It doesn't hurt to slide. They water the field before the game, during half time, and after the game. It keeps the ground a certain level of softness throughout the full field, and it also helps the ball roll/skip smoother throughout the game without the grass being a big factor. Most European countries have real grass, unlike the US, mostly turf.
Even on the unmaintained playfield on real grass and just durt, you have so much adrenaline flowing you can crape the knees to blood and still not feel it during the game, hurt comes later :D :D

I used to get shin splints when I played futbol/soccer. It seemed to only last for like a week or 2 at the beginning of the season. Once I got in shape and my legs got stronger, they went away no matter how hard I trained

You’ve probably already seen how the comments often wanders into Ronaldo or Messi. I think it’s actually doing both a disservice to compare them. Their individual playing styles are miles apart. Which … for that reason alone … makes it unfair for comparing them to eachother. If an artist should create a footballer … he’d create Messi. If an engineer should create a footballer, he’d create Ronaldo.
