love the part about the micro-managing leader. Conditioning everyone into waiting for orders, then when something goes bad nothing gets done because their waiting for orders. I've seen this at my work.

Do you think it's more so because they learned to stop thinking for themselves? Or because the micromanaging has conditioned them to be afraid to step outside the bounds of their orders because the person doing the micromanaging punishes people for doing so?

@@jackdeniston9326 That depends on what your goal is. I'm not interested in changing the behavior. Jocko has already given excellent advice on that. No need the rehash it.
I'm trying to get at the psychological reasons for the behavior. In which case, it's a very important distinction. And will help in understanding other situations where the same behavior system is in effect.

@@SgtHappyHands Its both, and partially depends on the individuals. It is easier to not think for yourself, and people generally take the path of least resistance. And if you take risks, and it backfires, micromanagers are notoriously bad at handling those situations. It becomes about how you stepped outside your orders. It comes down to trust, wich goes both directions. Micromanagers do not trust their team, and their team does not trust them.

@@morgan3688 Ah, thank you for the answer.
Both in equal amounts huh? That's disappointingly murky. Which was expected. You'd really have to target specific individuals to get an idea of how specific personalities handle it I supose.

Many parents are extreme micro-managers along with some managers, frontline supervisors and cultural systems.

As both a mathematician and a mathematics tutor I am obsessed with how to teach people to think on their feet and take some bare bones skills, with constant drilling and exposure to simple through complex, and reduce super complicated looking problems down to x-3=0

There's nothing more beneficial to team building than to have everybody put out equally hard, including the leadership.

Will you guys do any events in Canada? Or have you ever? I listened to some of the most recent Joe Rogan interview with Tulsi and I really think you'd get a great response if you were to hold some of these conversations in the communities in Canada.
Also, completely unrelated, but have you considered manufacturing shoes and boots as well? Like functional ones, that I can run up a mountain in without breaking my neck? Similar to vibram but for real North American weather. I was a big fan of the vibram shoes, and particularly Vibram soles, but they got cancelled. Recently they cancelled all of them and replaced them with foam crap. And for WOMEN. Not just men. Women would like to not suffer unnecessary neck breakage on snow and ice as well. They cancelled all the serious boots, the last few years. All I can find is UGG knockoffs. I had a plan to just keep buying them forever, and get buried in my last pair. And now -- I can't.
