The Brother company rates the printer at 27 ppm, an excellent speed for laser printers. I tested the printer by printing 10-page monochrome text-only documents, colourful PowerPoints, and a 4 x 6 inches photo from my wirelessly connected PC to the printer.
I timed the printer’s performance and averaged the printer speed.
The printer recorded a speed of 10.3 ppm for the monochrome document. That was slow compared to any other Laser printer, which averages about 21ppm.
For the colourful graphics, the printer recorded an average speed of 7.5 ppm, about 3 ppm slower than the average laser printer. However, for the photo, the printer recorded a rather impressive rate by taking only 14 seconds to complete the task.
Since it is an All-in-One printer, I tested its scanning and copying speeds and recorded the time it took to complete the task. I then computed the speed.
The MFC-L2700DW’s scanning and copying rates are slower than the norm for the laser printers I have evaluated, much like its text and graphics printing.
The monochrome copy took 5 ppm, slightly longer than the standard 10.7 seconds. However, using the ADF to copy multipage documents will result in quicker copying times. The printer copied my five-page text file at a rate of 13.2 ppm.
I have witnessed very low-performance speed for this printer; hence I anticipated that it could redeem itself in quality output.
Text documents from the MFC-L2700DW had sharp edges and strong letterforms, much like those from any other model I examined. However, mixed black-and-white images could have come out better. The prints displayed faint banding in flat regions and lighter letterforms.
Unfortunately, copies on the MFC-L2700DW came out far too dark and lost a lot of details in the dark regions. I had to increase the brightness on the control panel by two steps to get a fine copy; nonetheless, the copy was still too dark to accurately reproduce the details in the shadows. Instead of being the fix, switching from the default settings to the Quality Photo setting added banding to the copy and gave it a milky, grainy look, which masked all of the details in duplicate.
Mac, Windows, Android, and iOS devices may all use the printer. If you need a wireless router with an internet connection, you may still connect your printer to your mobile devices via Wi-Fi direct.
The printer also comes with other ways of connecting specific devices. It supports Google Cloud Print, Google Cloud Print, Apple Airprint, Morpia, and iPrint&Scan. When these options are available, using mobile devices is noticeably more straightforward.
The MFC-L2700DW has very few security features. Personal identification numbers can be applied to the scanner, taking unique Personal identification numbers (PINs) one step further than how you can use them to secure documents.
