Nice demo, love the no talking aproach. Do this amp has enough power/headroom for medium gigs? or will it start to fart?

Thanks for watching. This is the loudest 30 watt amp I’ve ever played through. Plenty of headroom 👍👍👍

Big cab = plenty of loudness. Small cab = recording and bedroom loudness.

I tried the OR30, and it's crushingly loud. Probably louder than a JTM45, or even Vox AC30, which both either flub out or are missing good bass. It's well up there with a Sovtek Mig50. The Sovtek could probably go louder while stay squeeky clean or as a pedal platform. But, that's not what you are buying an Orange for primarily. It has a nice warm clean tone, like a less blown out JTM, but it's the driven tones that are special. Bring the gain in, without the bass rolled off, and the Orange will crush a JTM45 or Mig 50. I'd partner it with a good big cab with maybe 12", probably a 2x12" closed back like the Orange PPC212, because it has great bass depth. Would probably go head to head with a 50W Plexi or Fender Twin too, though the Orange is more of a crushed, smooth, bass rich rhythm tone, versus a Plexi's searing, piercing lead tones or a Twin's paint peeling cleans. A rhythmn guitarist on OR30 and lead guitarist on Plexi would mesh really well. Marcus King uses two OR30s with custom slanted 8x10" cabs, alongside a Fender Bass stack to play blisteringly loud at large venues (two OR30s won't be that much louder than one, maybe 25-33% ballpark - it's the cabs that count). The OR15 is the one that isn't really quite enough power for medium gigs.

@compucorder64 I have a gig this weekend, and was tempted to debut the OR30, but I’m concerned how devastatingly loud the thing will be 🤣
I’ll love it, not sure about the sound engineer though 🤣

How does this sound in 2 watt mode? I’ve been using a Brent Hinds Terror forever and it’s Bedroom/Headroom switch is like magic, because it really doesn’t change the amps sound at all. It doesn’t make it dark or muddy or overly compressed like most low power modes on other brands. How is it on the OR30?

It still sounds absolutely wonderful! Exactly as you describe 👍 Thanks for watching.

@@DannyBeardsley That's really good to know. I'm seriously thinking of getting an OR15. Saw a good deal on a refurb one for 500eur. It's for a studio, so I don't need a ton of volume. Actually, quieter / more dirty at lower volume is better. Don't think the OR15 does a 2w mode, just 15 or 7.

@compucorder64 Thanks for watching. The OR15 is a great amp. 👍

Can we get the dry tones, without shimmery FX glittering on top?

I will factor this into a future video. Apologies, I just prefer a little ambience when playing. I hope the overall tones are to your taste. Thanks for watching.

was the delay in the loop?@@DannyBeardsley

Yes, a TC Electronic Flashback. An excellent FX loop on this amp, tube buffered.

@@DannyBeardsley I own an OR30, which is in for repair for the third time now. Including an exchange for a new model at one point. While this repeated need of repair is unspeakably frustrating, my experience with it is how amazing it sounds without any pedals. It has an incredibly warm, pure tone, and it’s pretty amazing how it interacts with TS and HM-2w pedals in front of the amp. Just the clean sound alone, and the way it gets fuzzy and sustains when going for doom or black metal alike. Also djents just right. Combined mine with a Marshall 1960BX cab lately, and the Greenbacks make the OR30 sound better every time I get to use an OR30 which isn’t currently broken. And on top of that, if you love a sound but think it sounds a tad raspy, patching the FX loop back into itself - without any pedals involved - will make things sound so incredibly smooth and warm. Even reacts differently to TS9 and OD-9, in very nice ways. I’m in love, hope the nightmare of having to send it in for repair will be over soon. So I can just play and fully enjoy how it shapes everything I do. The EQ needs some serious learning tho, but then the tone keeps making me happy to no end. Those saggy dynamics alone and the range of sound, from clean with plenty headroom to squashy overdrive with plenty of definition… Man, what a beautiful amp.

Really sorry to hear about the faults and frustrations. I really hope you get to the bottom of the problems.
      What is the problem exactly?
I have to agree that the amp sounds fantastic without the use of any pedals at all. I also notice that recording is very pleasing as well, less tonal tweaks in post. Great tone from the start.
My challenge to work on at the moment is developing my use of the guitar volume control, to create those clean tones. I historically use the Rockerverb mark 3. I’ve always used a foot switch between channels to achieve clean and dirty tones. This is effective, but I’m preferring the single channel approach atm. Amazing amp!
Thanks for watching and all the best with your amp. 🙏
