lived in Northampton from the age of 4 to 28 and my memorys of Northampton are not what most people have! from an early age i was fighting the unruly members of society due to me being vastly different to the then social norms of the mid 80's to mid 90's but children will be children and emulate the attitudes of there parents. yet from when i was 16 all the way to when i was 24 the town had started to show its decline. it started to look tired in places the famous chippy on college street closed down and abington street was such a nightmare to walk through on saturdays and sundays. my last 2 years of living there was when i met my wife who was living with her step father and her mother i told her to pack her bags and move in with me when we was dating on the day we met (love at first sight it was also my way of showing her i would privide for her too) and i can say my life with my then gf now wife was horrible crime was getting worse by the month in the part of town we lived in and a week after we left some poor sodding teen got sent to god in swanhaven park just down the road from where i lived in lings! the truth is if you wanted to live in Northampton the 80's and 90's was the time yet the 00's saw to it that it became a shadow of its former self with the last show factory going and then the steel company. ive lived outside of Northampton for nearly a decade and personally my wife's hometown is far better then pokey old northampton and its 1/4th the size with half the population however im not saying high wycombe is better just that from what ive heard what ive seen and what i know Northampton is literally a shadow of its glory days of the 80's and 90's
