I remember all this stuff from when I was 6 and 7. It was Jean Morton, Tinga and Tucker, Willy Wombat, Kiki Kangaroo and Katy Kookaburra with them singing "Over the rickety bridge" on one occasion. I used to think Muriel Young was called "Memorial Young" because in Coventry we had the Memorial Park. On top of that it was all in blurry black and white, you had to wait 5 mins for the TV to "warm up" so you could see it. If you went up close to the screen you could see the horizontal lines which made up the picture. Round the back you could smell the hot electronic valves. They were happy days.
Five O'clock Club presented by Wally Whyton and Muriel Young. It was on one episode I remember an appearance by the pop group, The Ivy League. Tinga and Tucker, the koalas (I cannot remember the name of the presenter but I think the programme was shown on Sunday evenings around 6.00pm), Fred and Ollie on Five O'clock Club also, I believe, later as part of 'Lift Off With Ayesha'. I am sure others will remember even more titles and characters....
The theme music of ‘The Five O’clock Club’ has been stuck in my head since I saw it as a little boy in my ‘Nanny White’s house’ when I knew it wasn’t long before my mum would be collecting me after work. Now at 61 I decided to google ‘The Five O’clock Club’..... 😁 where has that time gone 🤷♂️ God bless you mum and Nanny White 🥰
I was friends with Jean Morton . She kindly recorded some Tinga and Tucker shows , complete with sound effects for my radio shows back in the late seventies!
The vintage bus as seen in the clip is the one that my late Uncle Frank Darby (1905-1977) used to go aboard many times from his local pub in the 1940s and early 50s.
That's three of us. You didn't mention who was with Aunty Mu. 'Pussycat Willem' And sometimes they would have along a guitarist who inspired so many people like Hank Marvin and Eric Clapton....The great Bert Weedon.
I wanted to hear Fred Barker, who was voiced by Ivan Owen, later to do the much better known voice of Basil Brush. Oh yes, what happened to Pippy the Tellyphant?
That owl "Ollie Beak" I distinctly remember seeing growing up during the 70s in Scotland! So am now confused unless Scottish Television aired him on something, but it was definitely him with the little schoolboy cap.
Technically I suppose, although I'm now 62 I am still a member of the Tinga and Tucker club, the Bazooka Joe club and holder of a Tivvy savings account!
Surely "we", as in ITV Midlands, only dates back to the Carlton takeover of Central TV in the 90s. It certainly doesn't cover Lew Grade's ATV. In England, only ITV Granada (Manchester) now has any direct relationship to the original franchise holders, with all the other ITV regions hollowed out by their takeovers by Granada or Carlton and their subsequent homogenisation.
Ollie Beak, Fred Barker, Muriel Young and Wally Whyton... what a team! This has brought back so many happy childhood memories, thank you.
Wally Whyton.....didn't he sing and play guitar? Then there was Pussycat Willum....
@@operafan98 Yes, he did that on Time For A Laugh too.
I remember them well!
OMG Tinger and Tucker the 2 Little Bears !!! Brought back so many memories of my younger years. Thank you so much.
And Five O'Clock Club with Ollie Beak and Fred Barker!

Brilliantly remembered! I only got half of those characters, but don't you mean "The wibbly wobbly way?"
@@robtristram8395 No, I do remember over the rickety bridge, though they must have done The wibbly wobbly way also.
I'd forgotten about Ollie Beak and Fred, what a blast from the past.

She was Jean Morton - "Auntie Jean"

This earlier iteration of Ollie Beak has something of the night about him.
I lived in the Midlands until 12 years ago.
This brings back lots of memories.
Very interesting. I've never seen any puppets like those before in my entire life. They were shown on the telly before I was born.
Ollie Beak and Fred were a favourite of mine, Thanks for the memories.

I was one of those kids dancing !
Ollie and Beak appeared on children's programme Tuesday Rendezvous hosted by Murial Young.
Olly beak!! The Woman was Muriel Young. (God! I'm old!!)

I vaguely remember seeing 'Auntie' Jean Morton and Tingha & Tucker at the opening of Twycross Zoo in 1963 when I was a kid.
My nan knew someone who worked at the atv studios in Wembley and I often went to 5 o'clock club filming. Seem to remember the dancing!!! Happy days.
I used to think it was ollie owl 🦉 but thanks for confirming it was ollie beak which was shown in the 1970s ?? I was born 1973
I wanted to hear Fred Barker, who was voiced by Ivan Owen, later to do the much better known voice of Basil Brush.
Oh yes, what happened to Pippy the Tellyphant?
Wow Ollie Beak and Fred Barker. Five o'clock club with Muriel Young.
I remember Muriel ask Ollie what he was doing that night. Ollie said he was going to a ball. Muriel replied "I didn't know owls had balls"
And Basil Brush ...

Anybody remember Pussycat Willem? I did see Auntie Mu (Muriel Young) there. Clearly I have a very good memory.
Ollie Beak aw what a darling
I was looking for Pussycat Willum! Has anyone any idea whether any footage of him survives, please?
OMG what memories yesssssss
Just after Ollie first appears, there is a brief blink and you miss it shot of Pussycat Willum with female operator.
@@theStranger666 Thank you, Bruce. I'll check this out.
I remember BOOTY MOLE but I can't even find a picture of him now. He had adventures around 1960.
I wonder what happened to the ollie beak and Fred barker puppets . The 5 o'clock club and myrial young and daisy the cow .
Was that a brief clip of The Romper Room in there? Anglia Television with Miss Roslyn? Hmmmm?
Fantastic TV then for children and adults

Warwick Ashton doesn't know his charabanc from his safety coach!
I remember Muriel Young when she produced Marc Bolan Pop show...she was a lovely woman, anyone know cause of her death?...so sad
ollie loved the beak.
Bit of history and Wesley Smith hasn’t aged a day since 1989
Now find Pussycat Willum!
I think Tinga and Tucker went to Australia
3:21 Gus Honeybun.
Ollie Beek The Owl
Was enjoying it, till seen the animals in the zoo😞😢
Yes, let's hope that in the near future zoos will be looked upon as being as abhorrent as Bear Baiting was.
Stop being so anal. It's history.
