It feels so stupid to lose a man like Jeff Beck to bacterial meningitis. His dedication to the guitar will inspire me to the end of my days. He always pushed himself and never fell into being lazy and resting on his laurels. He was something very special. This is an outstanding interview, I really enjoyed it!

Jeff Beck has always been God to me. I have played lead guitar in bands for 40 yrs and picked up some of the things he used to do.
However, he is a magician that no one can emulate. So original and iconic. He rips that guitar from pure beauty to violent sounds that no one can seem to achieve. The day I heard of his untimely departure shattered me to the core.

This was a fabulously laid back interview❤ He was so humble and nice guy. I watched an interview with Eric Clapton. He was still recovering from COVID and went to see Jeff in the hospital. He had no idea how sick he was until he walked in and saw all the tubes. When he left he got very emotiona,l When he died he went thru depression. He said Jeff Beck WAS the greatest guitarist in history. The day of his funeral he told Jeffs wife that some of the quitar legends just got together and was going to do a tribute to Jeff at Albert Hall in London. She told him that would be absolutely wonderful. R.I.P Jeff Beck. We were so blessed to have both you and your talent.❤❤

He was always destined to be a wonderful guitarist but his humility and generosity to his fellow musicians is second to none. As George Harrison once Said: “He is the music. You can see when he enters the room. He doesn’t need a guitar.”
But when he took one on it was just beyond.

In the annals of post WWII music Jeff Beck will sit atop the Pantheon of great musicians/guitarists having truly mastered his craft. I think of the likes of Oscar Peterson, Miles, Trane, Parker, Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery, John McLaughlin, The Beatles, Jimi to name a few and yes, Jeff will be on that special list too. One must realize he gave us nearly 60 years of pushing the envelope with his guitar. 60 years not wasted on resting on his laurels. 60 years of great music. And I'm fortunate to have lived through all of that, to bear witness, to have so enjoyed seeing him perform a few times live and up close. Thanks for that, Jeff, rip.

A turning point in my life was the first time I heard Blue Wind. I was 16 and rather one-dimensional when it came to music. I was at a concert waiting for a band to come on stage. In the meantime, they were playing a new record through the stacks. I asked a friend what that incredible song was. It was the aforementioned Blue Wind. It blew my mind and opened up new horizons into jazz for me. Soon afterward I was listening to everything from Frank Zappa and Chick Corea, to Bill Evans and Miles Davis. For that, I will be forever grateful to Jeff Beck. Oh, the band finally did come on stage. Led Zeppelin.

I play guitar for over 40 years now, and growing up in the 80s hard rock frenzy, never "got" Beck. But I did catch up later. What a player. THE guitar player, to me, for rock.

It starts with desire. Then you must have the dedication and devotion. He had it all. I must’ve seen him eight or nine times in my life here in the states Every time was better than the last. I saw him two nights in a row in 2022 at the Royal Albert Hall at the end of May and the beginning of June. And then he dies in 2023 on Rod Stewart’s birthday. Yeah I fucking cried. One of a kind.

Despite its massive overuse, their really is only one word to encapsulate the talent, and creativity of Jeff Beck. And that word is genius.

His is the only version of Little Wing I've heard that touches Jimi's. He nails the feeling and the sound of the song, and I've never heard that done by others. Then he talks about how he never got over his lack of confidence, how he always has to reassure himself of his worth. Dude, amazing. Just amazing.

YMMV, @mattgwardesq, after all, it's music!
To me, SRV added flashes & flourishes that are more of the head than the heart. Jimi was singing about his love, and there's a purity and tenderness there that I don't hear in most of his other music. No doubt that SRV is great, but to me he's flashier and Jimi got straight to it.
