    I truly believe this race gave Sierra Leone confidence....This high priced colt had high expectations from the start....Who provides confidence to such a wonderful expensive horse? The trainer...... Perfect confirmation, good bloodlines.... Bravo....

    Prat got him going into the turn like Beholder a few years back. This is critical because of the short stretch at Del Mar and Sierra Leone always came up short with longer stretches. Great ride by Flavien and training job to fix his lugging in issues.

      They tried it in the Travers but was a little late and Prat had to go inside. This time he stayed outside and that's all she wrote.
      Funny how I listened to Siegel, the morning line odds maker propped up COT and Next up so much. I'm not sure if he was giving "fake news" but he was so wrong on all of the lines this weekend, especially in this race.

    Wow what a brilliant ride by Flavian Prat. 2nd to last out of the gate and he just picked off horses one by one. By midway on the far turn, his engine was in full rev mode. Fierceness was game, but not his day.

I just don't that one of the biggest races of the year is when you should take that kind of risk on finding out if your horse preforms on a different surface.

    Since Sierra Leone debuted, I saw in him an excellent thoroughbred, with a very strong run, but the only defect was that he charged inwards entering the final stretch. Finally Chad Brown managed to solve it with a bigger bite and here he ran straight and convinced Now I am sure that if they take him to the United Arab Emirates, he will win the Saudi Cup or the Dubai Cup, for sure.

    Coolmore, with all your resources, build a dirt track and run your best breeders cup classic chances on it..stop guessing and leaving Aiden to pick up the pieces, he's a fantastic trainer and deserves a classic win in America, it's not a given..but take the guess work out,..Southwell in September beating stable mates rated 20lbs hasn't worked..save the hype spend the money you have and send a live dirt contender...congratulations on having the winner anyway!!..just very disappointed as an Irish man wanting City of troy to be the best in a competition he never had a chance in..(no bet had on the race )..just a massive enthusiast for the game.

    • @lukerose7108
      @lukerose7108 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Coolmore won the race lol, we will never have dirt tracks in UK because we have properly bred horses, the US love dirt because its predictable and easy to race on, outcomes are easier to predict as weather doesn't come into it. In the UK we train horses properly with no drugs, you have to remember american trainers are lazy.

      @Lukerose
      I have to disagree with us having "properly bred" horses, we have many dirt sires or at least horse with dirt sires and close up in their pedigree, and we should have some real dirt tracks, especially for the drier months of April to September, I bet a lot of horses who we class as not that good could actually be very good on that surface if given a chance?

    • @lukerose7108
      @lukerose7108 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Thomas-vg8ov you'll never find proper grade 1 races on dirt in UK, dirt tracks are for poorer horses

    • @Thomas-vg8ov
      @Thomas-vg8ov หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Lukerose
      But they aren't, if that was the case? City Of Troy would have won easily, it's nothing to do with quality, it's just a different surface which some horse excel at and some just can't cope with, as I've already pointed out, there plenty of dirt horses in many European horse pedigrees, all weather used to have the same stigma many years ago, just there for the poorer horses, and now we have classic winners and champions racing on it.

  • @npdoughty1988
    @npdoughty1988 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Everyone slating City Of Troy and O'Brien, I bet not one of you spent over 4k on going there to see him take his shot at destiny? I did and I ain't bitching. We all knew the task he faced, he probably is one of the best O'Brien has had. They could have gone to the piss poor renewal of the BC Turf and probably won it doing handstands. They took the brave man's call and tried something few in the game would dare to try. It failed, but they tried. Every bit of respect should go their way for TRYING it. Not many times in the 30 years I've watched racing can I think of a horse participation in a race drawing such attention, the chance wasn't just to win a race, it was to write a name firmly in the history books, and create something that would have been talked about for the next century to come. They'll get it done. My only thing is I believe they need to send them over to the US sooner, get a good 2000 or Derby winner, you need to send them packing 2 months earlier to take in a proper Grade 1 preparation race on the dirt

    • @Thomas-vg8ov
      @Thomas-vg8ov หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sorry to poor cold water on your somewhat romantic view about why they sent City Of Troy to the Breeders Cup Classic and see him getting humiliated, it wasn't to rewrite the history books, or create something that we will be talking about in years, it was clearly a ego and financial matter, they have already set his stud fee at a steep €75k, it would have been considerably more had he won this race, but on another note, I hope you enjoyed the occasion and backed a few winners?
