@Siddhant Pandey we can’t believe we just saw this comment! We glad you enjoyed the movie. We’ve seen “No Country for Old Men” but not True Grit. Thanks for watching and for the recommendation! - Eric
The Coen brothers, Joel and Ethan (Joel is married to Frances McDormand, who plays Marge) played several inside jokes. It's not technically based on a true story, which is part of their humor. The only part that is confirmed to be based on a true event isn't necessarily relevant to the plot - the TruCoat scene in the dealership at the beginning of the film. Ethan Coen reportedly had the same thing happen to him, and almost word-for-word, too.
I've seen this movie several times, and only just now picked up on Scotty calling Jerry "Jerry", not "Dad". Jerry is the step-father. That's why he never really thought about Scotty's reaction.
"You betcha!" Fun Fact: William H. Macy stated in an interview that, despite evidence to the contrary, he did hardly any ad-libbing at all. Most of his character's stuttering mannerisms were written in the script exactly the way he does them in the film.
I like how at the end Marge says "And here it is, a beautiful day" before the other cops show up and it reveals an entirely frozen desolate scene with drifting snow and almost no visibility- I used to work in Saskatchewan, and that's how people there think! I also like how Mike Yamagita, being obviously of Japanese descent, speaks in exactly the same Scandinavian-American accent as everyone else from Brainerd.
The meeting between Marge and the guy who says his wife died isn't really random. After Marge finds out from her friend that he was lying you see her driving when she gets a certain look on her face then goes back to talk to Jerry Lundegard again. The incident with her old high school acquaintance makes her realize she can't take what people say at face value just because they seem sympathetic. She's used to people being authentic and nice but she cannot do that as a police officer.
Fantastic reaction, because you guys were honest and engaged with the film. Can’t wait to see more from you guys. Don’t let ANYONE tell you how to run your reactions. Talk as much or as little as you want. I’ll never cease to be amazed at the sense of entitlement it takes to criticize a free reaction video. Lastly, I think Jerry is the most disgusting of all the criminals in the movie, simply because he still thinks he really meant no harm, and will probably see himself as some kind of victim. He would probably complain about free TH-cam content as well….
That "sense of entitlement" is a customer communicating what they like. Apparently you're clueless on how business works. The business serves the customer, not the other way around. It's the same business model as TH-cam or broadcast television. They have to please the customer or the customer won't show up. That doesn't mean the reactors have to do everything the customers ask for. But for you to berate a customer for expressing a preference just shows your ignorance.

@@DMichaelAtLarge I 100% agree. That Steve guy gave them terrible advice. I say "terrible" if they want their channel to become a stream of revenue for them. If they don't care, then they can keep the same format. I don't see anything wrong with telling them they talk far too much. Not only that, they talked so much that they missed critical parts of the movie. Their mic audio is so loud that it drowns out audio from the movie. There are literally blueprints online that give pointers on how to grow/stall a reaction channel. By those standards, they're doing everything wrong. Calling us "customers" is apropos. Love this movie. I knew that William H Macy and Steve Buscemi would be value for money going into it, but Frances McDormand was a revelation. Career best performances all round!
Fun fact, if you go to the tourism center in Fargo North Dakota, you can see the actual wood chipper they used in the movie, complete with the leg sticking out of it. Also a few years back, a woman from Japan was found frozen to death in the city dump in Bismarck North Dakota,, she had a map to the money that Steve Buscemi had buried, someone sold her a fake treasure map and she came all the way from Japan to find the money.
If you're looking for suggestions, "Shawshank Redemption," and "Pulp Fiction" are always at the top of my list. Nice reaction! I liked that Marge, the most innocent of law enforcement, brings down a monster and gives him a stern lecture on the way to jail lol. btw, the money will show up in the brief ND summer.
