I'm getting so much from your videos!! I'm a real new potter so your very detailed and step-by-step really works for me.

Great video, John! I especially like your descriptions of the subtle changes to the shape in the various parts of the pot. Could you do a whole video on determining the shape in the pottery-making process?

Great suggestion! I was thinking about if a form/shape in the pottery making process should be its own video or something that would be talked about a little bit in each video.

I would love you to do a video just about shaping different types of necks!

Very nice…could you show some of your pieces after they have been glazed?

Great idea! I am going to do a series videos about glazing and loading kilns. I will talk about the glazes I use and show how the pots look when they are completed. I am also planning on showing how to spray on glazes later this summer.

I wish I could send you a picture of my pot where I used this technique. It is a keeper. I also saw your needle tool with the green plastic handle and got so excited. I found one at Stoneleaf in Littleton, Co. It will be a great timesaver, because I can find it quickly!

I've watched this video a few times. I do love texture on a pot. Recently my instructor has been teaching hybrid pots. She throws a base on the wheel, either flat disk or slight bowl shape. Then she rolls a long narrow strip out on the slab roller and adds texture using a roller to the slab. Then she attaches the slab to the thrown base while still on the wheel, giving it textured walls. From there, she gives it her preferred shape and lip. I have done a few of these but find the attachment really difficult at the base and also the side seam. I'm wondering if you would consider doing a video on this? I'd love to hear your comments and instruction on something hybrid.

Wow that does sound like a fun project. I have only built a few hybrid pots and found it to be not really my cup of tea, but I am thinking about it now.

I love your step-by-step approach and the way that you explain what you’re thinking as you go along. Thanks so much! What’s that green handled tool that you used to undercut? Do you remember where you got it?

Thank you so much! The tool I think I was using is the one at the link below. It is from Mudtools called a mudshark. I like it because it is fun to use. You can find them at many clay stores or online.

Beautiful! Will you later trim the foot? That seems relly challenging with a narrow neck vessel vs. the base.😥

I trim a bottle in the video linked below. Hopefully that gives you the info you want. Thanks for watching.
