I recently taught 2 honeybee classes to our homeschool co-op which, I was thrilled to see, were very well-received. The kids were so enthusiastic and asked wonderful questions and my kids got to feel like experts. Several of the parents told me they have long wanted to keep bees but feel intimidated by the idea. In all cases, I recommended they watch your channel this winter and learn as much as they can and to come out to my bee yard in the Spring. I was so glad to have such a wonderful resource to share. Only wish I had had your channel when I started. Thanks for helping me to continue to learn more and more about my wonderful bees. Merry Christmas!

I have heard it said in passing that for people in the northern climates, Heating the hive at 15C, can help your Bee's through the winter.
I would love to hear your opinions on that.

    • @beek

In my queen rearing course I go into more detail about how we pack and ship our queens. I believe I came up with the way to keep them healthy during shipment BUT I only have shipped my queens overnight. Early in my career I shipped them through the postal service but often that placed the queen in hot trucks for 6 days. To me, that is terrible and so I only ship overnight. UPS does not cover a lost queen in shipment so I just have to eat it and send out a replacement once the customer sends back the dead queen.

      I use a ten frame cell builder/finisher
You just pack it full of bees and feed!
Just make sure you pull your queen cells and make your splits 10-12 days after you graft, if you wait much longer than that you might have a bunch of queen cells tore down.