It's a meditation on greed, probably the most complete since Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice" or Faulkner's "Snopes" novels. Take just the Buscemi character alone. Planning on collecting a million-dollar ransom that evening, he spends time arguing with a parking attendant over 4 dollars. Or getting mad about giving half of the Ciera to his partner, KNOWING that the massive ransom is waiting for him out in the snow by the highway. Dude, just take the damn truck and go collect your million! He gets murdered because he didn't want to give up 10 grand or whatever for the Ciera. As for Jerry and Wade, money is all they ever talk about. There is literally no other subject. Jerry even thinks that faking cars to get a GMAC loan is going to somehow magically work, because he's greedy and dumb. Wade isn't too keen on giving up a whole million to save his daughter. "How about we offer half a million?" The movie's tone is pitched as black comedy - all those funny accents - probably because it would be unendurable as a totally serious film. The movie does not have a very high opinion of humanity. Greedy or dumb, usually both, except for Marge and her duck-painting hubby. It's true that "there's more to life than a little money", but it's a statement that sounds a little defeated, or at least quiet, even coming from the heroine. In this bloody world, such sentiments fall on deaf ears.
Long underwear is very popular up north in the winter. Medium to heavyweight thermal underwear under jeans and a pendleton shirt keeps you nice and toasty at somewhat cold temps. Realize this is based in North Dakota and Minnesota. My friend went on a cross country skiing trip in Minnesota a couple decades ago so I was watching the weather news for the region. They had a cold snap and it went to -60F. That's dangerously cold, so you take your clothing plan very seriously. The right pair of thermal underwear, wool socks, balaclava, shirt layers, heavy coat, really good gloves and an insulated hat. You can do it various ways, but if you don't build it well, you will suffer and possibly die.
I think the funniest part of this whole movie apart from the incompetence of Jerry and the criminals was Jerry and Carl's (Buscemi) greed. Jerry asked for a ton of money from his father in law, but when the criminals asked for 40k more (or what they thought the "whole" 80k) he didn't want to give it to them. Same with Carl, when his fellow henchman asked to split the money for the car, he refused. Hilarious.
Brainerd is literally in the middle of nowhere, almost an hour from the interstate, and people avoid driving in the dead of winter during night if they can avoid it.
Since you asked for movie recommendations, I have several that I think are outstanding. First, two that are very well known - Stanley Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey" and Taika Waititi's "Jojo Rabbit" (Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, Stephen Merchant, 2019 Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay). Second, a couple of New Zealand movies that are outstanding but not as well known... Lee Tamahori's "Once Were Warriors" (note: violence and incest, a bleak story but fantastic acting) and Roger Donaldson's "The World's Fastest Indian" starring Sir Anthony Hopkins (true story, eccentric individual pursuing his dream against the odds).
They released a deluxe edition of the dvd (or maybe vhs?) once that included a snow globe with the wood chipper that had red and white snow when you shook it up. I really regret not buying it as soon as I saw it.
Great first reaction, guys, it was entertaining. This is one of my favorite movies, it's just movie-making on a unique level. I love the acting especially Peter Stormare and Frances Mcdormand but everyone did a great job. Good luck on the channel and I'm looking forward to watching more movies with you! Blessings 🙏
Bismarck gets cold. i’ve been there in dead of winter and it was -35°F that wasn’t with wind chill; that was just the actual air temperature. To put it into perspective, imagine it’s so cold that the temperature could go UP by over 100° before it’s T-Shirt weather .
Loved this! It would be awesome to see you guys watch the first season of the TV series! Each season is a completely different story and I can vouch for the quality of the 3 first ones!
When you get to doing a reaction to the Coen Brothers film "The Big Lebowski" which also stars Steve Buscemi as Donny. You will hear "Shut up Donny" several times, the Coen's added that because he talks so much in this film. I'm a new subscriber and look forward to more reactions, thanks.
