I agree about the curves. If looks really good from the back and side. I think the front gives more of a cute vide as opposed to sleek sportiness of the rest of the body.
Nissan Qashqai rival with a few more trim and engine options. Does it, in manual transmission, lower powered versions, match the smoothness and refinement of the Qashqai? If it does better the Qashqai, is it by the amount of extra money difference between the two?
Hugh Denniston they should have made the Jag a bit cheaper, especially for the petrol models. This is a really tough segment now. I would say the XC40 might just edge out the Jag with the nicer interior
Nearly £50K? that's Macan territory. I'd be more interested to see this in its base level and see how much 'Jagness' is intact. Full leather, all the options ticked press cars are one thing..
alfamonk my God... for 50k you're gonna get the fucking shittest Macan ever, it'll be so basic it won't even have rear interior flights... I shit you not. I looked. Compare equipment adjusted prices FFS!
akkash5 I guess because we all know that the GLA is not really a crossover like these cars.. It more like a lift hatchback base on A class. But it was set to compare this segment...so for these cars reviewer it really hard or confuse to call it is a competitor.
Khoa Pham I'm not talking about the car per se.. But it's his attitude 'i don't care what alphabet GL-X' is whats irritating. This guy has to be one of the most boring reviewers out here on TH-cam.
How pathetic... Clearly, you do not have a single brain cell in that head of yours as you are incapable of putting a sentence together without using a swear word. How brave of you little keyboard warrior.. PATHETIC! Now crawl back under whatever rock you came out from under.
Weird...comparing it with the X1, instead of the X3....but then he says compare it to the Q3...I don't get auto comparisons sometimes...just not on the same level...and this attack is not on Autocar....on most of the guys out there....Just sayin
disarchitected:- I disagree. It's said in the same context as "in my opinion" which is a polite way to state that is what the commentators thoughts/opinions are, and that they are not trying to make out that what they say is fact or right, but just their opinion. So I like it when people say "Just sayin" :-)
Well he is flat out wrong and saying just sayin'. So double pointless points. BMW's naming convention differs from Audi's. The X series is one size up from the saloons. So the X1 is 3 series sized, the X3 is 5 series sized. Then their i series is one size down from the saloons. i3 is 1 series sized. The forth coming i5 will be 3 series sized.
I am fascinated to find that Matt has come to exactly the same conclusion as I did even though I was just in the showroom....it is a nice car...nice...but nothing makes me want it..it is a bland, Jaguarish box of good enough things done quite well. The engine is alright...it gets you there, the gearbox is good enough and it looks pleasant in an “old Quashquai “ kind of way. So now...yep...Porsche here I come...and I am a long term Jaguar Land Rover fan...but not of their current ranges I am afraid. 🤔🤔🙃
The point is that this may well be a “Casio” but that doesn’t mean it has to be so bland...a shrunken F Pace. Being “good enough” is not enough and in the showroom “Launch Night”, not one person actually was inspired enough to buy one! Also...the First Edition is £51,035 which means a similar Macan 2.0S is actually cheaper and a 3.0Sd is easily available for little more. Trust me...try a Macan and you will see why it is a vastly nicer car to drive. As for Rolex.....I have a 1949 one that was my father’s....and a Macan Turbo on order after trying the current JLR cars.🙂
HQBProductions fair enough. You're absolutely entitled to your opinion. I wouldn't put a Macan and an E Pace in the same category (Jez, not least a Macan turbo! - up to £80k???!!!). As opposed to Russian doll design couldn't disagree more - this is an F-type inspired SUV. For those not privileged enuff to afford a Macan turbo they could perhaps afford something with sporting aspirations and character...
They're sell bloody loads of them won't they, yeah right, you do know that the price tag is close to 50 grand. It isn't affordable to most people and even if you can afford it there are loads of choices with that price tag.
Jaguar and Tata Motors of India are 50-50 with Chinese state owned Chery. So maybe this is where the Likeness comes from. Jaguar and Chery opened an engine manufacturing plant in China too.
£48k for what he was in? Made in China or Austria?....by JLC's Indian owner.....no brand loyal buyer will want this......looks like a £25k Kia Sportage as well Jaguar have lost their way..
snooplikesbacon:- So that would also make the Q5 expensive trash if it's the same price, because as we all know German cars are mass produced and overpriced trash. Such a bold statement from someone who has never seen the Jaguar E Pace in the flesh nor driven it. But do joint the thoughtless thousands and thousands that buy German junk for the name, it certainly isn't for their reliability nor the looks. :-)
Del Mac the Q5 is in a tier above, and competes with vehicles such as the GLC, X4 and others. The E-pace is a micro SUV and it isn't even a bargain. I don't feel like it's worth $64k at all but that's just me. I could get into a SQ5 for that price, but who sells more the Brits or the Germans ? Thought so, maybe this is evidence why.
