That #69 Mini save was some of the best driving I've ever seen...the reaction time, and the timing of the steering inputs to keep that thing from flying off the track and spinning like a top were mind-boggling
I was making dinner in the kitchen watching swift and Morris battle it out. Bloody screamed for swift when Morris went off on what unfortunately was the 2nd last lap. incredible racing.
Don't worry. The owners knew that the moment they decided to race them, mechanical failures and crashes were a certainty. Which means that if they are racing their cars, they have the money to fix them...
The Chevron losing its bodywork was reminiscent of Bruce McLaren's fatal crash on this track in 1970. Thankfully the outcome was nowhere near as tragic, probably because the speed was nowhere near as high.
What I am most curious about is what happened afterwards. I think I soon after visited that car in the paddocks unless I was wrong and there’s another one that looks like that, and the back bodywork appeared to be back on and fairly intact. Is it possible they brought a Second one back up?
@@NewCastleIndiana Yes not unlikely they had a spare, this part of the bodywork can easily be damaged in case of an engine fire for instance so quite common to have a spare.
McLaren's car had experimental bodywork with a big wing on it. The mounts were over-stressed and the bodywork with wing tore off. Sudden loss if downforce meant loss of grip at the rear and spin off. He hit a marshall's box. This car just lost some ordinary bodywork. Not really a big deal.
I don´t find the right words in english cause I´m from upper bavaria: Das ist noch richtig guter Motorsport und kein Billard auf der Rennstrecke! Was heute bei der DTM oder ADAC-GT-Masters geboten wird, das ist oft genug respekt- und charakterlose Boshaftigkeit.
I can think of three more from the weekend that would top these, err, make that four😉. Was the marshal ok after his coming together with the Golf? Do hope so.

Swift was in front and being the widest Mini around when the Golf suddenly blew past as if he suddenly found another 50 HP. Curious.
