@@Zanador There's an optimized video that I posted a week after this one that has a few changes for more potency. The percentage difference is about a 1-2% loss from the standard rotation, but it's extremely close. Considering how much flexibility this rotation has for the trade-off, the damage is ridiculous. I've been hitting higher DPS numbers with this rotation lately than the standard.
About 50% potency loss. You're alternating between two fires, transpose x2, and two ice . Normal fire rotation is just pure fire + 2x ice and no transpose. Maybe 12.5x fire and two ice. 12.5 x fire doing 30k will beat Paradox x2. Fire 4 is equivalent to paradox in dmg. Don't listen to that guy he is lying to you.
@@zlonewolf That's not even remotely true, and your math is incorrect. It's nowhere near a 50% loss. Give it a try yourself and compare the numbers. It's not remotely as bad as you're making it sound. It wouldn't be able to come close to clearing content (let alone the training dummy in the video with that much time remaining) if it was a 50% loss from standard Fire IV rotation. Lol I'm not arguing that standard rotation isn't better whatsoever, but it's about a 10% difference at worst with bad crit/dh variance. Not 50%. The potency per second you're gaining back by casting primarily Paradox and Despair is making up the majority of the difference that you're believing is lost by skipping those Fire IVs. Its speeding up the rotation and making Despair and Paradox our most hit actions, which Despair is our best potency per second cast as it gains Astral Fire buffs and doesnt drift beyond the gcd recast timer now that its instant. And because all the casts being used ARE instant, you're gaining more casts overall since you're not spending extra gcd time hard casting Fire IV- which can require almost half a second more cast time than your recast timer per cast with slower spell speeds.
I think you might be able to use a Fire 4 as a filler for Triplecast too. You'd transpose into ice after Despair, Paradox (+2500 MP, weave triplecast), Blizzard 3 (+5000 MP, weave transpose), Paradox, Fire 3 Proc, Fire 4, Despair (weave transpose), Blizzard 3. With Triplecast's 15s duration, should be able to fit the 5 GCD and start that last instacast Blizzard 3 before it runs out, squeezes out an extra 256 potency before maim and mend+Enochian!
@@SniperYanda The only problem with using Fire IV is that it uses Umbral Hearts. This rotation keeps your Hearts permanently at 3 as to keep Fire Paradox renewing after each Ice phase, without having to cast Blizzard IV. The extra Triplecast charges can be spent on Blizzard IV as a filler though without hurting the rotation.
@@asatowolfe Ah, I forgot about that. In that case, it might be better to drop the Blizzard IV entirely and let the third triplecast fall off, since your average dps actually goes down including B4 in the cycle, thanks to the extra 2.5s it adds for 320 potency, while the average for the other 5 GCDs is 480 potency.
@@SniperYanda I considered that as well; and in many variations of the rotation during testing I skipped the final Triplecast charge, but you need the instant cast fillers to make sure your Swiftcast and other Triplecast have more time to recharge. If you skip the filler Blizzard IV during your Triplecasts, you eventually reach a point where Swiftcast/Triplecast won't be available when going into Ice Phase and will require you to begin casting again. The Blizzard IV is purely a filler action though. It does more damage than Blizzard III, so it's better than just doing Blizzard III twice. Wish it was possible to skip it since it's not necessary other than having the extra GCD.

