    Question: So the Alcohol does not strip the glossy finish ? Also, Do you seal your own counters ? If so what do you use ? I scraped the gloss off of my bathroom counter trying to remove hard water stains.

    • @AliciaLynnYT
      @AliciaLynnYT  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You had another comment that is gone now but I will just answer here. The sealer that I use is purely a sealer and all it does is seal the surface to prevent damage to the surface. You can buy separate polishes or cleaners. Granite Gold makes a polisher, but all I use is the alcohol and water. I would say if you think you have lost your factory shine on your granite, you could try polishing it with a granite polisher to see if you can get the shine back. If that doesn't work you might need to hire a professional. I have some loss of shine around my sink area that gets a lot of water on it and that is probably why. Other than that, my granite has maintained it's shine with this DIY cleaner and regular sealing. Now if only I could find more alcohol to make more cleaner! I hope I answered your question!

      @AliciaLynnYT  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PrettyGoodLookin No, it doesn't strip the finish. It just removes the debris from the surface. I do seal my counters pretty regularly, about every 3 months. I believe it is recommended every 6 months to a year but I want to make sure they stay well sealed. It is a really easy process, I just use a brand of granite sealer called Granite Gold. • @AliciaLynnYT
      @AliciaLynnYT  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you want to add a scent to it to cover the alcohol smell I would suggest adding an essential oil like lavender, peppermint or cinnamon. Those are some that are supposed to be safe on granite.

    • @AliciaLynnYT
      @AliciaLynnYT  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It had shine before because it's granite and granite is supposed to be shiny. This just helps keep it that way. My granite still looks like that years later because I take care of it. If you have granite that doesn't have any shine, you need a lot more than a cleaner.
