I was about 9-10 when the game came out in arcade before releasing to the PS2 and the game booth was always packed. Thought I'd mention the old school low parry is actually stronger than what we have now for the most part, if you low parry a kick move you get a guaranteed full df2 launch combo as opposed to a scaled down one
There are very few people around who played this game in the arcades when the competitive scene was first starting to take root. To those people, this will always be the best Tekken game.
Tekken Tag 1 was my first fighting game along with KOF 02 UM ever, I know it’s not a perfect fighting game but I have fond memories of playing it along with the time I spent with my uncle who bought me the games, it was such a great game and I think it still is to this day.
23:56 gotta correct you here; Unknown isn't Jun's alter ego. Technically she's no one since the game is non canon, but she's suppose to be Jun's younger sister. Notice Unknown having brown hair, where Jun has black hair, Unknown being left handed, Jun being right handed, Unknown having green eyes(yellow when possessed), Jun having brown eyes, Unknown might also be slightly shorter, but i'm not 100% about that one.
Ahh, I thought she was since Jun transforms into Unknown in Tag 2 and that’s the closest we got to official confirmation. You do bring up some good points tho, and if I recall correctly she was planned to be Jun’s sister during development. I can’t find anything confirming she is in the final game, but that was probably their intention so yeaa I believe you’re right 👍🏼
@@JuiceboxJoints They confirmed it in the Tekken 6 artbook she was suppose to be Jun's sister, this idea was scrapped though after they decided to make the game non-canon. The differences between the characters (hair, eyes, etc.) are still in the game though. And yea in Tag 2 they changed this into Jun changing Unknown, which i personally am not a fan off. I preferred them being seperate characters. I've read a theory that Jun in Tag 2 might be Unknown dressed as Jun and that's why Jin and Jun don't have good Netsu together. Ofcourse just a theory, but i prefer them as seperate characters and i hope they won't merch them together in the canon.
Thank you very much bro! I appreciate you sharing your thoughts! 🙌🏼 Go ahead and boot it up again, it’ll feel as good to play as the last time you did.
After watching this, I guess America's future isn't as fckd as I once thought. Our president might call people "brah" but he will have profound appreciation for Tekken Tag Tournament.
Hey great work keep it up! You earned my sub fr. I'm excited to see your next video as well as watch the past couple you have made. I'll keep my eyes peeled in the future for a Patreon page, seriously this is great content and it would be a shame to see die.
So the story of this game is basically this: So there's this JoJos stand that somehow just exists. The stand posesses people and grows limbs by absorbing it's user. The stand's user manages to give the stand stomach cancer and explodes it from the inside creating a jumbo size serving of spaghetti. Man this series is wild.
Dope video dude. You're a lot of fun to watch. That Sakura video sounds like it would be great. Hope you cover some Parasite Eve cinematics in that next video.
This video has so much depth! I really appreciate all this detailed info. I'm def gonna pay it a revisit. Think I'll fire up Tekken Tag on the PS3 soon 😎👍
Thanks for the reply. I'd love to see you cover Soul Edge and Tekken 4, since you prefer 3D fighters. I spent shitloads of time on both of those. I love Soul Calibur 1 and 2, but couldn't get into 3, and only casually played SC4. 5 was trash, and 6 just feels incomplete and has wack dlc characters, except for Hwang.... who was too little; Too late. I just wanted Lizardman to make it in! I'm sure you'll take off organically with more content, please keep it comin.
Tekken 4 is actually my favorite fighting game of all time, so I plan on making a video on that one wayyyy later in the future once I believe I could make it the best Tekken 4 video on TH-cam. I do plan on doing Soul Edge tho! Also, thanks for believing in me. Your words are appreciated. 🙏🏼
@JuiceboxJoints - 👊😎.... love Tekken 4! Played a bootleg of the import, hardcore until the U.S. version finally dropped.... used to have to wait like a year for a U.S. fighter to make it over from Japan! That T4 Force mode + the main game's wall mechanics both need to make a return in T8, but I'm not holding my breath. T8 looks like a mixed bag, so far. I've played every Tekken in arcades, up until T5... after that, newer cabs were rare in my area. I did see T6 in an arcade here once. Didn't play it, tho. Too bad more younger dudes aren't as open-minded about classic fighters as you are.... props on having some taste yo 👍!
