    This is a great review video packed with loads of genuine thoughts and some good fishing action, too. I find that a lot of TH-camrs just parrot ideas from other videos, often full of bias and irrelevance. This was a refreshing exception to watch. 👏👏👏

    In a sea of reviews, where people focus on repeating what's in the marketing materials, this really sounds like genuine using experience coming from someone who actually had and probably has a few high-end reels.
    Thanks a lot for the review. I would recommend trying out the new Twin Power, which also has Dura Drag.
    One thing - Vanquish is not a JDM range reel. They are pretty common in Europe and can be bought in any shop that carries high-end Shimano models.

    Awesome review bro! Ive been looking at the vanquish for quite sometime now but kinda dont want to pull the trigger since shimano service center here in the state dont service those jdm reels. I own 3 of shimano stella 5000fk's since it first came out 2022. Super smooth, and best drag system out there. I baught 3 for me and for my 2 brothers. We fished 3- 5 a times for a week on the surf and alternating my arsenals from the twin power FD, XD, SW to stella fk and SW's, van staals and my saltigas. From all the reels i mentioned. I only had a problem with the daiwa saltiga from sand getting inside the gears and my 2 fk's went in for serviced twice already in almost 2 years of used for bail rotor breaking and griness from the sand. And i take good care of my reels, i rinse them after of used. I think the fk's arent meant for abused since externals gears starting to fail after couple of months of used. I just ordered 2 more of the stella sw since its proven to be last really long time without having a problem.

    100% love the feel of the stella. i also use the vanquish more on lighter rod setups. i feel for some reason the shorter design of the certates and exist actually balances some rods a bit better. they are all insanely good reels for sure, can't go wrong. comes down to personal preferences at this point. btw the c2000s vanquish is very fun for UL setups

    Subscribed after watching this vedio, some in-depth thoughts with no bias for sure, I’m in the same position thinking between the Stella, vanquish and exist, and my main considerations are pricing, weights, water resistance as I’m matching it with my Piratez strikes (very light rod) for some mid to large species saltwater species such as pink snapper and Samson’s fish in Western Australia. Long story short, this video has pointed out exactly what I was concerned with the daiwa issue, and Stella is the pricing that I feel reluctantly buying for. Definitely going for the Vanquish 5000, thanks a lot and look forwards to more vedios coming from your channel

    • @CookingandFishing
      @CookingandFishing  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you!! I think the Twin Power should also be on your list if you're fishing heavy drag on small reels, but I'm fully confident the Vanquish should handle it just fine.

    • @maniyhy9451
      @maniyhy9451 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes the twin power is definitely on my list for sure, do you think twin power drage is slightly more capable of handling big fish? it’s cheaper too, however it’s about 50g heavier than the vanquish, I personally like the look of the 23 vanquish more than the 24 twin power too, Functionality wise at this stage I feel like both reels can handle good fish at the similar high level, after weighing it out I think I would go for the lighter but more expensive option which is the vanquish since it’s a reel I never owned before unless its drag and gear system not as good as the twin power, as a enthusiastic fisherman I am honestly more excited about getting the vanquish tho.

    • @CookingandFishing
      @CookingandFishing  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@maniyhy9451 My vanquish has handled everything I threw at it fine, but it's primarily a finesse freshwater/saltwater reel for fish between 2-6lbs. I generally use 5 to 12lb fluoro leaders just to give you a sense of the type of fishing I'm doing. If I were targeting fish over 10lbs that run hard regularly on 2500 - 3000 sized reels, I would probably opt for the Twin Power or Stella. The heavier/stiffer rotor does play a role in keeping everything aligned during hard runs. If that's only an occasional occurrence for you like it is for me, then the Vanquish would suit you well.

  • @zveryok1

      @CookingandFishing Those 2024 and honesty even 2019 certates are great reels for the money. Not too far away from a stella and are tough and very smooth. Best "bang for your buck" if $400 is considered that these days.

    • @CookingandFishing
      @CookingandFishing  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@zveryok1 yes but they are freshwater-only reels as far as I'm concerned - I know some people who are happy with Certates/Exists in the salt but more (many more) who are not. Shame bc I'm a huge fan of the design, but mine no longer see the salt at all.

    • @zveryok1
      @zveryok1 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @CookingandFishing I've got one on a saltwater rod. Depends on how much salt and if you get splashes of water at you. From shore, if you're careful, you can use them. Definitely not for heavy duty surf stuff or anything close to it.

    • @CookingandFishing
      @CookingandFishing  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@zveryok1 I'm pathologically careful with my gear and the magsealed reels still end up coffee grinders. I know people who abuse their gear and their Shimano Stradic/vanfords/vanquish/tp/stellas hold up fine. It's a neat concept on paper but magseal is the dumbest move Daiwa ever made.

    Great review, so much better than stupid unboxing videos. As the owner of a Vanquish and former owner of various high end Daiwa’s I couldn’t agree more with your observations. Daiwa mag sealed line rollers are terrible, oil migrates into the bearings and then the bearings become loud and raspy. I fixed mine by replacing and using the Luvias rubber seals in place of the mag seal, works fine and can service yourself. But Shimano high end reels are just better longer lasting reels in fresh and salt.

    • @CookingandFishing
      @CookingandFishing  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think you can go with either 3000 or 4000 for that rod, depending on what line capacity you need. Another option is the 3000MHG size - a 4000 rotor/gearing with 3000 spool/rotor. Long term the Stella or Twin Power will be more durable, at least on paper...but my Vanquish is going on year 3 with zero issues. I would let the weight of the reel and how it balances out that rod be the determining factor.

