I've been trying to start a small home-based business for several years but had some family things happen along the way so it went to the back burner. I started what I thought was a FB page for the business, however, it's been switched over to the newer pages so I am totally lost in navigating around it. I'm wondering if I should delete the old one and just start a new one following this tutorial? I hadn't even had but a couple of posts and really no engagement on it so I don't feel I'll be losing much besides a few photos and the Canva banner that I can easily grab again. Please let me know your thoughts? Thank you so much for what you do!

I've had a personal Facebook account for 16 years and I'd like to start selling my business product through Facebook. I'm an established full time seller through another platform. From my understanding I have to create a FB business page, then I could sell through FB marketplace as my business page, right? Or I could also create a FB shop, and sell through my shop, and my business page would have to be attached to the shop? The tutorials I've watched keep changing so now I am confused. What accounts do I need, and in which order? Step 1-My personal FB account to make my business page, 2- create a business manager account, which is the same with Meta Business Manager now, and for which I could use my business email to create (or the personal email that FB already has)? 3. Create a FB commerce profile with my business email? Or if you could point to some recent tutorials in order? All the Facebook changes made it very confusing regarding what their services are called now. Thank you in advance!

Hi Stewart, I followed your instructions and created a business page for graphic design services in New Zealand, and 15 minutes later I got the following email "Your Facebook account has been suspended." This is in spite of not uploading anything to it yet. The email says I can "disagree with decision" which I clicked, and it says "not available." I can't believe Facebook is this utterly useless - no wonder everyone trashes FB and says it is a waste of time.

Great video. I haven't used Facebook in years and was wanting to set up a business page for advertisement. But I see they have removed the "Unpublished" function and you can only delete or deactivate the page now, which sucks. I was hoping to set up the page in private and then make it public when I am due to open it. But I see that is not the case anymore. I found this feature handy in the past so you could do edits or get a page set up and looking good. I don't know why that irritates me so much...I suppose I will have to rush and get one sorted on the day or even closer to the time.

Thank you for the updated information. On 2022 Facebook business page, you talked about unpublishing your page so you could get other things done to the page. Can you also unpublish while making your FB Biz page or does it stay unpublished until all is done?

Hey, Your business page is a stand alone business page and is not associated to your personal account. But you still NEED to use your personal account, this is so FB knows you are a real person creating a page. Do not create a new personal page for this, it might be disabled.
Hi Stewart, i hope you can help me again...i am so confused....i created a page from my personal fb for a business, is the business page and the business account two different things? because now when i log in to fb i get to my account, from there i switch to the page but i get to another pages before i can switch to the actual business page, i hope this makes sense. i don't really know how to explain this. i would be happy if you can help.
Hi Michell, The business page will be managed in your Business manager (Meta Business Suite). All your business related tools on FB will be found in here.
Can people see under your personal account that you have Facebook business page? And vice-versa can they see your personal account when they view the business page?

Is there any way to keep the FB business page private while you are setting it up before launch? The unpublish feature is now gone. You can deactivate the account temporarily but cannot make any changes to it then. How do I hide the page so I can edit it without anyone seeing?
Welcome! Your page will be live. However, people will not be able to discover it until you start inviting people to follow, like and start promoting and publishing content.
Stewart, this is a great video. Can I use this process to create a business page for a client? They have a profile account as I do. If I were to do this for someone else would it be possible to have them start the set up with just the business name and category (so it's created from their own account) and then have them just skip through the following steps to get to the create page button and then have them add me on to finish setting it up for them?

So a business owner asked if i could create and run his fp business page, in order for me to create a fb business page i need to create that business page from my personal account, if this business person wants access to the fb business page do i then need to give that person my personal fb page info for them to get to the business page... hope this makes sense....i really don't want to give out my personal info. or do i just go ahead and create a new profile for this person and the create the business page from there so if they decide to take over the page ...they then don't have my personal info.
Hey again, I think I have answered this. All you do is create the page with your profile and then add the owner as a user for that page too. The page is completely independent from your personal profile.
Now how do you add Marketplace to your Business Page. Google says you can. Where is the setting? I wish there was a way you do not need a personal page.