@@waxLyrical-nj9yq I would have to set a timer and test it on a dummy outside of SSS for an exact answer on that, but it continues on for a while with a slow sps build. I've used it in raids, but I have mostly alternated between the standard rotation and this one when the movement is needed, and I can say that it has plenty of sustainibility that way. Even if you went fully into this rotation, if a time came where you know your Swiftcast or Triplecast is a few GCDs away (and your Xenoglossy/Thunders are gone), taking time to perform at least one standard Fire phase where you stand and cast will give your cooldowns time to realign for another 2+ minutes of instant casts. Since the Triplecast covers two different Blizzard III, that's 2 Ice/Fire phases worth of time that your next Triplecast and Swiftcast are cooling down. The Swiftcast will return first and would extend the rotation long enough for the next Triplecast to become available. Xenoglossy and Thunders generated also serve to fill time for your Swift/Triplecast to return again. You do have to plan ahead to keep it going beyond 3 minutes, though. Using Swiftcast as soon as you're able (a few GCDs before the Blizzard III) is important for keeping things lined up beyond the 3 minute mark. Triplecast is always charging, but Swiftcast can actually drift and will cause it to lose sustainibility.
@@waxLyrical-nj9yq So, I did a few pulls of EX3 with the rotation. Around the end of Absolute Authority (cheese strat, stacking together), I was forced to hard cast for a single Fire phase before resuming the instant cast only rotation. This could have been due to mistakes on my part as I allowed Swiftcast to drift slightly while trying to keep Thunder uptime. It's easy to realign with it, though. @@cardyx2879 I've been using it a lot for movement in EX3. I also tried committing to it fully in a few M1 and M4 runs (normal, not Savage). The damage is very consistent, and it surprisingly didn't drift to a point where it eventually dropped like I expected it to later in. It requires you to use your Swiftcasts about 3-4 GCDs before using it, though. I usually weave it off the Fire Paradox to be safe, but you can late weave it off Ice Paradox alongside Transpose if finishing the ice phase with it, especially when under Ley Lines. I plan to upload some footage of it used in practice when I have some time. Both full instant cast, and some half and half pulls. I just like how it can turn a single Swiftcast into several GCDs worth of movement. There are only a few cases where you'd need that much movement, but since it isn't a massive DPS loss and much safer, I 100% prefer using this as a filler for movement.

My highest DPS wasn't on this particular pull. I also do not have max gear and did not use pots this pull. There are also a few optimizations that can deal more damage overall. I have some of the details for that in the description. My highest was 28269 DPS after several runs using the SSS Calculator. Numbers can be a bit higher on the dummy than what they'd be in a normal encounter, though. The good thing is it can still be used to compare clear times with the standard rotation. Although it is lower DPS than the standard rotation and takes longer to deplete the dummy's health bar, it's not by nearly as much time as I thought it would when coming up with it. It's about 12-20 seconds slower overall, taking crit/dh variance into account. It's definitely still a viable option, though. It can clear the dummy with about 25-30 seconds remaining pretty consistently. And I'm sure someone with max gear and pots could clear it even faster than my personal best.
@@Yee-Haw_Bird It works almost exclusively with slower spell speeds. With the changes in Dawntrial, Crit Build is more viable than ever anyway, even in the standard rotation. You don't really have any risk of dropping Astral Fire anymore due to the guaranteed procs and instant casts. And no, not yet. I came up with this a couple of days ago. It's relatively new.
What item level is your black mage at here? And how many tries did it take you to put together a rotation that clears the training dummy? Regardless, I find it very impressive that this not only works, but works to a degree that you can clear the current savage tier training dummy with it.
@@enlongjones2394 Item level is 725. Crit build, currently geared with all but the Augmented Headpiece and Raid Weapon (currently equipped with Skyruin 710 weapon). No pots were used either. It could easily break 30,000 DPS with resources. It surprisingly only took me about 30 minutes. I woke up the other morning and just wanted to give the old Paradox rotation from 6.0 a try since Despair is instant cast now, and I was surprised how fluidly it works. The Fire III proc being guaranteed after every Fire Paradox means Transpose works every phase swap, and Swiftcast being at 40 seconds now makes everything flow together so smoothly. You regain resources almost as quickly as you use them. What's good about it is that you can switch between standard rotation and this literally whenever you need to. Just have Swiftcast up and use Despair > Transpose > Swiftcasted Blizzard III. It'll give you enough MP to get the rotation started and give you about 7 GCDs or more worth of free movement.
@redbloodreaver4935 It's possible. The extra Leylines and changes to Despair save a lot of time and provide extra GCDs that normally wouldn't exist when doing the standard rotation; and with Flare Star being the only action needing Swift/Triplecast in standard rotation now, you're saving several seconds worth cast bars that were usually present in the Slow SpS/Crit Build. Overall, it doen't feel like the M4S training dummy is being cleared significantly faster or anything. I run it often for muscle memory and testing content and it still clears around the average times (counting crit/dh variance into it).
@@halo2rocks76 _26679 DPS_ This was not my fastest clear against the training dummy using this rotation. It was simply my first clean attempt at doing so after coming up with it. The DPS calculations were done with the Stone Sea and Sky calculator and without max gear. Maybe someone with better gear could give a more accurate DPS rating. The standard rotation clears SSS on average about 10-15 seconds faster than this, though. I know I have it posted in a few spots, but this rotation can be optimized to do more damage by swapping Fire III and Fire Paradox placements so that your Fire III gains the Astral Fire II potency as well. Paradox does not benefit from Astral Fire modifier, and Despair will always come after Fire III, so it's good to just boost the Fire III damage. It doesn't impact the flow of the rotation whatsoever.
@@letherobr3178 The standard rotation is going to do more damage, but the changes to Despair this patch made it an instant cast, so you can be 100% mobile whenever needed. Having Swiftcast available every 40 seconds means that, in a case where you would need to move for extended periods, you could use the Swiftcast after a Despair > Transpose > Blizzard III to swap to this cast-free rotation; have around 20 seconds or so of movement; then swap back when needed. I haven't tested full applications with it, but it's considerably high damage for something that completely eliminates cast times for any number of minutes. I've messed around with it in a few dungeons and raids to see how easy it is to swap between the standard rotation and this rotation when extended movement is needed and it's fairly easy to do so. I wouldn't say it's a replacement for just playing BLM the traditional way, but who knows? With FRU right around the corner, maybe it could see some use?

