I'm a woodworker, not a machinist. But I love watching these videos. Anytime anyone makes something it makes the world a better place. That Titan and the crew do these to entice people to enter the trade as well as have the University is a testament to a belief in the future. Keep it up, gentlemen. And it was great to see Donnie's mom as well.
As an actual real machinist and authorized repair and service of Index machine tools (and soon Traub too probly) I hereby bestow upon ye the honorary title of wood machinist, (tap with forged metal sword on the shoulders), rise now sir Grantman, honorary wood machinist.
Lving the enrgy of you Kenny "Which is around 540 gallons for you americans watching" Then catching yourself in what you we're saying. This is so good editing and narration that you get more interested in watching it and see what you can learn today, awesome content and creation, on multiple levels!
I'm glad to see that many manufacturing environments have the same "chaotic energy". Just yesterday I was walking back from lunch, and a pigeon walked out from the tool setting area and walked up to me, I just picked him up and took him to the window and set him free.
This kind of videos make my life better, I only work with basic and smalls cnc at work, but i'm willing to be a better programmer and machinist with your videos and certifications and to achieve in a not so far future having my own machineshop. Thanks to you guys i'm more confident in my skills and knowledge. Be eternal guys!
This "KID" Donnie is absolutely hilarious, great on camera and a super talented young man. I am so impressed. Titan, you really do a great job choosing these talented employees. You are an awesome individual. FH
@@donniehinske Hey Donnie! Glad to hear from you! We have 2 of the new tornos multi Swiss 8x26, and a fleet of old tornos SAS 16.6, it’s a smaller 6 spindle and we also have a few tornos Bs20’s they’re older 8 spindle machines. Along with the tornos we have a few machines called an “index” im not entirely sure what the proper name for it is, I’ve only heard about it. But it’s pretty similar to the tornos 8 spindle machines and they crank out parts as well!
Great video, I am not a machinist or anything but I do have a couple years of manual lathe and mill stuff. It's amazing to see how crazy the machining process is getting! I love it. PS Sorry but I laughed my ass off when he dropped the basket in the oil 😂😂
Love watching your videos. I don't do CNC or machining though I would love to but don't have access to machines to learn or monetary means to go to school for that but I do enjoy seeing what you can do with these machines plus watching the antics is always a hoot. Donnie, you did a great job explaining everything about this particular machine. Titan, keep up the awesome work and showcasing of what you do. Always look forward to seeing what you and your people bring to each and every video.
Great video - definitely a lot more going on than the Star and Tsugami machines that I've managed. I'd love to see how the machine supports the bar stock!
What's up TITANS!? I run mazak machines. Love the quality of the mazak machines. I run a 450MY lathe mill combo, with SMOOTHC controls. Love these videos! Keep it up!
Simply amazing machine. It would be the best thing since sliced bread if you had orders for hundreds of thousands of parts. Can you share with the class just how much that bad boy costs? Sorry, loved the oil in the face trick. Your obviously an extremely smart guy and it’s kool seeing you do something extremely stupid 😂. Love your blog ! Stay dry my friend lol.
I Love how Jessie and Barry can make fun of themselves because they know they are that good thunbs up to you guys, now back to Donnie great vids any chance of more macro programming i love that side of programming and the efficiency of it as sub programs.
"The last thing I need is another paper resume from a CNC machinist." On the contrary, I got my foot in the door where I work now by "printing" the company's application form using the pen plotter attachment I made for my 3D printer.
That thing seems like a maintenance nightmare. I'm sure there's also an absolutely horrendous slipring in there to feed the spindles and associated axes.