nice video man really good presentation and research and the ost and music you use so chilling you could make your videos around 20 minutes and it will be perfect, well done.
i just love the vibe of old tekken like t3, tag 1 and t4. it didnt go too over the top and didnt try too hard to be cool like how it seems in tekken 5 onwards. there was a unique kind of soul that is just so comfy looking back on it and i wish it was present in the newer games but nah
Agreed, the aesthetics were more defined and I feel like there was more effort put in the non gameplay areas of the games. T7 has my favorite gameplay in the series for sure, but personally nothing comes close to the cozy vibe Tekken 4 gives off with it’s unique announcer, pastel color palette, ambient stages and music, drippy character design, and much more mature story. Oh shit I’m rambling, thank you for watching!
@@JuiceboxJoints dont worry about the rambling, i feel the exact same way as you! watching this video and seeing tag 1 made me feel a bit more iffy about tekken 7 despite it's solid gameplay just because the vibe feels more... esports-y (with the HYPE EDM music and FLAMING MATCH INTROES and DRAMATIC CRAZY LAVA STAGES) rather than something that's more defined as you said, which sadly feels less mature
Thank God there are people like you out there speaking the truth. I hate all the fans who just accept all the shit the developers have been giving us since Tekken 5. Tekken used to actually be cool, now it's just embarrassing...I still play but I long for Tekken 1 to Tekken 4 vibe
The Kazuya wanted poster 😂 I lived in Delaware all my life and never seen that man there but that's definitely a place to hide if you're hiding from child support payments
i used to play jin/devil/kazuya in this game when i first played it but i barely touch any of those characters in anything after this game bc ewgf started becoming more and more mandatory to master esp in t6 where all those characters were really weak so i started learning Lili and Asuka more and they're more fun to me in the more recent games
@@JuiceboxJoints I do I beat the game with one quarter last time I was there only thing that sucks is that the joy sticks are kind of fucked up and hard to operate

Ahh I did forget about the frame differences between parrying punches and kicks, thank you sm for correcting me. 🙏🏼
As a tekken old head thanks for this video. Its important to remember the history
Yessir 🙏🏼
There are very few people around who played this game in the arcades when the competitive scene was first starting to take root. To those people, this will always be the best Tekken game.
Tekken Tag 1 was my first fighting game along with KOF 02 UM ever, I know it’s not a perfect fighting game but I have fond memories of playing it along with the time I spent with my uncle who bought me the games, it was such a great game and I think it still is to this day.
Sweet memories.
keep on grinding my man, vids are fun so far!
I’m glad to hear it! Thank you for the support! 🙏🏼
Banger video mate! Never realized how good Tag 1 music is.
Check out the arcade soundtrack too!
TTT2 and MGS2 were my first PS2 games. As a 12 year old I was STUNNED by the graphics and the spectacle.
Good times.
I can’t imagine how crazy it was to witness the graphical leap from the PS1 to the PS2 era!
@@JuiceboxJoints It certainly was. I used to think MGS1 looked great back then. Then I saw 2 and my brain flipped. It felt almost unreal.
I’m subscribing to you, because very rare do I watch one of these and feel the need to actually play the game again. Good lookin out bro 🤘🏾
Thank you very much bro! I appreciate you sharing your thoughts! 🙌🏼
Go ahead and boot it up again, it’ll feel as good to play as the last time you did.
I love how you edit bro. Keep it up
Thank you!

Funny enough, when I was a child, before I learned the story behind Jin and Kazuya, I use to think they were brothers. 😅
After watching this, I guess America's future isn't as fckd as I once thought. Our president might call people "brah" but he will have profound appreciation for Tekken Tag Tournament.
i just found your channel. Keep it up man, this is gold to me.
Great video bro, I'm looking forward for the next one g
I really appreciate that!
Entertaining video. 14:24 - 14:34 Hilarious. Hope to see more of these.
Thank you for the kind words! 🙏🏼
Hey great work keep it up! You earned my sub fr. I'm excited to see your next video as well as watch the past couple you have made. I'll keep my eyes peeled in the future for a Patreon page, seriously this is great content and it would be a shame to see die.