If you could read and retain it would help. I did state the German cars are mass produced, hence the mass produced comment. The E Pace is NOT a micro SUV, do you know anything? The E Pace starts from £28,500 while the Q5 starts from £38,000 so there is a big difference, the price you quote ($64k) is for a top of the range, if you did the same for the Q5 the price would shoot up as well. The Q5 is closer in size to the F Pace which starts at £34,000 so don't try and make out that Jaguars are over priced, you show lack of knowledge again. A true illiterate's way of thinking "but who sells more" - so in you uneducated world volume equals quality? I guess then that the best cars in the world are made by Ford and Toyota. You are a narrow minded twat.
Del Mac why are you getting so offensive and resorting to name calling ? High ego much, I live in Canada so our prices are different, I built a E-pace R-dynamic with a starting price of $51.000 plus the SE package which brings it up to $54k, keep in mind there is still the HSE above that. I went with the SE. No special wheels, not even fully loaded I picked out upgraded leather. A panoramic sunroof, sadly you have to pay 500 bucks for satellite radio, and the upgraded speakers for a total of $63K., keep in mind that's not even top of the line for a vehicle the size of a jeep compass. I built a Audi Q5 with the same options I built the jag with, and with Audi alot more is standard, so a fully loaded Audi Q5 technik for $58k for a bigger vehicle ? Come on now the jag has no value to it.
Del Mac Nor did I say the best cars are the most sold, but the Germans have more interior quality and better materials then jaguar, sure when the E-pace hits dealers I'll take it for a ride, but for the price They are asking I can get more technology in the Audi for cheaper, ask yourself if you would cough out $64000 For a vehicle something small. Hell id much rather consider it's competitor, the XC40 With every option for $52000, you don't see my point but I ain't hating. I just don't see any value in this product
"it's fine" As in, they're all the bloody same and no one with any interest in cars cares about slightly raised hatchbacks for young mums to blow their whole salary on so they can look cool at the school gates.
Hallelujah... a car company grew a pair and actually 'designed' a car without ctrl C, ctrl V... applaud you for the F Type inspired design. Bravo!
A review that tells u this jaguar feels like a jaguar.
Very helpful.... thanks.
That's funny
I like the look of this SUV a lot.
It's too cute, lol.
Hi, Each to his or her own I suppose, I like it's curves, I think the headlamps could look better but all in all it shapes up well.
I agree about the curves. If looks really good from the back and side. I think the front gives more of a cute vide as opposed to sleek sportiness of the rest of the body.
the fuck's with the audio?
That split satnav/tv screen looks amazing.
1:42 - 1:48 What was the all about? If the editor didn't want us to hear what was being said why not just cut it out?
earthstick hahah I was looking for a comment about it. Yeah this review was pretty ass
Guys please. We appreciate the videos , but a pay attention to the quality of the audio along the cuts. Thanks.
nice review, as always - sound quality seem poorish?
After watching these reviews, I realize how I miss Sutcliffe...
Why is this built by Magna Steyer and not on Merseyside where the Evoque is built and which is about to cut production volume?
Sound guy is a pro loooool
It’s a compact f-pace...🤔
I love his reviews. Cure for insomnia. Zzz
definately my next car!! 😍😍😍
looks like a fancy Mazda CX-5
Chhoti Gadi aur bada dhamaka
Nissan Qashqai rival with a few more trim and engine options. Does it, in manual transmission, lower powered versions, match the smoothness and refinement of the Qashqai? If it does better the Qashqai, is it by the amount of extra money difference between the two?
Din’t felt like an autocar review
Great Video Review of the best small SUV In Its Class
1:40 wtf? RIP headphone users
Very scary
How about that.. Autocar video that isn't sponsored.
I brought a new XJ around 3 years ago that was also built like a Jaguar that's why I only kept it 9 months!!!!!
£48,000!? No wonder Jaguar - Rover are laying workers off! Jeez!
dislike the front lamp
The most boring review I've ever seen!!
How ?? You make one !!
I guess he is talking about a car, am i right?
Reply what you would choose
1. BMW X1
2. Audi Q3
3. Mercedes Benz CLA
4. Volvo Xc40
5. Jaguar E pace
Hugh Denniston they should have made the Jag a bit cheaper, especially for the petrol models. This is a really tough segment now. I would say the XC40 might just edge out the Jag with the nicer interior
E-Pace for sure
Its BMW X1 or Volvo xc40 for me
XC40
Xc40 looks very ugly and like a Lego car. And I'm a Volvo guy
I too thought it's a electric car... Brands and jaguar, Land Rover , BMW , Audi and Mercedes are getting into common zone which is not good
Looks like a Jaguar ?
Looks nothing like my XJ-S !!
Jaguar used to make some of the most exciting, iconic cars in the world. Now it makes this 🤦♂️
Nearly £50K? that's Macan territory.
Right! I wonder why so many people aren’t able to compare cars in the right way.
For me the BMW X1 is still the best styling of this segment..The other, sorry but they have to learn how to design a small SUV
I thought it's only the outside ugly, but the internal (mostly the dash/T design)... almost disastrous, IMHO.
