Would you think about doing a video of you walking into a 'smart' house decked out with the hue products, maybe the nest, august smart lock and other smart products, and just show how you have it set up, how it can save you money on energy bills and how it can just make life easier for you. A video showcasing that would be pretty cool to see. Hopefully bring more attention to the channel too :)

+Michael Dimaline I'm totally on board for more attention to the channel! I actually went and shot a lot of that footage for a video like that but.. I need a narrative to kind of run through the video. What am I saying? Am I talked about energy saving? HomeKit? Smartphones in general? I guess when I finally figure out WHAT I want to say, and make it cohesive, I can move forward with it!

Hey Andrew. I just now got around to trying out the new Hue Gen 3 bulb. While I am happy that the blues and greens are corrected it looks like in doing so we've lost the deep violet (the old "blue"). If I try to go to the same place on the "color picker" it's now a washed out violet. This is a real drag because I really liked that color to simulate a blacklight. But I'm also wondering if this is just me or if others are seeing this. Have you?

Cool! yeah the green was disappointing for sure, I need 5 more so will wait to get the 2016 bulbs.

Would be usefull to see what the effect on the bulb is when you are fiddling in the app.

+Duci1989 after I show the color changes, I show the app, and my finger goes around the edge, changing colors? That's what I was doing with the bulbs. I wanted really to focus just on the color, not the Hue system as a whole. If you want to know more about the Hue system, check out my other videos. We have a bunch on every Hue light sold

Thanks for the review. It looks like the link you have in the description is actually for the 2nd generation bulb which is $45. Here's a link to the 3rd which is $50: www.amazon.com/Philips-464503-White-Color-Generation/dp/B01KJYSOHM/ref=dp_ob_title_hi. Funny that Philips is taking pre-orders for the full $60 but Amazon already has them for $50?

It's still not 800 lumens at 2700k right ... I will wait one more year if Phillips can't fix this my entire new home will have some other brand. Don't want dull lights.

    Still can't beat Lifx.

Well it was for the better colors. Might have to give the new Hue a try now. There is also the fact Lifx does not need a hub plugged into your router.

+IAmNotAFunguy that is true.! No hub required. The plus side to the hub, is that zigbee creates a mesh network! So if you have poor wifi reception in places like a garage, a basement, or a top floor, zigbee just connects to the nearest bulb. If it doesn't reach? Put a bulb in between and it works! So much better reach than wifi. You also have a lot more bulb options and price ranges with Hue.