@@asatowolfeHow much worse is the damage? Do you have DPS sim numbers to compare? On patch Savage and Ultimate kind of need pretty well optimized DPS to work so I feel like you may not be able to afford just sandbagging your DPS any more than 10% or so, so it would be nice to have some numbers here
@@childofaether8733 Unfortunately, I play on console. My only means of damage comparison are using the SSS calculator and comparing the average DPS/remaining time of this rotation and the standard rotation. I 100% agree that the standard rotation is more optimal and should always be used when able. This is not a replacement for standard rotation. It's more of a prog tool and can also be swapped to mid-pull if you anticipate heavy movement or panic for some reason and need to realign. All you need to do is _[Despair, Transpose, Swiftcast, Blizzard III],_ and you'll be fully mobile for several GCDs and can resume the standard rotation on whatever Fire phase you wish. This essentially turns a single Swiftcast/Triplecast into (or up to) several GCDs worth of free movement while still dealing decent damage. I've personally been getting a lot of value out of it so far by swapping between the two rotations (more value than I expected to come out of this, anyway). I should also note that this was done without max gear or pots on the M4S training dummy, with 20 seconds remaining. This wasn't even an optimized version of the rotation and was just a concept to show it works. My average M4S dummy clear time with an optimized route is between 28 and 31 seconds; but I'm certain someone with max gear could do it even faster. Some small adjustments can be made to increase the damage further as well, such as using Fire Paradox before Fire III to get the Astral Fire II value on the Fire III. I'm sure there are ways of optimizing it even further; but for now, it should just be used as a movement tool or for prog purposes unless someone is confident they can keep their standard rotation flowing 100% of the time.
@@mr.famunard2077 It started as a meme, and it's definitely not gonna replace the standard rotation, but it's 100% mobile and does surprisingly decent damage for the trade off. Having that, it can easily pass 30k DPS; which is higher than most jobs and can easily clear current content.
@@asatowolfe but I have a question, wouldn't it be better if we do paradox first and then fire 3? Because paradox is unaspected and thus does not get affected by astral fire stacks, but if we do paradox first fire 3 will benefit from the extra one astral fire stack we get from casting fire paradox.
@@Zanbatoss That is correct. Thank you for pointing this out. This video was more of a rough draft concept just to show it works rather than optimization. There are a few other adjustments I would make to optimize the rotation as well. I defaulted to using Fire III after Transpose- like the new standard rotation requires. But in this case, Fire Paradox first does add more value and changes nothing else with the rotation since it's all instant casts. I tested the rotation with the actions swapped, and there are no other negative impacts. If you intend to switch to this rotation mid encounter from the Standard rotation, however, and plan to swap back after extended movement is over, its better to keep the rotation the same way so the Fire III is not already drained when re-entering Astral Fire when intending to resume the standard rotation.
Lol
I'm not arguing that standard rotation isn't better whatsoever, but it's about a 10% difference at worst with bad crit/dh variance.
But why use Fire paradox before fire 3 considering of paradox potency is very higher than fire 3?
@@sandcastle7855 Paradox in Unaspected Damage. It does not gain potency from Astral Fire. I didn't think of optimizing that when coming up with the concept, but it still works (somewhat better) doing it this way.
In fact, I think I have a new idea that I'm going to try out that could increase the potency even further. I'll update if it works.
@@asatowolfe ok idk that paradox was not buffed by astral fire, thx for your work i try this new rotation and it was very fun, am excited to see the update.