Hey guys good luck!! The Coen Brothers are awesome! You should check out.. - “No Country For Old Men” - “The Big Lebowski” - “Goodfellas” - (MOB MOVIE)
I had to go to Fargo this past Dec for work stuff and out of curiosity I drove some of the roads around the outskirts of town - it looked exactly like this movie - I even slid off the road one point into a snow bank and a local was kind enough to pull me out with the wench on his truck.
Well, other than the opening scene, none of this movie takes place in Fargo haha It was chosen as the title just because the directors thought it sounded better than Brainerd.
Trying to think of a good R rated 1990's movie you guys may not have seen. What about Primal Fear starring Richard Gere, Edward Norton, and Laura Linney?
Movie recommendations: LA Confidential, Heat, Seven, Miller's Crossing, Mulholland Falls, Insomnia, Apt Pupil, Arlington Road, Black Rain, No Country for Old Men, There Will Be Blood, Blood Simple, Gangster Squad, Married to the Mob. Loving your reactions so far, and I've only watched this one, but I can see that you two are worth a subscribe.
Happy I found you today. I would like to recommend an early Coen Brothers comedy, Raising Arizona. Also, Cher’s Academy Award winning film, Moonstruck, a great movie about an Italian-American family. Hopefully, you haven’t seen one or the other. Good luck with your channel.
A little late for this one. Just found the channel when A Fistfull of Dollars showed up, but I thought I start from the beginning. I see that you have gone through the most popular Coen movies; The Big Lebowski and Raising Arizona. But almost all of Coen's movies are great. My suggestion is to start from the beginning with Blood Simple. My favorite of theirs is Miller's Crossing. Maybe because it deviates from their common theme of a bunch of people tries to get a big pile of money, but greed never pays. In Fargo, "Funny Looking Guy" just *has* to argue about half a car when he has all that money hidden away. That's how greed is rewarded in a Coen movie. :D
Congratulations on your new channel! I love the two movies you've done so far! I'm just going to unload some titles I think you guys would like, love........and/or do a great job with! Starting with the first two Coen Brothers movies (along with "Fargo" still their best, imo) Raising Arizona" (DEFINITELY) and "Blood Simple" "Boogie Nights" and "There Will Be Blood" (both directed by Paul Thomas Anderson), "The Royal Tenenbaums" (directed by Wes Anderson), "Jackie Brown" and "Death Proof" (directed by Tarantino), "To Die For" and "Drugstore Cowboy" (directed by Gus Van Zant), "Dazed And Confused" (directed by Richard Linkletter) and the movie that is it's older brother, "American Graffiti" (George Lucas) (best to do that one first!) . "After Hours", "The King Of Comedy" and "Cape Fear" (all three directed by Martin Scorsese). "Wild At Heart" (directed by David Lynch), "Sophie's Choice" (Meryl Streep's most iconic role....and not a single reaction for it! Amazing movie). "Bonnie And Clyde" (another iconic, super influential classic.....not a single reaction for it!) Horror: Creepshow, Invasion Of The Body Snatchers (1978), Carrie (1976), Rosemary's Baby, An American Werewolf In London, Poltergeist (1983). Other super classics: "Planet Of The Apes" (1968), "Chinatown" (1974), "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" (1975)......I tried to keep this list movies that don't have many or any reactions.....but that are hugely famous and well-regarded, none of these are obscure. Sorry for such a long list but your reaction inspired me! Going to watch your "Memento" reaction next! THANKS!
I love the Coens they really care about the movies they make. To one is alike. Fargo has an interesting mix of understated humor and quirky characters with a serious plot. If you like Coen movies, I'd recommend "No Country for Old Men" and "The Big Lebowski"
so guys may i recommend HBO 's Chernobyl . This is insanely good as the reviews will testify ,and I am sure they ruffle Sarah's reasonable feathers. Also Interstellar . good look with the channel
I love reaction channels with at least 2 commentators. It's also a nice thing that one of you is familiar with movies and the other is a beginner. Don't worry about the comments telling you to speak less. I'm here for the reaction not for the movie itself. I would suggest you to mix in movies about the movie industry itself into your diet :) It would make sense that you would react to such movies as movie reactors. There are lots of them and they are somehow being disregarded by the reactors. One such movie would be "Be Kind Rewind" as a starter, then maybe "The Party", "Synecdoche, New York" (which is actually not about the movie industry but the show business in general - theatre in particular), "The Player".
