I bought this about a month ago paying full price at 139 gbp. I read over the specs and could not personally justify spending more money for features I did not care about. I have only ever encountered 1Gb/s speeds at my uni and was blown away by it. When I'm not at accom, I live in rural England where the best option for internet was Three 4G home broadband and I consider myself lucky to have 80Mb/s because we happen to live near a 4G tower.

Those USB 2.0 connections are gold for me! I use older hardware for flight simulation and many of those devices oddly simply don't work on USB 3.2. Nowadays it is even harder to find PCIe expansion cards with USB 2.0, they all come with USB 3.2, so, this will probably be my next mainboard.

I've spent weeks trying to troubleshoot this motherboards inbuilt WiFi card, the Realtek 8852CE and it has been a nightmare that is not worth the budget cost. I've tried things from alternative network adaptors, reinstallations of drivers, modifications of settings and I still haven't figured it out. For those considering this, just be aware of this as it apparently has occurred to others (some fixed, some not) and is most definitely not worth the price savings for the headache.

One thing I noticed: that fan header next to the USB3 front-panel connector says "SYS_FAN3_PUMP" so I'd guess the missing pump connector for an AIO that would usually be near the CPU fan connector is placed there in this board?

Unusual choices on this motherboard. So many usb 2s on IO, plus 3x usb 2 ports on mb begs question why! Qflash button hidden on mb is odd too. 3x m.2s is great but has this impacted the pcie lanes as x1 not much use? Better pcie 4 surely so gives more usability to extra slots on mb! Must be better Gigabyte options at similar price. Thanks Mike and Kath 🐈👍

This mobo is decent , it seems similar as the Gaming Eagle AX Version , which has decent VRMS with multiple power stages, which was tested on @Hardwareunboxed channel Which in his words "says were decent" , I'd personally prefer an msi board , or asus board just because of the design , however it depends on where you live the price and also warranty , however i think this is still a solid option tbh.

At first I was thinking this could be a good discount AI training board, since it has so many x16 PCIe slots. A person could possibly put a bunch of RTX A2000Es or A4000s. But when he said the additional slots ran at x1, I became confused about the purpose. At those speeds you can't even use a RTX A2000E, which requires x8 bandwidth.

I've built PC's from the back end of 286 days using various makes of M/B's from cheapo PCChips one to high end Soyo at the time. Over the years been through the main brands but will never buy another Gigabyte one , had a few issues and lousy customer support. Had long usage of an Asus one for my Phenom11 ( still running now and support was good ) , both main PC's are running Ryzen ( 5200 and 5600X ) both of these are on MSI ATX boards , no problems and solid over the years. Was looking at AM5 and 9600X (despite unfavourable reviews ) but not sure it's worth it as I don't see much point against the 5600X i have. I don't game or video creation just standard everyday computing plus some graphic design work. Might get the bug and go for it , not sure yet but would be tempted for the ASROCK B650M Pro RS/WiFi after your and other reviews if I do. I know Asrock used to be a not so good a choice a way back but seem to have got their act together.
Anyway , great channel Mike and value your opinions , gradually going through your past reviews. Regards.

Thank you for the review. Great video, to bad I didn't saw it earlier... I have the B650 eagle ax since Oct 15 2024... All was well. Until the day (Oct. 26) I connected the External HDD's... When I boot the computer, it takes up to 4 minutes before the welcome screen opens. This problem is a pain in the a.. The computer first read the USB ports (with the ext. hdd's) and in total that's 15TB to read. And after searching for solutions, and tried them without luck (I even asked the Gigabyte support, but they didn't answered my cry of help) I'm out of options....
I've disconnected the USB hub cable with the HDD's and the boot takes 30/40 seconds. I went into the BIOS, tried some offered solutions, but unfortunately the problem stays.

I personally, for this mobo, see the Gen 5 NVME removed for Gen 4 and boost a couple rear usb to 3.0 from 2.0 and change one of the PCI-E x1 slots to x4 and agree drop the price about £20/$35AUD for it to be competitive. In addition drop the old school mouse/keyboard port 😝🤣👍.
The rest of the feature seem good enough for most users and as mentioned, in this budget range buyers aren’t going utilise a Gen 5 NVME and would use more budget NVME drives for mass storage and 3 is vg for this mobo!

I can't justify throwing $50 more for a Wi-Fi adapter pre-installed on the motherboard when you can install it. I bought the one with no WiIfi adapter and bought another one and put it on it. You can buy this (GIGABYTE B650 EAGLE AX - GB-B650-EAGLE-AX) without an adapter, buy one, and put it on it. It's highly unreasonable!

2 x PCI Express x16 slots (PCIEX1_1/PCIEX1_2), integrated in the CPU, supporting PCIe 3.0 and running at x1
    * The PCIEX1_1 and PCIEX1_2 slots become unavailable when an AMD Ryzen 8000 Series-Phoenix 2 processor is used.
