- The Yukon Denali is FINALLY receiving a makeover from top to bottom. Under the hood is a 6.2L V8 mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. GMC has lengthened not only the wheelbase of the Yukon Denali but also the actual length of the vehicle. Under the rear of the Denali you will find independent rear suspension. On the outside the Yukon receives new sheetmetal and 22in wheels. On the inside you will find a Denali specific interior with more room and technology than every before! It's really not that impressive. They've got the 2nd row slide way forward giving the illusion of legroom but if someone was sitting there it would be less. Slide it back and a 2008 Expedition has as much room as that and the seat sits higher for more comfort. That third row is too low with your knees jacked to your chest. Chevy has been way behind on 3rd seating for a LONG time. They are only just catching up. Expeditions 3rd row reclines too. I don't believe Chevy's does. It's certainly improved but I think Ford still takes the edge on seating.

Parents just upgraded to this from a 2014 qx80 and this new truck is insane! So many features and feels so much more modern. It makes even the new infinity’s seem ancient. 👍🏽
Joe, great video, I appreciate all of your thorough reviews and content. The only thing I’d like to see you enhance your videos would be multiple camera angles and feeds when test driving! I think that would definitely provide the viewers with the exact rich content we’re all looking for! Great job though! I wasn’t considering a SLT until after seeing your video, but you really highlight what you get and you could save $20k versus a Denali, which, as you might say, buys a whole lot of twinkies or rolexes! Great review Joe as always. The 2021 Yukon Denali is definitely worth the wait! GM has raised the bar on this vehicle. I love the attention to detail that was put into this vehicle need less to say yes there are some options GM have missed out and should have captured from thier previous designs but hey hopefully GM will listen more and have those options added in thier next design. I do love the built in infotainment system just bang on the money as well as exterior and interior of the vehicle. The driving experience is exceptional great job GM in delivering a great product 👍🏿.

Interior is understated, yet nice. 6.2 ltr engine is bullet proof. GMC done good.
The interior is garbage. The 6.2 is possibly the worst engine of all time. It makes no power and is hilariously unreliable. They have cam issues, valve train issues, overheating issues, headgasket issues, oil consumption issues. The list goes on.

I know for a fact that the 6.2 is trash because I work on them every day. I know all this from personal experience. But if you don't believe me look it up yourself. All of the 6.2s faults are well documented. I know these engines inside and out so tread lightly.
@@Boss-bf7ru I've put 165,000 miles on my 2010 GMC with a 6.2. Never a problem. Wife has just under 100,000 on her 2014 Denali - never a problem. No oil leaks, no overheating. Independent mechanics praise the 6.2 (and 5.3 & 5.7). It's everything the Ford 7.4 wasn't (since its 1994 inception): Reliable and a workhorse. I'm not a GM fan boy. Only thing I'm a fan of is my money. GM V8s are reliable (mic drop).

If your "mechanic" "praises" the 6.2 you need to find a better mechanic. Any good mechanic will agree with me and disagree with you. There are literally TSBs for all of the 6.2s famous well documented engineering faults. Now you most likely have no idea what a tsb is so ill explain it to you. TSB stands for Technical Service Bulletin. Manufacturers send out TSBs to all the dealerships to show the technicians how to repair the issue. The list of TSBs for the 6.2 is extremely long. BTW 165000 miles is nothing. I find it funny that you think that is a lot. Here is your mic back try again.

I haven’t been a fan of the Yukon Denali in at least a decade but that 2021 model looks absolutely incredible front to back. GMC really did a great job on that one with aesthetics and every ergonomic detail; honestly it’s in Escalade company now - great review as always, thanks Joe! 🔥

Could you please start doing decibel readings in your reviews? Would be good to know the noise level at cruising speed, acceleration, ect.

We rented an XL for a cross country trip. First of all, insanely comfortable, drove smooth, no problems at all. Drunk driver in an Escalade collided us in the back going 60 while we were going 10. His vehicle was toast, ours had some body damage with a tail light broken, but otherwise it drove like it never happened. These things are tanks. Definitely considering buying one for myself now.

