I was five years old in 1971 when we arrived in Japan. We stayed for a couple weeks at the Marunouchi Hotel near Tokyo Station. I remember going up to the roof garden where I could watch bright lime green Yamonote Line, blue Keihin-Tohoku Line, and orange Chuo Line trains constantly rolling by. They were all 101 and 103 series. I was mesmerized! Where I was from, trains were dark olive drab or brown, and looked dingy.
