Awesome videos! Keep up the great work! I love the fact that you use gear that is actually attainable by the average working class person and not $1,000 rods and reels from sponsors that nobody could possibly afford!
I like how you make sure to point out to not worry too much about having the EXACT perfect setup. Some guys get too worried about perfecting their setup, but when you're just getting started the main thing is just to get out there!
Thank You, i never know how the info will come across for the viewer considering everyone absorbs the info differently. I appreciate the feedback, hope it helps.. Good Luck out there!
Jose Lopez - anytime bro, I don’t know everything but I love when I hear back from people saying these videos and tips have helped them catch their first fish or that they’ve simply just learned something new, and in my opinion it’s all the little things together that help make you more successful
I love see these videos with how you guys out west do it as compared to here in the east. We do have some guys that throw spinners from time to time but as of yet it hasn't caught on.. Very nice video. Merry Christmas
Rick Zollman - Thank You Rick. I was excited to look out and see it coming down. We need it! I hope it IS a good year. I feel like I have my fingers crossed every season in hopes of seeing fish come in. We are so lucky to be surrounded by good fishing waters and some good looking salmon and steelhead. Hopefully it continues and doesn’t become stories about When fish used to be in the rivers. Good luck this season 🎣
Uplate Games - awesome! Every fish doesn’t have to be a keeper. Good to hear that a couple hatchery fish were caught. Thanks for the follow up. Hopefully this rain is bringing more fish for ya 🎣
Had to support and got myself some spinners! Can’t wait for the drift video. I see folks use all sizes of bobbers. Is there a one size fits all you recommend?
It doesn't always work but it's always worth a try. You never know what's going to entice a fish, the more selection you have to throw at them the better
@@AnglingAddictsPNW im located on the upper rogue great fishery and lots of steels/salmon in here rn what would you recommend for the summers? landed one last week with a steelhead slammer 3/8 spinner what would you use? thanks for the reply.
@@AnglingAddictsPNW ok, I was getting mine and my wife's rods spooled last night for our first steelhead adventure. I put 3 foot flouro leaders on our 20lb braid. Glad to know I used a long enough leader. Thanks for the info!
Your channel is pretty much teaching how to fish. Great videos. I went out to McIver today. First time river fishing. I used #4 blue foxes. I kept hitting bottom and lot and got snagged a good bit (lost one lure) Kept my rod high but still snagged mores than I like. Any tips in how to avoid that?... I did catch a little trout though! Thanks for your videos.
If you're hitting bottom that's a good thing. Just try giving an extra reel turn here and there and move rod a bit up river. Being on the bottom is better than being out of the zone. Losing 1 spinner in a day isn't bad at all, trust me.
Love the vids bro. Been a subscriber for going on almost 2 years. I’ve seen you you use a bait caster as your spinning set up. For the other subscribers of this awesome channel- I would like to pitch in and get a great rod/combo he deserves!!!! It’s that time of year, let’s give back to a good guy who was I believe to be ex-military. Correct me if I’m wrong....... But regardless of just that he spends his spare time making videos for US to enjoy. Make this happen guys/gals. I’ll pitch in 50$. We can use PayPal... comment on this if interested in doing so
Yo!!! We need a fishing report from you man! Are the steelhead up in the sandy/clackamas yet?? Rains have been hittin for a while. I’ll send in any pics if I get one! Fingers crossed! Thanks again.
Spongebob Squarepants I think I may get one done in the morning. It’s slowly picking up on the sandy, I’ve only seen a handful of natives caught by boaters so far.. nothing from the bank. The clack has been silent so far... any day could be the day! So keep at it! And plz do send in a pic 🎣
Nick, have you tried spinners off of the Barview jetty for chinook and coho? It's that time of the year! I'm setting up to give it my first try in a few days.
xyzct - this is why I like going back and looking for comments I didn’t respond to. Sounds like the bay is pretty hot right now. Have you tried from the jetty yet? I think there is definitely a chance of hooking a salmon from the jetty. A lot of the time they will be pretty close to the bank, really depends on what the tide is doing
A size 3 is pretty small but it will still catch you fish. I think if I were to use one I’d only use it on small rivers or tributaries when the water is low and clear and the fish don’t seem to be biting on anything else. Being so small and lightweight I wouldn’t imagine you’d be able to cast too far and it may not get down to the “strike zone” quick enough to be effective. 4 is usually as low as I’d normally go
Im a beginner & am a bit confused, on the PRESSP40 you have 40 lb test braided line, is that not 20lbs over the listed weight on the reel? Am I even making sense?? lol thanks!
Spongebob Squarepants it’s a legit question and the answer is an easy one. Braided line is thin, so a 20lb fluorocarbon carbon is basically equivalent to an 8lb monofilament. When you buy braided line it will tell you what the diameter is. Your reel will also tell you how much line of different diameters that can be put on it. I hope that helps or makes sense. If not, let me know. I saw your other question about the specs on my reel... I will get back to you when I have a chance to take a look
AnglingAddictsPNW thanks brotha! Makes sense. You put me on my first ever coho this year. So I’m taking your advice here! Hope to be pulling in a steely soon
haha they can be when you aren't used to a bigger rod.. I fish for rockfish using an 11' rod.. THAT'S A LOT OF ROD. You will get used to it and i personally am a big fan of a 9'6" rod. I just picked up a 9'8" Okuma for throwing spinners for salmon.. Good Luck!

Hey man, super helpful video, thanks! I was wondering which spinning reel you have & what exactly the specs are on it. Thanks!

Thanks for the vids man. Fellow Oregonian here 👍 what length do you use for your leader?
michael mangus I usually use no shorter than 36”
If it’s super clear, I may go a bit longer

Or consider using a lighter spinner or fish faster water. Sorta common sense.

The barrel swivel keeps the line from twisting when using a spinner?
Lawrence Blue - I would imagine that it doesn’t keep up 100% of the time but it definitely helps absorb any spin on your leader line

What spinning reel are you using in this video? I’m liking that Lamiglas x-11 setup but couldn’t tell what reel that it is.
Hey Gil, I thought I had responded to this. It’s the Pflueger President... great reel!

Where can I buy those torpedo lures?
Peter Yang www.anglingaddictspnw.com
Have u used sent tubes and who makes them n are they a waste of time
Honestly i have never used them so i don't have much of an opinion on them.. If i use scent, it's usually just the get
I only use a 8.6 because I gotta go through a lot of bushes and enclosed trails
Colby Byrne that’ll get it done. I fished with an 8’6” for quite some time and had plenty of success. Good luck out there! 🎣
How long of a bumper?

That rod is almost a pool cue lol 😝
Shaun Lehman lol the Pro Guide? It’s a solid rod. I love it
