BOITATÁ: According to the legend, there was once a long period of darkness when the sun did not shine and a deluge myth flooded the earth. These conditions killed many animals and forced the beasts to flee their natural habitat. Among the displaced survivors was the boiguaçu, a giant cave anaconda. Emerging from its lair, the boiguaçu began to eat the eyes of the dead, which shone brightly in the darkness and made for tasty delicacies. As the snake ate more and more of these delicious, shiny eyes, its body began to shine, too, but the eyes-only diet steadily weakened it, and it perished… in a blaze of glory. For, upon its death, all the light collected inside it escaped to the sun, and the dark days were finally over. There must have been some magic in all those eyeballs, because the boitatá lived on in spirit. It inhabits the Amazon jungles to this day, often appearing at night as nothing but two glowing, fiery eyes. Some say it can breathe fire as well, an ability it uses to incinerate people who harm the rainforest by chopping trees down or starting fires. Others say it can actually disguise itself as a tree trunk, then roast alive any lumberjack who comes to cut it down. Oh, and it can also blind you and make you insane if you gaze into its eyes. There are other versions of the legend that describe the boitatá as a giant, fiery bull who hunts the hunters, and yet others that associate it with almas penadas - souls that are cursed for various reasons, from immorality to dealing dishonestly with the devil. Many descriptions of the boitatá legend connect it with ignis fatuus, or that fiery phenomenon known as the will-o’-the-wisp. There is some overlap between the legends of the boitatá and the boiúna, an evil black snake that is said to take a variety of forms, attack and devour people, and use its flaming eyes to lead boats to their ruin.
@@Sorrowdusk no, but i myself was into a very scary situation 2 years ago. I live in a town and i was working on a city nearby ( 1 hour drive distance). The work was to manage a music show club and after the show i took the road with my wife. In the middle of it we saw some HUGE furry like creature ( the size of a horse) jumping throughout a brige 10 meters tall into the Highway that passes underneath. We still have no idea what it was and how could it survive the jump. ( i did not stop to check of course, but as no weird news come by the other day about a werewolf/horse monster smashed into the Highway i presume the beast was fine). I craped my pants and move on with my life.
This story, unlike many, actually made me tear up. I wish for his afterlife to be blissful and for his spirit to be in peace. Rest well... No one at all deserves such a horrendous death like that, especially one innocent man, unknowing to what was going to happen to him.
I said the same as you like no one deserves such an evil attack. You live your whole life just to be zapped by some heartless dick flying by, and for what? Poor guy didn't deserve that. I hope they at least gave him a shit ton of pain killers .
It's very similar to an accute radiation poisoning syndrome. The events occured in 1946, so this was a fairly new thing for medicine back then and even more for the public. It wouldn't be surprising that these doctors, in a rural area of Brazil, weren't able to identify a case of accute radiation poisoning. This would also explain why his clothes remained intacts, while his skin wasn't. The same thing happened to firefighters in Chernobyl, in 1986, the nurses threw away the firefighter's clothes and they remained intact for a very long time, even though they were highly radioactive.
@@TheT3MK4 Yes, that's actually the core of the mystery. In another comment, I've suggested three hypothesis which could explain how he got irradiated (military experiment, aliens, or unknown natural phenomenon), but we may never know the real truth behind this case.
@@TheT3MK4 Yes, there would be no reasonable thing to account for high radiation in Brazil in 1946. The only places with nuclear tech at the time would have been the US, the south pacific (US Nuke tests) and maybe early USSR research.

Horrifying. I have to commend you for always telling such stories of suffering in a very compassionate and non sensationalist way and wishing the souls of the deceased peace. I love that. Thank you.
Good point but two things are diffetent. The first was that what happened to Joao seems to be extremely accelerated as his death took only a few hours while Ouchi took nearly a year (keep in mind that his doctors had to prolong his suffering to see the effects of radiation). The second of which is Ouchi's hair did fall off (though I don't know if this was because it would not have fallen off naturally or the doctors shaved it off). Either way, it happened far too quickly to be a natural process.
Yeah, but he died way too quickly if he was exposed to radiation. He must have literally been shot with a concentrated beam of radiation if he died so fast.

I think I have to agree with the comment section's consensus that he died from VERY severe radiation exposure... But what caused it? The time period could make one theorize that some sort of nuclear testing occured. But that doesn't seem likely with such damage coming to him only. The incident is chilling, and lends itself to many ideas of the exact means of how he was attacked. In that same breath though, any grounded explanation is hard to believe, or has no supporting evidence. But let's not forget that this was an actual man who had died, and left a grieving family in his wake. It's very tragic, and unfortunately, they would have heard many discussions for the rest of their lives about the strange circumstances surrounding him; as does anyone who dies in a mysterious or unexplained manner. Great video. I'm glad to have found a channel that talks about all manners of the paranormal. I'm a sucker for UFO/alien stories and events, and this channel keeps that interest fed well. The "Kentucky Goblin" series was very eerie and entertaining, and also informative. Any video published has a good mix of grounded debunking theories, as well as the fantastical ones. Alien Radiation weapons? Could be a possibility ya know if aliens cam travel entire systens they need to have mastered the atom. Along with that to master weaponizing it too.
Microwave based weaponry could also be a possibility, since his hair did not fall away, but soft tissue did, he could have been hit with a highly focused beam of microwaves, exciting the water in his body's blood and soft tissues, flash cooking them, causing proteins that help hold the body together to denature and fall apart. Since hair does not really have water in it, microwave puls or beam would not cause any noticeable damage, unless you looked very closely.

