Throwing bottles and vases - Ceramics II
Beautiful work as always. Thanks for teaching us.
At 45:00 when you were finally able to collar in using your 6 points of contact, why did you speed up the wheel so much from then on when working on the neck? Thanks for keeping the camera rolling for recovering the pot. Hard to find videos of fixing mistakes in pottery.
I found a video from Adam Field where he centers a huge piece of clay, one finger at a time moving up from the bottom but only pushing a finger's width of clay at a time, then going back and using his hands to push in the ridges that were left. It's remarkable how easy it is even on huge lumps of clay.
I think the flaw was introduced at th-cam.com/video/uh5vJf_J7Zg/w-d-xo.html . It's great to see how to recover as well!
@ryandavis7011 I knew I messed up somewhere along the way. I could feel it in the clay before it could be seen in the video. Thank you for watching.
I love your videos. Always learn something new and feel like I'm there. Thank you!
That's awesome! I hope you feel inspired.
I really appreciate the instruction, it's been a long time since I've done any ceramic work. Glass in the classroom tho, just a matter of time...
It’s been a while for me too! I am so busy teaching and with my other school stuff I have not had anytime to make my own work. I hope you get back to your ceramics soon.
Fantastic, clear, and thorough narration of process! Thanks so much!
Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed it.
Great lesson. Thanks for sharing your expertise.
You are welcome! Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks

Thank you!! I really enjoy making them and I am so happy that you like them.
so excited to watch this!
Happy holiday John
@linzajchowski1803 thank you! Happy Holidays to you as well.
I like to use slam wedging as it doesn't seem to stress the wrists as much.
Love the sound effects!
Awesome demo. Thanks so much!
Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed it!
You can't imagine my surprise and delight to see your video pop up! I hadnt seen any of your videos in a long time.

Thanks John, I am off to the wheel to try this out!
@@dankaynie great! Tell me how it goes for you.
@JohnHasegawaCeramics Hey John, it went extremely well. Managed an Aryballos style flask on my 3rd attempt. An MKM order has been placed for some more hand rollers. Greetings from the UK btw 😀
Any chance I could get a copy of your handouts. I’ve done a lot of hand building but struggling with all aspects of throwing
@SmittyIn_Oside sure, go to my website and send me a message with your email address. For me the videos are much more helpful than the handouts but I am happy to share.
My website is johnhasgawa.com
Thank you so much for this! I am a thrower, not a hand-builder, and I love texture. I’m enjoying playing with this technique. Any other ideas you have with texturing thrown work would make great content :)
omg! You are such a good teacher for me. Easy to understand, nice steps to get from A to Z. I learned how to throw, remove the piece from the wheel and trim! Fantastic! Thank you! Where is your studio?
It looks nice with a flower scalloped rim
Where do you sell your beautiful pottery?
Looks like a Pie Plate 😋
I use extruded handles for all mugs/cups.. I absolutely hate pulling handles..lol
MARVELOUS instruction-thank you!
Beautifully detailed descriptions, wonderful camera angles and visual models. Fabulous instruction!
Love this video x Your wheel is very quiet 🤫 also Ruler doesn’t have a t in it 😊

A great video. Certainly the best explaination / instruction I have seen for the spiral wedging process. Thanks for sharing. Love the different camera views.
You are the best instructor I have ever watched. Thank you😊
This is such a thorough explanation of wedging! Love the cutting in half to show how the clay spirals around, and I love your impression of 'the creature' :p
Why did your ear blur at 10:48?
Good teach sir. Thank you
Thank you.
Thanks. This was a great video!
A lot of restaurants serve the main meals in a bowl like this