This suv looks absolutely amazing. I have yet to see such a decorative and luxurious look to an suv. I’m a ford guy, and I wish ford redid the expedition to be like this. Me and my fam have an old 2000ish Denali and it works great. I just hope this new one is reliable. Thx for another awesome review raiti.👍😊

Joel Y I have a 2015 Yukon XL, bought it loaded with options. 145k miles later it’s probably worth around $25k-$30k (on a generous offer)

Hey Joe I am a subscriber since last year and you know whats funny i was just building you 2021 yukon denali for a gift to my Aunt right now she has a 2011 GMC Yukon Denali and she loves it but the only reason why she wants the 2021 is because of that combination of the white and brown ish interior and on her 2011 she did straight pipe and it sounds nice

Tough pick between this and 2021 Chevy Tahoe. Both did a great job on their redesigns and their interior. Different engine choices are a plus too. Great job on the review Joe 👍🏼

Joe!!! You of all people should know, there is absolutely replacement for displacement. The Expedition stomps it out at 5.9sec and gets better gas mileage. What a beautiful truck though, super excited for the diesel!!!

I'm gonna zonk that tail lights extending to the tailgate. The shape reminds me of the Terrain which doesn't make sense. It looks really cheaply made. The best taillights in the market right now is the Telluride.
Hey Raiti!!! I'm subscribed and really enjoy your reviews. Did I miss this or did you leave out a very vital test for folks? The wheelbase on the redesign when parking that tank. With that larger hood presence now, customers are left wondering how easy it is to turn it into a parking space without a 3 point turn and realignment that is common with the Ford Expedition and F150 that also has that larger hood presence. I own a '17 XL. It's big too but because of that hood lowering as you move to the front of it, it's a breeze to park. How was this thing on parking? Is it like the Ford's now or is it still easy to park? THANKS!

GMC killed it with the 2021 Yukon Denali. Looks great both inside and out. Love that third row. They only thing I wish it had was a digital instrument cluster.

It’s a great SUV, I’m just surprised by the lack of storage spaces in the front row. No sunglasses holder, no dual glove compartment, no storage behind the infotainment screen. I expected a little more in storage for a vehicle of this size. The Tahoe even gives you an additional storage compartment next to the infotainment screen. Advantage Ford Expedition Platinum.

Badges and screens command a large premium, there's a huge demand for them.
I don't know why would buy the Escalade. This is the best looking out of all 3 GM brothers.

The Yukon Denali's always was my first choice over the Tahoe and even Escalade!
We also have historically chosen the Yukon Denali over the Escalade but not this time (3 times to be exact!). The new Escalade is finally far enough above and beyond the Denali that we bought it. I have no regrets. For some reason GMC decided not to put all the tech in the Denali which is a shame. It is certainly nice enough to pull it all off.
How about doing a review of the 2021 Navigator? Maybe even compare them

When Joe said it just came off the truck. It stuck a memory Does anyone every think of how many vehicles that come off the truck get struck by side rails and get repainted. I never even thought of this until I seen my friend Jerry at a new dealer . He owns a body shop and makes a living off dealers sideswiped vehicles. When you get a new car. LOOK at the paint good. If you don’t have a trained eye find one or get a paint meter.
That center console is absolutely massive!
It would be so difficult to choose a vehicle right now, lots of amazing choices!

@@trentjmcdonald Yep, it's a better "value". Cadillac Escalade customers aren't worried about values. They want the very best and with the 2021 Escalade that is exactly what you are getting. We bought an Escalade because of the freaking insane tech they came out with and you can't get that in the Yukon. Also bought it because it just oozes luxury and has a ton of finishes and touches that make it a step above the Yukon. Don't get me wrong, the Yukon is nicer than it's ever been, we've had 3 of them over the years, but the new Escalade is truly something special.