Generally, ufo's stories are accepted by most of the civilian population here due to our supersticious traditions, but rarely as Aliens. Matter of fact, there are many stories like this. I have a vivid visual imagination. Mix that with detailed narration and the realization that this slowly happened to an actual person, pretty noxious combo.
First thing I thought was radiation exposure, the fact they tore the house down is odd,the one question that's missing is what happened to the body? Was it just buried or did it too vanish? Any way one looks at it a story that reeks of there being way more then we know.

A terrible way to die, May his soul Rest in peace
You're absolutely respect for those involved in these cases is something I really appreciate.

Damn, now that is one strange and horrifying death.
Kerg but there is no nuclear incident in brazil
@@TheT3MK4 Yes, that's actually the core of the mystery. In another comment, I've suggested three hypothesis which could explain how he got irradiated (military experiment, aliens, or unknown natural phenomenon), but we may never know the real truth behind this case.
@@TheT3MK4 Yes, there would be no reasonable thing to account for high radiation in Brazil in 1946. The only places with nuclear tech at the time would have been the US, the south pacific (US Nuke tests) and maybe early USSR research.
Kerg they are still intact in the hospital basement, and are still highly/dangerously radioactive
I've heard stories like this but this is just sad I couldnt bear it
Its funny that a tiny bit of red added to a black and white image really increased the impact. Poor Joao
Remember what happened to the Dogs on Skinwalker Ranch? They were chasing balls of light and when their owner went to find them they had melted into greasy spots on the ground! Creepy stuff.
That seems more like heat or laser weapons instead of radiation
Horrifying. I have to commend you for always telling such stories of suffering in a very compassionate and non sensationalist way and wishing the souls of the deceased peace. I love that. Thank you.

His death reminds me of Hisashi Ouchi. There seems to be some similar things between these two deaths.
I was thinking the same thing, seeming like his genetic make up was subject to radiation and thus broken down, his body literally melting over time.
Chicken Sandwich I was thinking of radiation exposure
@@alinalexandru2466 Which could be an Exterestial Microwave weapon that shoots constant beams of Microwaves thus bursting parts of the water in his body thus melting him inside out.
It's those final words in each episode that puts you head and shoulders above any other channel just sensationalizing these tragic occurences. Keep doing what you're doing: you guys are amazing!
I really love your stories, but on top of that I also greatly appreciate how you respect the families that had to deal with all of this as well as the victims.Alot of times you don't hear anybody say they've hoped for the best for the families, they just report it and that's it,huge props for going the extra mile...I hope you get a chance to look into some of the ghost stories around Brazoria county I'm Texas!
I refuse to watch shows like tosh.o where he's not only making money off of those suffering in the clips but also making fun of them. I laugh when someone falls down but is OK but clips where someone gets seriously hurt isn't funny to me at all. My empathy won't let me watch it cause I hurt too much inside for them. So much desensitization these days I worry for the youth
Well, that was horrifying. This one's gonna stay with me awhile... [shudder]
I really appreciate that you end stories like this with a "rest in peace" bit. As sensational and interesting as these stories are, they involved real people, as well as their families and friends. We should take care to never forget that.

@@trillernight she's a time traveler
@@raresongsarchive I literally just answered that
I think I have to agree with the comment section's consensus that he died from VERY severe radiation exposure...
A very strange story indeed, and one I'd never heard before. The idea of spontaneous combustion did cross my mind, although it doesn't quite fit other such incidents. And, if he was suffering from radiation poisoning, how is it no one who got near to him was affected? Would they be? I don't know.
What’s up with Brazil? UFO pilots don’t like that place. Bob Pratt wrote a book called UFO Danger Zone: Terror and Death in Brazil. It details the violent encounters with UFO’s in Brazil.

It's a strange world when the most logical explanations sound the most absurd.
Well maybe logical is just an overused word for the analytical and closed minded. Honestly the best theories are ones that are out of the ordinary.
Logic is any function or form of reasoning, so saying something is “logical” in literal terms means its self-sufficient I suppose.
In short, sometimes reality isnt all its cracked up to be lol

Sounds like an extreme case of acute severe radiation exposure/poisoning
@@raresongsarchive Well considering its just after the second great war i would say the U.S or Brazlian Government wouldn't have the research to make a Radiation emitter like this yet. But Aliens would considering they would be Millions of years more advanced in Nuclear tech.

i'm googling the name of the guy and the village, and literally the only sources for this story are from ufo sites. no news sites, no scientific studies, no nothing
Brazilian Myself here too. I thoroughly enjoy your effort in talking about a brazilian story. Generally, ufo's stories are accepted by most of the civilian population here due to our supersticious traditions, but rarely as Aliens. Matter of fact, there are many stories like this. Never happened to me, but I always hear a story once in a while. Again, always on the fringes of cities or urban areas.
This is one of those cases UFO guys point to as evidence that this phenomenon isn't all "love and light, space bros!". Colares is another example.