Using the Tetsujin bonk as a censor was hilarious, subbed.
I knew it was the right move
Yeah, this video fye, subscribed.
Your voice is chill af really dig that
Xaiyou’s theme is 🔥🔥👌👌
Aux worthy.
Lmao dawg, wonderful retrospective! I was prolly your age when this shit dropped, and I remember the impact well. Good old days G
Forgot to reply, but thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it as an OG 🙏🏼
@@JuiceboxJoints You're welcome, bro! Thanks for your kind words 🙏🏾 You gonna make it big on TH-cam for sure, I look forward to it
So the story of this game is basically this:
So there's this JoJos stand that somehow just exists. The stand posesses people and grows limbs by absorbing it's user. The stand's user manages to give the stand stomach cancer and explodes it from the inside creating a jumbo size serving of spaghetti.
Man this series is wild.
Ouhh nice video bro! I was fixing to do a zoomer's retrospective on Virtua Fighter so it's nice to see a video similar 👍
Hey thank you very much bro!
Let me know when you finish that video! I’d love to check it out as someone who wants to get into Virtua Fighter more 🙌🏼
i loved doing bowling w Bryan bc you got to see his robot eye
Dope video dude. You're a lot of fun to watch. That Sakura video sounds like it would be great. Hope you cover some Parasite Eve cinematics in that next video.
Thank you! That means a lot to me!
And of course, you already know the opera scene is a must!
What it comes to, true ogre, it's a Chimera.
This video has so much depth! I really appreciate all this detailed info. I'm def gonna pay it a revisit. Think I'll fire up Tekken Tag on the PS3 soon 😎👍
You won’t be disappointed!
@JuiceboxJoints -
👊😎.... love Tekken 4!
Bro sounds like he's fighting falling asleep the whole video lol
Lmao this is me putting as much emotion into my voice as I can. I just talk like that 😭
@@JuiceboxJoints oh dont worry I sound the same way lol
nice video man really good presentation and research and the ost and music you use so chilling you could make your videos around 20 minutes and it will be perfect, well done.
i just love the vibe of old tekken like t3, tag 1 and t4. it didnt go too over the top and didnt try too hard to be cool like how it seems in tekken 5 onwards. there was a unique kind of soul that is just so comfy looking back on it and i wish it was present in the newer games but nah
21:54 CUTE?! TRUE OGRE?! YOU SURE?!
He’s adorable
The ps1 version was actually in development but the ps1 couldn't handle switching 4 fighters without loading, so the game moved to ps2
9:10-9:20
Understatement of the decade
The Kazuya wanted poster 😂
I lived in Delaware all my life and never seen that man there but that's definitely a place to hide if you're hiding from child support payments
Lmaooo I’ll keep that in mind…
I'm so glad I accidentally found this video... love it
I’m so glad you took time out of your day to watch it…thank you!
This was a damn good video, keep up the good work 👏 .
Thank you!

Sadly your not wrong.

FOUL
CAUTION: Please do not try this at home.
Literally every noob player at bowling:
I cannot imagine this dude raging when playing, that's how chill he seems
i used to play jin/devil/kazuya in this game when i first played it but i barely touch any of those characters in anything after this game bc ewgf started becoming more and more mandatory to master esp in t6 where all those characters were really weak so i started learning Lili and Asuka more and they're more fun to me in the more recent games
video was fire keep ‘em comin homie!
what an amazing video! :D
Great video. I've never played TTT myself. Gotta check it out one day
10:22
Honestly one of the most disrespectful throws ever, never mind the rest of the bone breaking grabs 😅
Baek doo San in tekken tag tournament 1 the best looking baek to me that was when he was young
But I wish tekken tag tournament was canon
He’s also young in Tekken 2!
Excellent video fam. Keep it up 👍
Lol I remember this game as a kid blew my mind I live in Sacramento there's a barcade in downtown sac called coin op this game is still at that arcade
That’s dope, you should go play sometime lmao
@@JuiceboxJoints I do I beat the game with one quarter last time I was there only thing that sucks is that the joy sticks are kind of fucked up and hard to operate
it was missing dr b outside of him being in the background of bowling which seemed odd to me
