I must be the Benjamin Button of games. I could get past the first 2 levels at least, using gambit in the first and Cyclops in the second, without getting hit at all as a kid, after a lot of practice. I doubt I'll be able to clear those stages like that as an adult now.
I made it to the second to last level a few times as a kid but couldn't figure out how that I had to physically reset the Genesis to enter last level. Didn't help that this was my first game I got on the Genesis. I had a gameboy before that..

We both looking at each other and thinking "it can't be" 😂 Given how hard the game is can you imagine how much of a gamble it was for a kid to press the reset button and potentially lose all its progress? And the wild roar I gave when it actually paid off? 😂 Never managed to beat the Avalon level though. Good times, you don't make games like these anymore. Well played mate!

I asked him I am stuck on level 5, it says to reset my console, I thought he was going to tell me go here it's through a wall etc. When he told me yeah just reset the genesis????? I am like what??? Won't the game start over??? He was like no it's a thing for this game and whatever. Then I pressed reset on the console. I was really shocked when I found that out as a kid.
@@TyyTheFlyGuy that title was a good follow up to this game. I like that Beast and Psylocke became playable characters in it. Caught me off guard as a kid that the game throws you into action immediately after pressing the power button.

@@AFrame Hey hey, so I tried the level skip glitch on a genesis emulator (Fusion I believe) and whenever I would do it the game would glitch and I would have to restart the emulator so I think I was doing it correctly but the game wouldn't load properly. I bought a retro gaming handheld console (RG351M) and I tried the glitch out again AND I WAS ABLE TO GET IT!! So I plan on continuing a run like yours. Didn't want you to think I was lying!

@@AFrame He's referring to the level select code. Hold Down arrow+ A + C and turn on console. Keep holding until after selecting difficulty level. This converts the 8 switches to the right of the central computer in the danger room into level select shortcuts. Crouching in front of a switch and hitting "C" will warp you to the corresponding level. I suspect you're already familiar with this, but (correctly) believe that using a literal level select code invalidates the purpose of a speed run.

A-Frame very cool. This was my favorite game as a kid. I discovered a wall skip on asteroid m without using teleporting and a faster three hit kill for magneto i haven’t seen anyone else do. Ill have to share it with you

I don't know how or why it works - it was shown to me by another runner named Smell McTroll. To perform it, as you are exiting the Danger Room to enter the next level, you hold down Gambit's special attack. Release the attack once the screen starts to fade up and it kicks you back to the Danger Room as if you completed the level (or portion of a level). It only seems to work for Level 1.1, Level 1.2, and Level 2.

Is this in regard to when the dialog boxes appear after the levels? That is the only difference I have seen so far between versions. I would be curious to learn if there are more, though.

Coming out strong with the accusation, ha ha. If you hold the teleport button for a very short time while also keeping the d-pad neutral it won't deplete enough energy for the bar to move (or not enough is depleted to outpace energy recovery). Fire up the game and give it a try.

SNES had mutant apocalypse which was equally as good.
This game was sick but I played the Clone game more on Genesis.

I tried the lvl skip glitch. Super easy..thanks for letting us know how.. wish I knew it as a kid.. to bad it doesn't let you do it for every lvl
You can also do it while entering the lighthouse! It lets you skip the Apoc fight.

Higher jump double tap jump but on second tap hold to go higher plus with this technique characters with double jump can go even higher