      Thanks! All I can say about Matt and Tim is...they are undoubtedly affiliated in some way with Shimano, so when it comes to tackle recommendations I take their advice with a healthy dose of salt (as you should with any review to varying degrees I suppose). As for the Exsence - let's just say that nobody, absolutely nobody in Japan is using it for finesse, light line freshwater applications...and I suspect very few are using it for seabass either. Just a weird model that is entirely eclipsed by the Vanquish in every way.

    What is wrong with pen? I think they’re very reliable never had any of the problems you’re talking about but then again I’m not as technical as you are, but you can dial in on any fish or any real. If you just pay attention depends is more reliable real to me because it can be fixed anywhere you can fix it and readily available, right here in the United States

      Sorry but Penn hasn't been relevant in this size range for at least 2 decades, or really...any size range reels. There's literally no reason to buy a Penn in 2024 for any reason, and they don't even make anything remotely comparable to the reels featured in this review.

    I used to be a Shimano guy . But honestly nothing compares to Daiwa . I started out Diawa , switched to Shimano then came back . Shimano fell off , reels aren’t as smooth or as built as Diawa . I have 10 year old Daiwas that I can sell for more than I paid for . You can’t do that with anything Shimano .

      Its the complete opposite, maybe you fish fresh water because its been the complete opposite for me and im never purchasing a daiwa again. They are the smoothest reels in the shop but once you start using them that does not last, my last daiwa purchase was a Certate LT 3000xh and i was really exited after all the praise it had been receiving. A month later and about 100lbs worth of calico bass and halibut, it became very very grindy and just horrible feeling. Sent it in for warrenty, they determined it was “user error” and charged me $80 for a new gear set. The exact same thing happend with my saltiga BJ 4000 as well. My twinpower FDs on the other hand are 4 years old and still feel just about new with much much more abuse and very little maintenance. My old daiwas are amazing but the new ones just dont hold up.

    I met a fisherman who used to fish a Stella 22 FK, He showed me the vanquish 23 1000ssspg and said its better to fish with than a stella, I laughed at him. Ive heard time and time again that once you buy a vanquish you buy the next one. After watching several reviews and looking at Daiwa Arities and Exists, I purchased a 1000 vanquish. I am using it more than my stella FK22. I am super happy with it. Ugly reel compared to the Stella and Exist but It is by far the most functional spinning reel on the market. Hopefully the next Stella will put in all the good things as they did in the vanquish. Ive heard the new exist is coming out soon but I still believe currently the Vanquish is king. Will do the job better than an Exist for almost half the price...
    The Stella 22FK I find is smoother and more durable than the Vanquish. The Stella can be slightly better for High speed retrievals. Shimano use surface treatment on the gears in the Stella. But the Vanquish is the more functional and better for BFS. That winding startup inertia, slow oscillation really makes a massive difference when finesse fishing. Really Does cast further than an Exist and Stella too
    Many people are having problems with Daiwa magseal as they are removing it from certain places like the roller bearings to make their reels lighter and smoother. (Also selling it for the same price or more) Positive side MQ body is more water proof and you don’t have to handle small screws. Down side is even if you have the socket tool that you need to buy to open the MQ body, you cant buy Magseal from anywhere ,you have to send it to Daiwa. Using other magfluid lubricants or grease will void your Daiwa warranty but also doesn’t work as well. So off to Daiwas terrible service department. Also Daiwa lied with the new Airity ST and SF. The 1000 SF is a size 500 reel body with a size 1000 spool to make the Airity 10g lighter than the Vanquish 1000. The Vanquish is a true 1000 in spool and body and handles bigger fish than the Airity. I really think Shimano are slightly ahead of Daiwa and miles ahead with their pricing and servicing of their reels. That being said Daiwa can make a comeback in future.
    Here in Australia Shimano give us the crumbs... They really need to Bring the Vanquish to USA and Australia...
    If you want the Reel for Finesse Fishing you will be very very impressed by the Vanquish.

      Wow - what a stellar write-up! Thank you! And yes I would have to agree with all your points re Shimano/Daiwa, as much as I'm a fan of Daiwa's designs they fall short in some key ways. Here's to hoping both Shimano USA and Aus comes to their senses and give us the Vanquish!

      I own three Stellas two SW and one 4000FK ,I’ve been a Shimano fan since my childhood and I still have to find a spinning reel that feels or performs better than Stella ,the only reel I take with me most of the time is the Stradic 1000HG just because of how light it is,not even to mention how smooth it feels and yet it doesn’t compare to Stella in anything except in weight

    • @samasimOFsh

      @@fisherman1353 The stradic is a kids reel compared to the vanquish... If I was high speed jigging or popping for GT or Tuna I would pick a Saltiga or Stella SW or other reels especially for line capacity, they don't make 8000 Vanquish but if they did it would still do the job... The vanquish is the new and improved Stella FK... I have a Stella FK and SW, Saltiga and a Dogfight, Maxel transformer, Maxel rage... None of which I would use for every day fishing all bullet proof reels but heavy and cumbersome to use... I can still catch big fish with the vanquish for my everyday fishing... I have used my saltiga dog fight a handful of times. Haven't put down the Vanquish since I've purchased it... I've put the same braid on my Shimano Cardiff are considered higher end reels in the stradic family. I don't consider the Shimano Cardiff anywhere in the class of a vanquish even if you fully decked the Cardiff with Shimano yumeya exclusive parts to make it lighter and smoother. I have a Cardiff fully decked out with yumeya exclusive parts and even then it still isn't as light or as functional because it doesn't have any of the new 23 or 24 Shimano spinning reel technologies included.
