The cable for the regulator might be broken. You probably have to replace the whole window regulator. Very common
my 2013 drivers door handle on the inside was hit and miss to work to open and now it won't open at all and the door won't close to latch?? got any ideas?
E Kortness sounds like your latch assembly on the door is no good. Those are not fun to replace. I have done a few on the accords, never a jetta. Sorry i cant be more helpful

antione wiley i didn’t work on any of the tweeters on this car. I don’t think the front door have tweeters. If they are on the pillars, you have to unbolt that handle if it’s there and take pillar out and unclip tweeter. On back doors if tweeter is on the door, you have to remove panel and unclip tweeter from panel Most aftermarket tweeters do not mounts like factory tweeters, might have to hot glue them in there, just make sure they are not too big.

I've a 2015 vw passat wolfsburg edition. The lights at the bottom of the door, I'm not able to find its electrical connection. I found a exact fit for ghost light but if doesn't have any electrical outlet I'm not how it should be done.

I am not sure if it is broken or maybe just disconnected. I wondering how easy it is and how to remove it and replace it if the switch is broken if need be. Gloria Robbins I don’t make specific videos to repair issues like yours. I don’t really repair many switches in my shop. But, you might have a bad master switch. This. Video should guide you on how to remove the switch
Thanks for the video; issue I am running into is that the brackets that hold the door clips break on me when I am removing the door panel...without having to buy a replacement door panel ($100+), can you offer any tips as to how to avoid snapping that thin plastic that holds those door clips in place on the back-side of the panel?
I have a full panel removal tool kit and those little brackets still break on me. I'm trying to add some deadening material to the doors as the road noise peaks over 90dB and after 5 years of driving it, I can't handle it anymore. ;)

You only take the light off the rear doors( because there is a bolt torx/10mm bolt that needs to be turned about a quarter turn. On the front doors there is nothing behind the lens if you take it off
thanks - I have a 2013 B7 Passat and the there is a rattle form the rear door panel. I think that all the clips are not fastened. Are there any differences between your video and the b7?
Did any of the clips come off the panel? Make sure if this happened, you take them off the door with a door panel remover , so you don’t break them. Also make sure the clip are not snapped closed. Usually when you pop off the panel, they with pop in the open position. If they are not open, they will not go back in the holes.

Boštjan Ocvirk I think I ran into one of those, I believe that’s a different year. I think I even have a video on my channel that shows that those are more difficult and yes the trim does not come off I don’t remember exactly what year off the top of my head it was
They are usually 6 1/2”, you will probably need some sort of speaker adapter, because the speakers usually pop out. Some people cut out the factory speaker and use the the same basket to mount the speaker to. This way you don’t have to buy an adapter

How to take the rear door panel off when door won’t open from inside or outside

Those doors are fairly sealed, dynomat might be a waste of money. Maybe just dyno behind the actual speaker and around the speaker a bit.

My door had froze because of the cold whether but once I wanted to exist the car I pulled on the handle in the inside and lost the resistance.

Door panel removal should be the same. When you get panel off, if tweeters are mounted on panel, you might have to disconnect them

This was helpful but incase u didn’t know there’s an opening under the handle so u won’t damage the interior when wedging the flathead.

Most aftermarket tweeters do not mounts like factory tweeters, might have to hot glue them in there, just make sure they are not too big.

Saket Pofali take it to a stereo shop, they usually wire it to the door switch.

Coach Fagan sorry. I have not replaced many regulators over the years. Usually i have seen a U type clip most of the time.

This are us passat door panels, if you do this on Europe passat you will brake the plastic trim because it is bolted and has a light under it!

Sometimes the clips break but i have never had the actual back part break, unless its an older car.
Raul Romo I had some of the backs brake...they still hold the clips, but I’m concerned it won’t be enough. What should I do?