Congrats on the new channel, watching reaction video to movies and series is my favorite thing on TH-cam so i hope it goes well gor you guys, if you react to something that i've watched believe me i am gonna watch that video and may be we'll discuss it on the comments that'll be fun :)
I love this movie. Plain folk probably don't have the first clue on how daily life is for a criminal or police officer. Normal people would be shitting themselves if one percent of this stuff happened to them. But, to criminals and police, this is a normal day. That's why they hardly seem excited, shocked, and why they have small talk while experiencing mundane things like weather and stamp contests.

As for Jerry and Wade, money is all they ever talk about. There is literally no other subject. Jerry even thinks that faking cars to get a GMAC loan is going to somehow magically work, because he's greedy and dumb. Wade isn't too keen on giving up a whole million to save his daughter. "How about we offer half a million?"
The movie's tone is pitched as black comedy - all those funny accents - probably because it would be unendurable as a totally serious film.
Hilarious.
Your first movie reaction is Fargo? That's like your... I don't know what it's like. It's a rare treat.
19:29 Synchronized sadness 😥
Brainerd is literally in the middle of nowhere, almost an hour from the interstate, and people avoid driving in the dead of winter during night if they can avoid it.
Yaaah, that minnesota accent. 🤣 Because I lived most of my life in minnesota before moving to las vegas
The wood chipper is on display at the Fargo Welcome Center.
If you two liked this then you should watch No Country For Old Men (another Coen Brothers movie).
They released a deluxe edition of the dvd (or maybe vhs?) once that included a snow globe with the wood chipper that had red and white snow when you shook it up. I really regret not buying it as soon as I saw it.
That’s awesome! Thanks for the extra info 😁
I got the globe with a VHS. Sadly (ironically?) it leaked and I regrettably threw it out.
11:36 nah that’s just North Dakota and the Canadian prairies during winter time
19:43 Synchronized something. I'm sure it's a mixture of sadness for him and creep ickiness
Most of Coen Brothers films are about a person's plans that slowly and comically fall apart, ending in disaster.
I'm very excited to see more of your movie reactions!
Thank you for the support, and we're looking forward to seeing you around the channel!
- Eric
27:29 Something else!
A really excellent morality tale. Goodness & love triumph. Superb film.
Can't forget..
Raising Arizona & Gremlins
You have to be from Minnesota to totally appreciate this!
The performance by Macy is one of the best ive seen.
the body in the field is cast (in the credits) as “prince’s love logo” (sorrry i can’t copy paste it) though Prince isn’t actually in the film
Fargo season 1 is one of the best things to ever come on tv its kinda continuation of the movie
Coen brothers do love a good kidnapping story.
Coen brothers. Great start. Would LOVE to see some Kubrick, too.
Great reaction. Great movie.
Thanks so much! It definitely gave us plenty to talk about haha
- Sarah
Please watch No Country for Old Men. The best movie I think ever! Plus it's by the Cohen's too.
I believe that’s the first Cohens film we’ve ever watched! So good
- *”NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN” - (2007)*
🍿🍿🔥
He isn´t called Steve Bushady for no reason, ja!
Well said 😂
Hey guys good luck!! The Coen Brothers are awesome! You should check out..
- “No Country For Old Men”
- “The Big Lebowski”
- “Goodfellas” - (MOB MOVIE)
The movie HEAT is the goat!
Not a true story actually lol, just something they did for fun
It would have been one heck of a true story lol We appreciate the extra bit of info!