Hi Stewart please could you help? I have a business page for my cafe but in the last 6 months customers haven’t been able to check in or leave a review. It does not appear on the locations list. I think maybe because it thinks we are an artist/person instead of local business. Have tried changing category in the edit info but it only suggests artist, dancer, chef etc and has sections on hobbies, gender etc which are non applicable? Thanks!

Your business page is a stand alone business page and is not associated to your personal account. But you still NEED to use your personal account, this is so FB knows you are a real person creating a page. Do not create a new personal page for this, it might be disabled.

Hi Stewart, i hope you can help me again...i am so confused....i created a page from my personal fb for a business, is the business page and the business account two different things? because now when i log in to fb i get to my account, from there i switch to the page but i get to another pages before i can switch to the actual business page, i hope this makes sense. i don't really know how to explain this. i would be happy if you can help.

The business page will be managed in your Business manager (Meta Business Suite). All your business related tools on FB will be found in here.
Can people see under your personal account that you have Facebook business page? And vice-versa can they see your personal account when they view the business page?

I followed all of your steps however people are not receiving my invites and doesn't appear I can be found on facebook. This is my 2nd attempt at this and cannot understand the problem. Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Hi great tutorial, however facebook will NOT let me use ARTIST as a category, sadly. There are a lot of us creatives out there, not sure how to go about this. ( And yet I am able to view other artists pages who have Artist showing as their category. )

I have one question I cannot figure out because there is only outdated info out there on it....: How to create a location on FB/IG and then connect it to FB business page? It's easy to create a FB post and create my own location to check in to. That then creates a location page - but how to connect that location page to FB business page? And how to enable that location to be tagged/found on IG?

Is there any way to keep the FB business page private while you are setting it up before launch? The unpublish feature is now gone. You can deactivate the account temporarily but cannot make any changes to it then. How do I hide the page so I can edit it without anyone seeing?
No one will find it until you start inviting friends and promoting your page.

Welcome! Your page will be live. However, people will not be able to discover it until you start inviting people to follow, like and start promoting and publishing content.
Stewart, this is a great video. Can I use this process to create a business page for a client? They have a profile account as I do. If I were to do this for someone else would it be possible to have them start the set up with just the business name and category (so it's created from their own account) and then have them just skip through the following steps to get to the create page button and then have them add me on to finish setting it up for them?

Yes new accounts have that problem. It's best to create a page through a creditable (old) personal account.

Anytime that I want to create a meta business account, they keep telling me that ad access is restricted. I read multiple articles but everyone including meta kept telling me to verify my Identity.
If i do this, I won't be allowed access at all as I am 16 year old trying to learn Facebook advertising.
Also anytime I try to create a facebook page I am greeted with the you have created too many facebook pages error, and I have not created any facebook page at all.. ever.
So my four questions are:
1. If I verify my identity, will I be able to access meta business as a 16 year old?
2. do I have to verify my Identity or is it something else?
3. If the above questions are not in my favor, how else can I learn and practice facebook advertising.
4. Why is my facebook saying I have too many pages when I have never created one, and how do I solve this?

So a business owner asked if i could create and run his fp business page, in order for me to create a fb business page i need to create that business page from my personal account, if this business person wants access to the fb business page do i then need to give that person my personal fb page info for them to get to the business page... hope this makes sense....i really don't want to give out my personal info. or do i just go ahead and create a new profile for this person and the create the business page from there so if they decide to take over the page ...they then don't have my personal info.

I think I have answered this. All you do is create the page with your profile and then add the owner as a user for that page too. The page is completely independent from your personal profile.

Hi Stewart please could you help? I have a business page for my cafe but in the last 6 months customers haven’t been able to check in or leave a review. It does not appear on the locations list. I think maybe because it thinks we are an artist/person instead of local business. Have tried changing category in the edit info but it only suggests artist, dancer, chef etc and has sections on hobbies, gender etc which are non applicable? Thanks!