We should talk shop! I work on a this exact machine 8x26 multiswiss! I’ve been working with it for a-little over a year now! I’ve worked with the service tech in your first video! Not very many of these in the states from what I hear! Would be cool if I could share my experiences too!
MULTI-SPINDLE MACHINE HAVE COME A LONG WAY. MY FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH MULTI-SPINDLE WAS CALLED A CONE O MATIC. IT HAD 6 SPINDLES MAKING 6 IDENTICAL PARTS. PROGRAMMING CONSISTED OF MAKING PROFILE CAMS FROM CYLINDRICAL METAL TO MAKE THE DESIRED SHAPE FOR THE PART. THE NUMBER OF CAMS WAS DETERMINED BY HOW MANY TOOLS WERE NEEDED. IT COULD TAKE SEVERAL DAYS JUST TO MAKE THE CAMS. NOT COUNTING TIME TO MAKE SMALL CHANGES TO THE CAMS.
I amil interested in what kids of calculations they made to decide that extra tank + chiller is worth the 4 degree diference instedlad everything being at either 30 or 26
I just watched a video from Library and Archives Canada showing the Machining of an 8" High Explosive Artillery Shell in 1917. The video contained the machining process with times. How fast could you produce a similar shell today?
Question about that touchscreen... How practical is it in real-life conditions? Because, my hands at the end of an 8-hour shift are dirty so much, that it's impossible to wash them completely. And, as I'm 3in1 - programmer, setter, operator - i'm interacting with controls far beyond the green button, pushing all the existing keys with my dirty, oily hands. Scary to imagine, how the touchscreen would look like at the end of the day.
Thats a solid question. In my opinion you wont have an issue with the touchscreen getting too dirty it is really robust and nothing like oil will stick to it. As long as you wipe it down daily you'd be fine. HOWEVER I recommend hooking a keyboard up immediately because it is a lot slower to type on.
This is going to sound a bit silly considering that this machine holds 500 gallons of oil...but how does the MultiSwiss alert you to a low-oil condition? Also, does it use the same oil for cutting as it does for lubricating the machine, or is there a separate tank for the machine's internal needs?
The Doosan machine is a nice machine. Still a rail style machine but an updated and stronger rail. However I bought two SMART machines. Heavy duty box way machine. Sun spindle is having anothe main spindle. Spindles in casting having their own head stock. Sun spindle motor has a chiller to keep it cool and last longer. Ours is less than a month old but very nice so far. Mike for Ohio Screw Products
I work with Acme-Gridly multi-spindle screw machines. This is like looking into the far flung future of 2000. I have expected to see Mr. Spacely come in and shake his hand. If I could keep control of my OD with just a little click on a button my allen keys would get sad.
they are actually simple. there are many chip spinners that have centrifuges as well. i got one that was part of a system in this building i moved into. it's a bowl like for a bundt cake that spins. the sides of the bowl come back in at the top. oil flows in to the middle from above drops to the bowl bottom and flings out to the sides. as the bowl gets more oil in it the oil climbs up the sides and eventually goes past the rim and flings out. the chips stay in the bowl. at certain times the bowl need to be cleaned out of chips. it gets the oil down to about 5 microns.
Damn such a modern machine paired with an HMI from the 90s really puts undercuts the usability of a tool like this. And I understand if for professionals but seriously? You can’t hire some us designers and create a good looking interface? Like look at the DMGs or Haas machines, easy to use interfaces does not make the machine worse. If you want that bare fanuc interface have an advanced setting that allows for direct setting. Idk I’m not a machinist but I operate high end manufacturing equipment and the ones with better HMIs do really make getting better quality easier.
As a newbie that user interface is really freaking me out. It reminds of the DOS operating system. Or Clipper. Such an expensive machine with such a bad user interface; I don't get it.

