  • Enjoy our performance of Tchaikovsky’s stunning Finale from ‘Swan Lake’ in celebration of World Ballet Day. Despite its initial failure, 'Swan Lake' is one of the most popular ballets of all time, and is often performed by the major ballet companies across the globe.

The harp section at the end has always carried the entire ballet. All of Odette's feelings are within in. The women who performed this one straight up gave me chills. Kudos to all of them.

2:41 insane how modern this sounds. It was composed in 1877.

Yes great to have you back. Who is the conductor, the music dragged.....far too slow!

From having listened to a lot of ballets without dancers I've seen a trend of conductors being more liberal with the tempos presumably as they're unrestricted by the dancers. Personally I like this interpretation, its different yes, but it's even more agonising and emotional than with a full speed version. Whilst it may not be everybody's cup of tea I think it's good and refreshing for music to have a range of interpretations, some of which my deviate from tempo markings fairly significantly. Personally this is actually my favourite version of the finale!

@@markmingard6882 agree! For pure hearing, without the ballet, I really enjoy this extended tempo ☺️ - especially also the very end with the strings and harp part

Actually this tempo was good and I’m very anal retentive about tempo

I saw another performance where it was way too fast and it just ruins it. This one is still emotional. Yes maybe the beginning could be a tad faster but slower tempo is harder to play well

@@sann5146 exactly. Fast tempo totally ruins that final bit