Here is a more solid run of it being used. I'm uploading the video of the run now. I had to hard cast Blizzard III twice after the 6-minute mark, but aside from that, it was entirely instant cast rotation.

@@asatowolfe Nice, thanks for sharing, I will wait the video for fun, looks really interesting what you are doing. Thank you so much!
Can this rotation actually be continued indefinitely or will you hit a time where you run out of instant casts for blizzard 3?
I was able to keep the rotation up for more than 90% of the EX. Could potentially stay up longer than that. If I find a work-around or figure out that it was a mistake on my part, I'll update or upload a video of it.
@waxLyrical
This works off AF and UI buffs which require two casts each of fire x2 and ice x2.
Otherwise you can't trigger Paradox.
I'm really wondering how much dps would you realistically lose if you were to do this rotation about 30% of the time for mechanics?

How much damage does it do? I mean clearly enough since the dummy died
Out of curiosity Im guessing this is better for slow gcd builds of blackmage?
(also is there a guide to this on the balance or something?)
I'm guessing SSS difficulty wasn't adjusted in 7.1, in which case the extra leyline BLM got makes the job utterly overpowered against the dummy
I run it often for muscle memory and testing content and it still clears around the average times (counting crit/dh variance into it).
what was your DPS on this?
@@halo2rocks76 _26679 DPS_
This was not my fastest clear against the training dummy using this rotation. It was simply my first clean attempt at doing so after coming up with it. I was more interested in sharing the concept that BLM can be the most mobile caster.
My quickest clear with it was 28269 DPS; and that's at item level 725 without pots. Max gear and pots could easily push past 30k DPS.
It's by no means a replacement for the standard rotation, though- surprisingly high damage for something that was meant to be a meme rotation, but... it's no replacement for standard rotation at higher skill levels.
@@asatowolfe dps or rdps
@@asatowolfe Out of curiosity what's your DPS with standard rotation in comparison? fflogs I think is still pulling data from pre-7.1 with numbers like 27k ndps max
@@wilting2929 Unfortunately, I'm on console. I don't have access to third-party tools unless someone is nearby to upload or share with me.
Are there any situations this could be a gain over standard or is this a "oh f lemme not f it even more"
@@letherobr3178 The standard rotation is going to do more damage, but the changes to Despair this patch made it an instant cast, so you can be 100% mobile whenever needed.
@@asatowolfe I have been testing blm on EX3 myself, even tho it's possible i could do it with standard rotation all the time (a pain to do but can), having that option would be a bless for me, especially on manafont windows, so thanks for showing out!

But why use Ley Lines if no cast timers
@@chernobyl169 Ley Lines decreases the recast timer as well. Your GCD is faster when inside it.

I pinned a comment recommending them to be swapped if players are looking to stay on this rotation, though.