- Eric
Hey I subscribed I enjoyed your wholesome reaction to this classic, thanks
Thank you for your support!
I'm going to recommend a fantastic film no one seems to know about. Searching For Bobby Fischer (1993). Excellent movie, excellent cast.
Awesome! Thank you, we'll look into it :)
Thanks for the reaction. Please watch the first series of Fargo (to see what happens to that bag of cash). Another great female role as a policewoman.
Just found your channel, love it. I'm a new subscriber
Trying to think of a good R rated 1990's movie you guys may not have seen. What about Primal Fear starring Richard Gere, Edward Norton, and Laura Linney?
We have not seen it yet, it definitely sounds up our alley though, thanks!
@@EricSarahReact It's a courtroom thriller, good performances and reviews, but best to go into it not knowing much more than that!
Fargo the series is also pretty good. In my opinion one of the best series!
We've always been wanting to watch it! Thanks for the recommendation :)
- Eric
It is fantastic. Great casting and writing creating a through line in each season.
Also couldn’t recommend it enough.
Enjoy.
The buried money will reappear in the summer when the snow melts.
There are places in the country where the snow never melts. That could be one of them.
Love this especially Peter Stormare (great Swedish actor)
What a great reaction. Yah? Yah!
Sarah likes a good cry movie eh. Well, lets start with Schindlers List, The Green Mile and Saving Private Ryan and go from there😀😀😀
Movie recommendations: LA Confidential, Heat, Seven, Miller's Crossing, Mulholland Falls, Insomnia, Apt Pupil, Arlington Road, Black Rain, No Country for Old Men, There Will Be Blood, Blood Simple, Gangster Squad, Married to the Mob. Loving your reactions so far, and I've only watched this one, but I can see that you two are worth a subscribe.
Thank you!! :)
The supermarket king finds the money.....in season 1 of the series which is MUST watch TV
Thank you! We definitely plan to get to more Coen Brothers films, and Raising Arizona is on our list.
- Sarah
I hope you do more crime thriller type movies from the 90's!
Fargo really is a perfect movie.
THANKS!
Hello! We appreciate the recommendations (a lot of awesome films to choose from). We hope you enjoyed Memento!
- Eric
I love the Coens they really care about the movies they make. To one is alike. Fargo has an interesting mix of understated humor and quirky characters with a serious plot. If you like Coen movies, I'd recommend "No Country for Old Men" and "The Big Lebowski"
so guys may i recommend HBO 's Chernobyl . This is insanely good as the reviews will testify ,and I am sure they ruffle Sarah's reasonable feathers. Also Interstellar . good look with the channel
We'll definitely add those to the list! Thanks for the recommendations :)
- Eric
Subbed 😜
Good choice for your first reaction dontcha know, yah you betcha
This was Roger Ebert's favorite film.
carl should’ve just gave Gaer 10k for half of the car and left.
Big heavy themes. Almost everyone who died did it quibbling over various sums of money, most trivial.
Thanks Deniz! :)
Great movie. I love dark comedies and this is surely that.
I suggest Slingblade.
Congrats on the new channel, watching reaction video to movies and series is my favorite thing on TH-cam so i hope it goes well gor you guys, if you react to something that i've watched believe me i am gonna watch that video and may be we'll discuss it on the comments that'll be fun :)
Thanks makondan! Hopefully we'll watch something you've seen soon :)
- Sarah
I’d love to see you both react to any Tarantino films you haven’t seen yet. Subscribed!
Thanks man! We appreciate the support!
Brilliant movie, I myself only watched it recently
Hello again, yeah we really enjoyed it and we're happy that you did too!
- Eric
I love this movie. Plain folk probably don't have the first clue on how daily life is for a criminal or police officer. Normal people would be shitting themselves if one percent of this stuff happened to them. But, to criminals and police, this is a normal day. That's why they hardly seem excited, shocked, and why they have small talk while experiencing mundane things like weather and stamp contests.
