    Bloody hell - find of a lifetime I would imagine. I'd love to see Lift Off.

    I am so thrilled at the thought of seeing Marc Bolan and TRex again. Marc was my first teenage crush. Never expierenced that crush feeling before as a very young teenager. I am utterly thrilled at the prospect of seeing and hearing it all again. The day Marc was killed, it took my anguished Mother, hours to work up the courage to tell me. How sad. will never forget that day. We had just emigrated to Australia, I was so homesick, terribly lonely, missing my family, friends and UK lifestyle. The music in Australia at that mid to late 70’s was ‘different’ to what I was used to and added to my grief of leaving England. I used to play my TRex records so often that they are almost worn out. Still have them. Loving the glimpses shown so far. Keep up the good work! How will we be able to see and watch them after this labourious effort?? Thank you so very much!

    Is there any chance that missing TOTP editions will see the light of day again on say BBC4? Clearly any recovered material needs to be seen by the public via the most accessible medium rather than being seen by only a limited audience or sitting on a shelf collecting dust.

    I guess a lot of us here are hoping that some Patrick Troughton Doctor Who will be among this impressive haul. Probably too much to hope for! Anything from The Shadows or Marvin, Welch and Farrar would be welcome.

    What a find! Credit to you guys for keeping up and knowing that there would be some gold in there. Reminds me of artists that paint over their work and then years later a masterwork is discovered

    If you record them at a slower speed and then play them back digitally faster you may be able to squeeze some quality out... Have you tried the old tracking technique?

    Excellent video. Looking forward to the results of this project. Well done!
    It's very difficult to even get playback of old open reel VT systems, nice to see the current results.

    Shame this wasn't figured out when that 1968 BBC Benny Hill Show still survived other than a camera to tv screen transfer.

    Are all the tapes entirely monochrome? Even if that's the case is there any possibility of restoring colour, as with the Dad's Army episode?

    • @HoorayTV21
      @HoorayTV21 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, those are films made from a colour video signal to a black and white tv. Basically the people at the beeb were lazy and made copies with ugly noise on the image (that they could have filtered out but didn't) that luckily can be restored to colour.

    Fantastic! I don’t actually think you should clean the recordings up too much though. The odd bit of line dropout, actually shows that the original source material was video tape and that it’s old! I’m not sure what digital format is future proof. 16mm filmed off a TV screen is the safest bet but far too costly. Happy new Year!

    • @martinhughes2549
      @martinhughes2549 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was actually thinking the opposite. The output needs stabilising; DNVR & drop outs removed. The audio needs to be cleaned up as well. Upscaling maybe to improve their look as well. Anything to improve them as much as possible.

    • @simonbone
      @simonbone 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@martinhughes2549 I'm not sure why they should be upscaled to 625, though, if they were recorded at 405.

    Lack of vert def. Looks like a Snell hacked to accept 405 with ext source maby Ctrl track pulse for lock hence 2/3 image and stretched in fcp.. Hmm rough to say the least..

      I'm interested. How would you do it? Getting good quality video off these tapes is desirable isn't it? I don't know a enough about the techical aspects except that I believe CV2000 tapes aren't easy to play at all.