Wouldn't you guys for 50k+ rather buy a Macan with a nice 6 cylinder & much better performance?
It’s hard to buy a new Macan with only 50k
Mercedes GL...A? - are you trying to be fake funny or show us that you're not good at your job?
akkash5 I guess because we all know that the GLA is not really a crossover like these cars.. It more like a lift hatchback base on A class. But it was set to compare this segment...so for these cars reviewer it really hard or confuse to call it is a competitor.

He’s cocky as fuck.
It looks like a swift from the front...
Spot on!!
Yeah
I nearly saw a smile
Not a word about the weight. This vehicle is a real porker.
The front is way too cute looking. Like a Pokemon, lol.
Sounds like damning with faint praise to me
Did they make yet another vehicle with a glass roof that doesn't open? May be fine for the F-Type sports car chassis but unacceptable for a SUV.
Way to heavy. But.. as expected, from this channel. All British car's are good..
3:11 Is that BBC network playing on the entertainment system screen? Guess that’s one of those features that Americans aren’t smart enough to have
Sound quality was shit in the middle portion of the videos.....get your act together maannnn
Not loving the 4 cyl engine sound on this
That interior looks worse than Hyundai, Kia, Honda, Toyota, and everything else below Jaguar's apparent market status. Jaguar really really lazy.
Why, Jaguar?
This car is about as interesting as the people that will buy them.... Incredibly dull...
Meaning?
No way. This is an incredibly dull segment anyways, why not get a jaguar
How pathetic... Clearly, you do not have a single brain cell in that head of yours as you are incapable of putting a sentence together without using a swear word. How brave of you little keyboard warrior.. PATHETIC! Now crawl back under whatever rock you came out from under.
Paul Nichols so what car would u rather have? A similar sized bmw or Audi or Merc SUV is even more boring
Hehehe Hhehe None of them. Our roads have become filled with these ridiculous types of car.
Not sure 'nice enough' has sold it to me.....
Audio mix is terrible...
Nice but Way too expensive for the car you get!!
Nice car
It looks quite odd.
Can we be realistic here:
1. XC40
2. X1
3. Q3
3. Bicycle
I thi k you make every car sound depressing
Weird...comparing it with the X1, instead of the X3....but then he says compare it to the Q3...I don't get auto comparisons sometimes...just not on the same level...and this attack is not on Autocar....on most of the guys out there....Just sayin
Rami Obeid I find people who say just sayin at the end of everything they say wierd. Its just so pointless.
disarchitected:- I disagree. X3 is a Q5's competitor.
It isn't even that great looking. It's ok, but stagnant. Will sell well in China though so that's all that matters
I am fascinated to find that Matt has come to exactly the same conclusion as I did even though I was just in the showroom....it is a nice car...nice...but nothing makes me want it..it is a bland, Jaguarish box of good enough things done quite well. HQBProductions WTF? That's like saying a Casio is nice enough, I'm a life long Casio fan but not for me... I'll have the Rolex?!
The point is that this may well be a “Casio” but that doesn’t mean it has to be so bland...a shrunken F Pace. like the car, hate the vid. Audio is terrible
cool jaguar (y)
'Did anyone count the number of 'sort of's in the commentary!!! Ridiculous
Arrey bhai todi aramse bolo , itni tejh nhi.
FWD for SUV????? I wish I died.
sigh
I think the X1 and Q3 are a bit better.
TheJoeMB Really.......
Q3? Really?
Swift lag rahi hai
It's a nice car, but the GLC is probably a better option to go for.
GLC is 26 centimetres longer, it can’t be compared.
Baby jag
The front, oh dear... It looks like a SsangYong or something Chinese.
Very much agreed.... and btw isn't Jaguar bought by...
ICU Biker India
Sure, Tata India puts money and shares the profits but Jaguar Uk still designs and builds the cars, though EPace is built in Austria.
Jaguar and Tata Motors of India are 50-50 with Chinese state owned Chery. So maybe this is where the Likeness comes from. Jaguar and Chery opened an engine manufacturing plant in China too.

English cars are the best in the world
nasty.
THESE ENGLISH REVIEWER LIKE THIS GUY AND MAT WATSON TEND TO MUMBLE MAKING IT VERY HARD TO WATCH.
Is he the worst reviewer ever?! What's with his voice? Is he trying to act cool or what?
It's fine. 😂😂😂😂
JLR reliability and quality are horrendous.
The most boring review ever😭
Bit of a yawn,nothing special..
£48k for what he was in? Made in China or Austria?....by JLC's Indian owner.....no brand loyal buyer will want this......looks like a £25k Kia Sportage as well Jaguar have lost their way..
Expensive trash. Could get into a brand new Q5 technik for the same price.
snooplikesbacon:- So that would also make the Q5 expensive trash if it's the same price, because as we all know German cars are mass produced and overpriced trash. Looks like a Nissan.
It look like cross over version of Maruti Swift
