Thanks for the video. FYI, when I was putting the carpet back in place, I realised that you can actually reach the outlet tube just by reaching over the left-hand corner when the carpet is in place...might be a bit more tricky to catch the liquid coming out but not impossible.
Definitely accessible without removing all the trim. I just did this process. When draining out the foam/cleaner back out, I just removed the hose from the spray can to drain the dirty water.
Toyota told me my compressor went out on my 2008 and shot metal shavings all through the system and everything needs replaced for like $4,000. I am a pretty good diy guy, any recommendation as to what I should do? What can I inspect to see if they're telling the truth or not? Thanks for the great videos btw!
I had the same told to me. Here's what I did. 1. Check if there's any leak from your condensor. If your condensor is fairly dirty with lots of dirt, possible leak and dirt is bonding to the oil. In my case condensor was good. 2. Do what I did in this video to see of the quality of the fluid that comes out is clear or super dark. If super dark it's super dirty and needs cleaning as well. If clear, you should be fine. 3. The most important one. Disconnect the compressor, tip the compressor upside down onto some white paper towels. There should be oil in the compressor and if you drain it out onto the paper towels, you should be able to see the oil quality, if there are metal fragments you can see it as well. In my case I didn't see any fragments so I just replaced the compressor, vacuum the system and then refill and it's all good with cold air again. Let me know... I can help.
I'm heading out today to do all of those things you recommended. Thank you so much for the advice! I was also going to ask, can I drive the car without the ac compressor? I was planning to remove it and seal the lines up so no dirt gets on them until I figure out what wrong and if I get a new compressor.
@@doubledsgarage-ddg3103 I have a vacuum pump recharge kit (actually just vacuumed and recharged my audi a3 two nights ago with it.) So, should I pull the compressor and check it, then just reinstall it? Also, I've already had the refrigerant pulled at Jiff Lube.

@Jeff Oh its best not to drive without it closed up at least. But I wouldn't recommend it. You need a vacuum to seal and remove moisture as well

@@jeffoh5787 turn it on first and see what sound it makes first before pulling it.
You can just access the hose from under the car to save ripping your carpets up.
Very true, but I have a cat shield so it's covering the line.
