    I use the paper from Home Depot for everything too, including patterns! It is actually intended to be used to cover floors when painting. It’s a great, thick paper!

    I used washi tape last time I copied a pattern and it was so much easier to work with because it peels away without tearing.

    Hi Alissa
    During the pandemic I used clear tablecloths to draft my patterns and, for me it worked out good because I’m fairly new to sewing and I needed to see my material and what I was cutting into.

    Hi Alisa!! It really is amazing how long a roll of medical paper can last & I trace off all my patterns.. I also use a notebook to mark any changes, so I don’t forget for the next time….

    Your drafting explanation is one of the best yet I've seen...that is my greatest weakness. I took 5 yrs of seeing classes in the 1970's. But we were only taught on preprinted patterns...I have all the skills except drafting...thank you

    For patterns I like to use film which is used for greenhouses. Transparent, easy to store (doesn't break) and can be bought in all construction stores.

    Hi! Love your videos on TH-cam ❤ I'm from Sweden and I use a roll of NonWowen to my patterns. I think other countries call it Swedish tracing paper. It is made by 70% viscos and 30% polyester, and I love to use it. Sorry for my bad English!

    Thrift store bed sheets are a cheap alternative for muslin.
    I did find a good sale at the fabric store the other day on muslin. It was 45" wide though. It will work for garment sewing.

    I recently found your channel and really appreciate how accessible you make the process of pattern drafting! I was really intimidated at first, but now it doesn't seem so bad. Your list was very helpful. I have used gallon sized zip lock bags to corral pattern pieces or project notes before. It's an easy way to see what's inside and I can easily label it.

    Every time I draft a pattern I store them under a rug to keep them flat and every time I add a pattern I scold myself saying …… really must sort all these patterns out in to specific patterns. But now its such a muddle I can hardly bring myself to do it.

    Do you make muslins for patterns intended for knit fabrics? If so, how do you adjust the muslin for the negative or positive ease?

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello there! It depends, if it something I have done over the years and am familiar with the design - then no, if it is a new idea and I need to see how it will play out - then yes. I have a video about that on my channel it is called "knit bodice block + sleeve", there is also a Members Only video on that topic! In the knit bodice block video I explain negative ease and how I adjust for it, hope it helps!
