  • This is a guide to changing your timing belt on the 5th gen prelude or h22a. When I recorded this it was my first time and I didn’t document or record the whole process because I was limited in space. I apologize if I didn’t show everything that needed to be shown. Music in the video was provided by Artlist, I decided to step up my quality by paying a subscription service for better quality music. I worked extremely hard for this video to be released; hopefully, it helps you. Please comment if you’re having problems or if I did something incorrectly, please correct me.

    After u lower ur engine block then remove the lower timing cover by turning the cover to 10 or 11 o'clock then it will come out that way

      You're welcome, brother. I'm in the middle of doing my TB right now. My crank pulley walked off just before Christmas. Gonna change all the oil seals on that side while I'm in there.

    Congratulations! Watching your video reminded me of the pains and frustrations I experienced when I replaced my timing belt on my 1985 Prelude Si . It took me a long time , stressful because I’m afraid of messing up and ruining my engine, but overall It turned out well , i watched many videos over and over so as to get comfortable doing it. Good luck to you!

    I don't know what details you missed. I've done enough work to get confident trying this after watching you do it. Here's a simple "thank you". 😄

    Hey man, you already have my respect. I wish I had time to watch the whole video now but I have to come back later. I just wanted to say thank you for making it, the Prelude doesn't get a lot of love, but it's a fantastic vehicle and I've had several. I'm about to do my timing belt for the third time on my current Prelude and a little refresher is always super helpful! I can't wait to watch, and I'll try and chime in with anything I think may be helpful! God bless!

      Thank you for the kind words man. It’s very hard to get recognition or to get a simple “thank you” on this platform. I really try hard to put effort and I’m learning to make more for the audience and what they want.

    Hey,just want to say that you did a great job creating this video, it's one of the better video's I've seen on this topic. How you presented everything was on point and accurate which is impressive since it was your first time doing this job, shows you took the time to do some research. Just so you know every body who has done the timing belt with the engine still in had difficulty removing the front cover their first time lol. There are a few minor things that can be done to make the job a bit easier but all in all you covered it well. One thing I recommend is to use some blue loctite on the crankshaft pulley bolt when installing it and make sure it is torqued to 181 foot pounds. If that bolt comes loose it will wear down the pulley , gears and crankshaft causing the pulley to wobble permanentley.👍

      Honestly this took me a long time to make. I think I could’ve done it better. I regret doing it wrong the first time and breaking the timing cover. I regret not putting the cam seals on wrong the first time to and having to redo it. I made a lot of mistakes that I didn’t show in the video. But I’m glad you think it’s good because you sound like you have more experience than me. So hearing that from you really made my day. Thank you so much

    Very thorough! Could have mentioned balance shaft delete or manual tensioner upgrades since you would have the engine apart.

    • @preludeboy99
      @preludeboy99  ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't do that, I would've mentioned it if I did it and personally I didn't want to mess with the car anymore than I did haha.

    I worked extremely hard to get this video out, I apologize if I missed some stuff or if some things were confusing. Something I forgot to mention was pulling the spark plugs out, it helps rotate the crankshaft easier.

    I have a question.. I keep seeing the crankshaft keyway indent around the 9 o clock position, shouldn’t it be at 12 o clock to be at tdc when the timing belt comes off?
    Awesome video thanks for posting it!

    • @preludeboy99
      @preludeboy99  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes it should be; and it was when I was flinging this. There are multiple ways to check if the crank is at TDC. But ultimately you want it on the TDC mark on the block.

    my honda prelude affer change a timing belt make hissing noise from inside timing belt cover when car at idle

    • @preludeboy99
      @preludeboy99  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It could be the tensioners. For the drive belt. I am hearing a hissing as well after changing mine and I don’t think it’s damaging anything or a sign of something wrong.

  • @nhoegil7070
    @nhoegil7070 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can’t you just put the tdc from transmission marks?

    • @preludeboy99
      @preludeboy99  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not at the transmission but at the fly wheel, which is connected to the transmission. There are timing marks on the fly wheel that can only be seen through a maintenance hole on the block.
