This was an absolute revelation when I first heard it in the mid 1990s and continues to be so today. In my view, the Symphony is much better in its genre than the full opera "Vincent" in its genre, and Rautavaara deserves his position as possibly the most important Finnish composer since Sibelius.

Unfortunately there are not many recordings of Rautavaara's symphonies. The sixth is a mysterious and very beautiful work. Muchas gracias Gary