I've never worked with the MultiSwiss platform. Only ever seen the Index MS machines out in the wild. Hated the Deco software on the Tornos swiss machines. Windows based junk you couldn't edit anything at the machine. Any change at all required a complete repost from their proprietary software. The pump arrangement is pretty nice. The only weak spot in any of the drum carrier multi spindles (Index MS, Tornos MultiSwiss, Gildemeister MultiSprint) is the oil not only has to be obscenely clean, but needs to meet the European quality specs to keep the drum operation smooth. I would personally rather have a multi channel control linked together with wait codes.
Not all heroes wear capes, some handle cameras and will capture the money shot no matter the circumstances. Props to the cameraman for the spidey reflexes
Don't know if you want to know, the term money shot kind of originates from a seedy industry. FYI.
Therein lies the joke

It's good to see 25+ years later, the software to programme Tornos hasn't changed that much.
I love the Windows-95 look of the User Interface
Its good tho we use fanuc controller too and its easy to use
The value of safety glasses is proven once agin😂😂
Man what spaceship did you guys take this from? Crazy piece of equipment.

plot twist.. the guy in the video is a imposter and is about to be arrested by the police car outside at the end of the video

I love the videos of the tornos machine! Running them myself I can relate and I think it’s awesome! Thank you titans of CNC!

It’s coming
This machine is so overwhelmingly insane, it’s stressing me out just watching it
I'm a cnc machinest for over 20years. But this frightens my ass off! Great Video!
Nice to see the coolant system of tornos machine. I supply high pressure coolant units to various precision CNC machines.

Over $600.000 , better have hundreds of parts ordered before downpayment.

Nice facial oil treatment , at the end😂😂😂😂😂

Hi titan, from England here great video as always. Do you ever use Mazak machines
"The last thing I need is another paper resume from a CNC machinist."
On the contrary, I got my foot in the door where I work now by "printing" the company's application form using the pen plotter attachment I made for my 3D printer.
Why is high pressure needed for the cut off tool? What does the higher pressure help? Just cooling more? Love these technical videos, they're awesome!
helps assure that the chips get blown away so nothing bad happens to the insert
How often do you have to clean the metal filters, and is it fairly quick and easy?
That thing seems like a maintenance nightmare. I'm sure there's also an absolutely horrendous slipring in there to feed the spindles and associated axes.
Do they sell it also with not fanuc? I prefer siemens or haidenhain as it’s just less dos like.
Software Side looks extremely old

Stay with. I worked on multiswiss machine. And its very good machine.
Thats alot of energy from out boi
Boom! I'm famous! Hey Donnie - I'm buying you a pair of safety glasses for your birthday.
Haha thanks ma! It was super nice of you to come down to Texas!
Hehe. Its funny that Tornos uses the same programing system now and for 23 years ago.😊
Haha love the last part :D
Please run the offer again.
I have been saving for 3 years and now I need your offer 😊
I amil interested in what kids of calculations they made to decide that extra tank + chiller is worth the 4 degree diference instedlad everything being at either 30 or 26
I bet it has to do with viscosity.
Axis has left the chat
At least that looked like pretty clean oil to the face..I've done similar with dirty coolant before
This machine is amazing I need it.
Hope you got the capital for this bad boi
My coolant system is a 30 year old Fairy Liquid bottle!🇬🇧
oh no that oil shot right in the face
It is very cool!
Donnie, where's your safety glasses mate? 😂
I wonder why it is running with TB deco and not with tisis is there a reason for it?
He, 13:16, you haven't really ever done that drop ever before, have you. 🤣 First and last time, lesson learned.
Great money shot there bud.
is the oil for the hydrostatic system and the coolant the same?
Yes its all the cutting oil

Non machinist here. Love the content. How much is a machine like this?
How does it separate the oil and the coolant?
Very cool
excellent
You should try some citizen m32 series. We have 13 where I work they are fantastic.

We usually have a big pack of jumbo size wet wipes on the machine for this problem
@@Bawbag0110 we have four 2013 Doosan lathes with classic Fanuc controls, so the only thing we use is rags from old clothes in all occasions xD

Bring mazak to the platform
how do you tell machine which spindle does what
And thats how you show a company propper ergonomic engeneering of swiss laths,

I think you are running in the Olympic to win the medal
Instead of explaining slowly
And here comes all the safety people…🙄
A machine shop in the UK would go bust in a week
Mazak had some of these program features 25 years ago!
she did finish at the end.
My company has like 4 of these
I thought "35 axis" was a typo. Holy shit
540 gallons of coolant! That’s like over $10k in oil!
That can filter can make hash!
Hmmm... I can´t find any reference to a flavor in the Blasomill data sheets
